Super super supersonic! I learned so much in this video. Broken down, repeated and repeated then put together into the end routine. What a fantastic dance instructor. The UK needs you!

The Mooch is a bit like Samba with the constant change of rhythms - aka timing. The challenge with the Mooch - rhythmically, is the lack of the chasse rhythm (the "1a2" or "3a4") in the rock steps and the kick steps. To help you master the Mooch, wait until you do the "rock step" rhythm (1 2) and then resume the chasse rhythm (the "3a4"), and you will partially understand the complexity of those different rhythms in this beloved jive figure.
This school figure has 11 steps on one side, and another 11 on the other side - kicks, the rock steps, and the chasses - all included in that!!! 22 steps in all!
Soon you will have 20,000 subscribers!!! Congratulations on all your teams hard work so far and thanks again for the videos. I teach basic latin and ballroom to my friends and I refer them to the lessons to show how a professional teaches. It is difficult for beginners to understand how much repetition with good technique is required to become a good dancer. It seems they want to be good after 15 minutes and know dozens of step routines!
Thanks Peter!!! I think we should "allow" for beginners enjoy basic things and what seems to be easy. If they enjoy then they will repeat and repeat. I sometimes tell a joke: don't worry, first 10-15 are a bit difficult and then will be much more easy :)
I love the Jive even at age 47! Here is my favorite amalgamation in the Basic level - Fallaway Rock (12 3a4 5a6) > Throwaway Basic (1 2 3a4 5a6) > Change of Place R to L (1 2 3a4 5a6) > American Spin (1 2 3a4 5a6).
Hello Egils! As Always thank you so much for all of your instructional videos. I hope you can do do similar for paso doble and samba. the instructions are very easy to follow and the figures too. this will be enjoyed by my class. Tank you so much teacher Egils. Bless you and more power. Good luck and Good Health.
Thank you in Advance. I relly appreciate it. I always download your vids so that I can watch and review it over and over again. it really helps me a lot to make my demonstration in the class very easier and for my students to absorb and learn it quicker. Happy thursday morning to you.
I hope in your samba video you can include easy way or techniques on how to do the shadow rolls, reverse rolls and natural rolls, that's the hard thing for me to teach my students and also the pivot.
I suggest this Jive music, from slow to quick: A) 30 bars/minute - My Babe Cares For Me (Nina Simone) B) 32 bars/minute - Ho ho ho (Sia) C) 38 bars/minute - Let it snow (Jessica Simpson) D) 43 bars/minute - Cho cho buggie (The Hot Swing Machine)
I like your teaching very much, i also teach jive and i hope i am as good as yourself :-) I have recommended my students look at your videos i hope you dont mind.
I have a suggestion: maybe you could do a RUclips livestream with a beginner/intermediate class of a balleroom dance, so people can see a full class and how you teach and correct the couples.
Hi Marialeecha thanks for suggestion. This Workshop wasn't my regular class, but special event. But I will try to use your idea in future for some of my hobby dancers classes. Not sure about livestream, I think more about video recording.
Hi Egils! Good Day To you. I hope I like the Idea of having you a video recording for Beginner/Intermediate Class of aa ballroom dance looking forward on it... I can't wait to share it with my friends and students. More Power to you Good luck, Goodhealth and God Bless you.
Well, this is a good lesson, but one little detail is really bothering me... can someone explain what is going on the dance floor? My concerns: 1) it's hard to tell actual participants' skill level, but they are definitely far from beginners. Such a good bounce, intuitive leading, good moves - they are at least intermediates. Why do they learn basics? 2) I can be wrong, but participants looks like Russian (or other Slav nation), but original language of the video is nor Russian, neither English. Where is it? 3) who are all these people on the background? The main question is: what kind of event is that? It's not a generic RUclips dance lesson, not a real-life lesson... some kind of international showcase with current students? Please, tell me! I'm dancing for 4 years, and I haven't seen such a strange event before...
Thanks for interesting questions. You are a very observational viewer. This was a seminar for those who want to learn how to teach beginners. Participants are former dancers and others who aim to become dance teachers. Event is taking place in Riga, Latvia. So people speak both latvian and russian. Hope this helps to satisfy your curiosity.

Thanks, really glad you appreciate our Jive lesson!
You are saving me! Im going to a social dance today and just found out it's jive and not lindy, so thanks a lot!
Wish you to enjoy your jive!
Dancers are really going crazy to learn and grow up once again in the Dance forms wow
You are such a great teacher! Selflessly share your skills and knowledge!

Samba Rolls really are not for beginners. This time samba will be for real beginners ;)
Thank you so much for lesson. You are a very good teacher.
Very nice
Good basic step exercise
You’re so welcome!
Hi you are the best😄
Excellent lesson!
Wow.....🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Excellent สอนดีมากครับ
Love it professor! Can we do the mooch without the chasse (east coast swing)?
Thanks for your question. Yes you can dance part of Mooch only if you are not restricted by rules to dance only Basic Figures.
Thank you professor for showing us how to make our dancing interesting and not boring. Love your channel. I hope to meet you someday.
And one general question about jive itself. Is there any difference with boogie-woogie?
I would say that Jive is very similar to Boogie Woogie, basic step structure are the same. Although styling and technique is different.
I see. Thank you!
very good I'm gonna start practicing, thanks
Wish you to enjoy your jive!
LOVE IT !!! GREAT TEACHER !!!!
Thanks you

What is the best music for that
I suggest this Jive music, from slow to quick:
A) 30 bars/minute - My Babe Cares For Me (Nina Simone)
B) 32 bars/minute - Ho ho ho (Sia)
C) 38 bars/minute - Let it snow (Jessica Simpson)
D) 43 bars/minute - Cho cho buggie (The Hot Swing Machine)
Thanks

I do live jive.
0.25 speed is not enough for me - I'm terrible :/
I suggest that you practice first with slow count, and then to slow foxtrot music 30 bars per minute.
