I lived near a river as a kid, was always there even years after moving. 25 years later I went back to be baptized with my mom, brother, and daughter. A big fish leapt into a picture my wife took when my daughter was baptized. I turned the radio up on the way home and this song was on. What a day. God is good!

Come to the River, meet Jesus and thirst no more. To me, the river is that quiet place, "sterile environment" where you can come to Jesus for his grace, mercy and forgiveness.

It makes me sad when people try to argue that the Lord doesnt exist because "if he did, he wouldnt let all the suffering in the world happen." I pray for those people all the time. My own uncle argued this to me, and it truly hurt me that he doesnt have God's love in his heart.
The way I see it, if we didn't suffer, we wouldn't learn compassion. Without compassion, we would be selfish. Without forgiveness, we would only hate. God put us on this Earth for a reason. Not so we could try and mooch off of each other and be selfish in what we do. Our reasons are all different. If we feel that someone is suffering in this world, and we feel bad that they are having to go through such pain, then we need to do something, say something, take action. This world is only going to suffer more if we just stand there and watch. But that's okay, the Lord gives us the Will to choose whats right to do, or what is wrong to do. That's why my God is awesome, He lets us choose what to do with our life. He gives us the choice to be selfish with our money and time, or to be giving. He also gives us the choice to just sit there and watch all the suffering happen around us, or we can take action and freely, and unselfishly give out our compassion to a complete stranger. Whether that be a human or an animal. Without all the heartaches, forgiveness, the suffering, the pain of day to day living, we wouldn't know how to LOVE. So the next time someone wants to say "If he did exist, he wouldn't let all the suffering in the world happen." You ask them, "If there were no suffering, would you know compassion? Would you know love?"

i would ask if said person strives to better themselves and if so why? if this world were perfect with no diseases, no death, no suffering, then what would be the point of exercise, of yearning to do better, of striving for something more no matter what it may be, if the world was perfect? there is a story in the old testament about a guy named Job. i usually use him as a example to lead into the point that though we usually cant see it at the time better things comes through the hardest trials we face. theres a song by laura story called "Blessings" the chorus of which is "...what if Your blessing come through raindrops? what if Your healing came through tears? what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near? and what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?!..." also the old saying "..no pain, no gain..." is hard to hear but its just as true as the fact God is sovereign no matter what happens and though we cant see His plans, we can trust that through the trial and the pain He is there holding, guiding, healing.
Yes I have the story of Job marked of in my Bible, and "Blessings" is one of my favorite songs :)
I feel the same way but it's what my Pastor said that clears up the question of why we suffer and there is pain.... He said this, "God allows suffering because without it who would kneel to him"? It gives me great joy to know God and his plans for us.
when i listen songs of this sort it makes me hate secular music.It goes straight to the heart.these guys are really blessed.
I thought the same way one time. Then God softened my heart and I have no hate just compassion and sorrow for those hurting and lost to secular music. At one time He loved me when I loved secular music and now I live for worship 24/7
I can. The place where those kids go when they are taken from this world is infinitely better than this world. In all reality, they are the lucky ones. Of course, those who are saved by the grace of Christ get the same luck, in the end.

This band came and performed when i was at Army basic training at fort jackson earlier this year, they were amazing!!!
Thank you for your service. God bless you. I used to listen to this all the time among others when circumstances had me living in a homeless living in a tent in the woods. I had a kerosene heater and a lot of blankets and an air mattress so i didn't get cold. I was there aline in a blizzard and i was grateful and happy. A police officer found me while he was sent to check on someone else that was living in a tent somewhere else in the woods. He hadn't been seen for a while and someone sent the cops to check on him. It was a very large wooded area. Military property. They knew we were there and was ok with it . There were about 4 tents but we were spread out. I was the only woman. The men were all alcoholics but nice. I know one was ón durability. The other two lived with and off their girlfriends but kept their tents there when the women fussed at them for drinking all the time. It really humbled me.
oh and until you come to the river and lay yourself down and let God find your heart, you will NEVER know who He REALLY IS!

Interesting you would say that, my sister died at six weeks old. All death is a transition, whether to one place or the other. I can't wait until my time has come and I get to be with the savior who died for me, and those of my family who have gotten there first. I just hope when I do perish that my death helps others find God. Until then, I am living to serve God here on this earth.

There are many people on both sides of the debate over Gods existence who have not bothered to learn anything about Gods character or word. Humility goes a long way in any discussion.The points that I see brought against God are answered in the basic fundamentals of Christianity. To get into a debate with someone who doesn't take the time to learn but who only enjoys throwing insults is a waste of time.This too, is clearly laid out in scripture. There....now I'm a target.
