Welcome to WATERCOLOR by Scarlett Damen your online watercolour Art School for everyone from beginners to advanced watercolorists.
Here you’ll find lots of watercolor painting tutorials for beginners and new artists with simple step by step classes covering how to use watercolour and basics and beginner watercolor techniques. (everything from how to paint a graduated and variegated wash, choosing the right watercolour paper, to using salt, plastic wrap, soap and alcohol in your paintings as let's not forget watercolour texture medium and of course everything you ever wanted to know about watercolour masking fluid… to name a few.)
I’ve also created many full-length watercolour lessons for intermediate and advanced watercolorists wanting to learn how to paint botanical art in watercolour. These classes include both speed paintings with commentary and full watercolor painting step by step demonstrations to help you learn to master watercolour techniques as well as lots of art tips, watercolour facts and fun painting tricks to help you along your art journey.
My Watercolour Materials:
Paints:
My watercolor supplies include Winsor and Newton professional Watercolor paints and Winsor & Newton Cotman paint as well as Schminke watercolors. I also love to make my own paint using Sennelier Watercolours pigments and sometimes include some Liquid Watercolors as well. In my humble opinion, these are the best watercolor paints ever!
Brushes:
I mostly use DaVinci professional watercolor sable brushes from DaVinci's maestro series #35. However, I also love to use sable watercolor paint brushes from Rosemary and Co.
Paper:
I love to work with 300gsm hot pressed watercolor paper from Strathmore or Arches or Canson (but I occasionally use 300gsm cold pressed watercolor paper too) For plain-air painting I use a hardbound watercolor sketchbook and for sketching and crafting new painting ideas I use 90gsm sketching paper from Strathmore artists paper.
Extras:
I sometimes use watercolor pencils, watercolor sticks and watercolor markers from Winsor and Newton but watercolor tube paint are my favorite. Love to use dip pens instead of plastic pens and markers as I feel they are both more environmentally friendly and timeless.

Nice review! I like the tiny palette that comes with this, my only change to it was painting the interior of the lid with white enamel for better use as a mixing area.... I also added two additional colors where the sponge originally resided.

I used the extra sponge space, as well, and just added a bigger sponge where the brush is in that neat little pallet. Since I carry other brushes, I could probably use that space for more colors, but I love the charm of it. I tried using an enamel paint on the lid, but it came out awful. What brand/color/type did you use?
Wow the price have jumped. Now it is "on sale" for 113 USD... and it cost 125 for shipping to me... so sadly, not getting one.
Take a extra look around to see how much plasctic you have around you... Table, remote, the elastic in the bag, camholder, power outlet, ...

Ya it really is beautiful. I took the straps off and I've been tossing it in my purse when ever I go out.
I have this set, and the case is fake leather: plastic. You probably have a lot more things in your life that are plastic without being aware of it. I am actually very happy that it is plastic, rather than leather! I also refuse to purchase animal hair brushes.
You’re right. Although it’s really hard too tell.
Indeed it’s incredible just how much of our life of plastic. I try to stay away from it. But it’s definitely not easy.

mine came with a brush size steel rod I have no ideal what it is for. this is on cheap joes what a bargin case is $58.00 with everything
At a guess - it's a muddler. This type of kit was originally designed as a portable bar for taking adult beverages and bar tools on the road. Clever of Cheap Joe's to think of using it as a plein air kit, but there are any number of designs that would do the same thing.
i have onr of the kits the case is pleather (not real leather)
I thought so but I wasn't sure and didn't want to say it wasn't when it was but thats wonderful to know- guilt free travel bag! thanks for letting me know. I'll put a note in the description box.
