- Ford GT40s were the steeds for a fierce battle between three-time Le Mans winner and Formula E racer Andre Lotterer and triple BTCC champion Gordon Shedden. Racing at the 78th Goodwood Members' Meeting in the Gurney Cup the two racing legends battled hard for the lead.

What an absolutely beautiful race car. That was a precious period in racing history when all the cars were different and very unique.
The race cars in the 50's and 60's were more like works of art. Even through the 70's. Now you can't tell one from the other. They all look the same.
It's such a great looking car!....the template for the best looking car ever that came later in recent years; the Ford GT.
The original GT40 is such an iconic car! A real treat to see them being driven properly by people who know how.

There I was reading Octane Magazine about the Shedden GT40. Talk about "what you focus on appears".
First time I ever noticed they have versions of the door to accomodate taller drivers.
That's called the Gurney Bubble. That bubble was designed to accommodate Dan Gurney because he was so tall. Gurney was 6'2" and his head hit the roof
inside the Ford GT MKIV . Gurney and AJ Foyt won LeMans in the Ford GT MKIV in 1967.
are these GT40s wearing modern tires modern rubber 🤔 ? they wouldn't use 65 year old rubber technology so it must be modern but still looks period
They are absolutely using 65 year-old tire technology on these cars. It's a requirement. Watch how pretty much everything at Goodwood dances through corners, that's (one of) the reasons why. From one of the class rulebooks: *"Cars must only use Dunlop Vintage or 'L' section racing tyres which have 204 compound only and tread pattern CR65 or earlier."*

@@daedalus_20v thats crazy i thought the reason they were so fast is bc of new tires. imagine what these things can do with new ones.
@@HairFollicle I guess what they lack in down force and tires they make up with leightness, power and the drivers larger than normal testicles.
All cars run on period spec tyres.
