  • Hello all and welcome to my HMS Bounty build using the 1:110 Revell kit.
I really can't recommend this kit enough for anyone wanting to get into tall ship modelling. At around £20 you really get your money's worth. OK, it's not 100% accurate, but there's more than enough here to dip your toe into form the first time. Be prepared however, if you intend to do the detailed rigging, to spend more time on that than the actual model build itself.
I like to say a big THANK YOU to Harry Houdini 9and Bask the cat!) for many tips and help with the wheel house scratch build. You should all visit his youtube channel for a more in-depth build than I could ever do.
I will, in the future, be doing a diorama using this kit, but I have other projects I want to crack on with first.
Many thanks for watching, and please remember to subscribe to my channel.

Nice worn and weathered look you achieved there Adrian... just shows even a cheap kit can still be a lot of fun and get a great result.

Thank you Harry, I enjoyed building it but the rigging tests your modelling mojo! LOL!! I understand now why some modellers do two or three kits at a time. Thank you for the advice too!!

Thank you Bruce!! I didn't think I had the patience either, but it's a cheap kit, so you should give it a go. I know now that after doing the rigging I can tie knots using two pairs of tweezers like a surgeon!! LOL!!

Mine should be here tomorrow, just won it on ebay auction. I plan to employ Harry Houdini's corrections, some-what. It will be my first build that comes with blocks to make the rigging realistic. I'm practicing to get in the groove to finish my 36" Cutty Sark that I started, but had to put away 8 years ago. Thanks for showing your build, and keep building what you enjoy, as "hippiguys workshop" says, build the model your way because at the end of the day, it's your model!

Many thanks for watching and your kind comments too Raymond, very much appreciated!! I found the rigging to be very therapeutic, after initially dreading them, so much so that I'm looking forward to rigging my Airfix HMS Victory!! Yes modelling should be all about the enjoyment, absolutely agree!!

Thank you Alana!! I was going for a really weathered look, but I have seen ones on here painted like they're fresh from the ship builders yard and they all look excellent too!! Harry Houdini Models has done an absolutely stunning job on his, you should have a look!!

dkstryker: I can see your comment in the notifications but not on here!! Thanks for watching and commenting, very much appreciated. To keep the rigging straight was a bit of a chore, I tried to keep the tension in the line while I tied it into place, but sometimes this meant that some of the tension on some of the other rigging sagged a little, so I had to go back and fix that!! A bit of a nightmare when you don't know what you're doing!! LOL!!

Fair comment, but I do them just for the enjoyment of gluing a few bits together. :-)
