I love that you blurred out Andrew's hair! 😂😂😂 It was respectful of him not wanting his helmet hair on camera but also teasing. The best kind of parenting!
You can also throw whole limes, lemons, etc directly in the freezer. They take about 5 minutes to thaw and then you can zest and juice for cooking. I have a lime tree and could never use all the limes when it is producing so this is what I do.
Thats a fantastic idea! I bought a whole bag of limes and most went bad before i could use them all. I swear I never think about freezing things. Thanks for the tip 😉
My husband makes Lemoncello as Christmas gifts and only uses the zest of the lemons. If he's left any zest on the lemons I zest it and freeze. Then I juice some and freeze in ice cube trays then pop into a freezer bag. The rest goes into a freezer bag whole to be used for cooking.
I am watching this while eating a clearance buffalo salad kit with clearance popcorn chicken and clearance NAAN!! I’ve been clearance shopping for months, and this is the first naan I’ve found!! Dinner was less than $3- I thank you for teaching me your ways, Sensei 🙏🏻
once a month, I spend 6-8 hours cooking meals, vegetable, beans , rice and snacks to fill up my freezer. I use them for lunchs and diners for the entire month! This make my others sunday prep very short !
For extra ham, make a giant Mac and cheese and dice up your ham and add it and a bag of broccoli florets. Freeze it boom, one dish meal ready to go with a side salad.
We had a couple of financial surprises recently so I went back to this video for inspiration. I made the commitment to use all of the meat, veggies, potatoes, bread, etc in our freezer & the sauces, canned ingredients, pastas, rice, other grains, etc before buying more. After I went through everything & took inventory, I went through my cookbooks & found recipes for things I can make with what we have. I think we can go 2 months without buying any meat & a good month & 1/2 without buying shelf stable items. That means I will only need to buy fresh produce, dairy products, eggs & other fresh items. My plan is to shop sales for things we need to buy & spend no more than $50 a week. Today, it was $48 using Target Circle & I did buy several things that will last beyond this week. Very excited to see how this goes!
I'm just upset with myself that I couldn't place the episode right away! Clearly, I'm out of practice LOL. I'm thinking maybe it's the scene with the burning loin?
In my experience, most things are fine past their Best Buy dates. The only bad experience I’ve had was with mayo based products. LOL that being said, I don’t stock up on mayo based products anymore.
Canned tomato paste is always more than you need. It only takes a couple of minutes to freeze what you don't use in Tbs amounts. I just used some the other night making soup and it was so convenient.
When I have leftover ham with the bone, I boil the whole thing. So when there's about as much as in your video....start boiling! After the ham has fallen off the bone, toss the bone. Now you have all the broth you need plus the the ham, and it doesn't take as much space in the freezer because it lays flat.
I started my first freezer and pantry challenge about a month ago. It is amazing to realize how much food you actually have. Each week I spend only about 25.00 on fruits and fresh vegetables (I have a lot of frozen veggies) and despite starting the second month I feel like I’ve barely made a dent. 😅 I’m a household of one though so it’s gonna take a while, especially with a small chest freezer to power through, but both my reduction in grocery costs and food waste feels fantastic.
I am doing a similar clean out of my food. I did an Excel spreadsheet listing all the food in the freezer and pantry - listing the item, how many of each item and the expiration date. I then sorted it by the expiration date and way-lah - I have my meal plan for the next couple of months!! I chuckled when you were referring to the expiration/use by/sell by dates. I have an assortment of them too. 😂 I have some items that are opened such as frozen chicken tenders & some broccoli, so those will be used up first. I have a smaller freezer and pantry cupboard but I am only cooking for myself so this food will last for the next 3 months. It will also lower my food costs during this time which is fantastic as this grandma needs Christmas money!
We are luckily in this financial environment not struggling by the grace of God but we are insanely frugal none the less and your videos keep me inspired with so many new ideas all the time. I appreciate all the time and energy you give to us and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you
Christine, I love your channel and I absolutely thought the idea of the Beam Dream was a great idea, because has a horrible time sleeping. I went and looked at it and it way out of our price range. We are seniors and live on social security. I am working really hard on not messing up our budget, so this is something I will have to pass on. Thanks for the suggestion.
I started doing that this summer! I don’t know how to cook for just myself. I’d make a full meal, and I put the leftovers in individual serving freezer safe containers! Now, I have teacher lunch every day, and I don’t have to eat the same thing 5 days in a row. :)
Please try a “Picadillo” recipe! Super cheap and will feed family and can be stretched to provide leftovers. You can serve it with Spanish rice or even steamed rice 😊 Hamburger meat, onions, potato, veggies(green beans, bell peppers , carrots , corn, zucchini) You can add whichever you like🙂
On freezing onions--if you have a freezer separate from your ice it works fine. My family always complains the ice tastes of onions if I freeze them in the same freezer!. Our favorite left over ham--funeral potatoes with ham in it.
Also, it depends what type of storage container you place those chopped onions in before you place them in the freezer. If you're using a Ziploc bag, I highly recommend a double bag with the first bag being placed zipper side down inside the second bag. If you're using a cryo bag, make sure it's the thick one. Otherwise, I would recommend a Lock & Lock container.
I’ve been doing this for three weeks and I didn’t have that much in my freezer! My problem is that when I have to go to the stores for a few essentials, I see meat on special but I can’t buy it!!!🤪
You should try boiling down that ham bone and chopped onions w/garlic and make split pea soup. Ham bone is the best seasoning for making pea soup. Not sure if this is something that y'all like to eat but it's a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing.
I also save a little meat on my ham bone, and put in freezer for a future meal of pinto beans and ham. I keep buying taco seasoning packets, I actually have a recipe to make it, and I did make it in the past and it was good. But just forget to do it, or make sure I have all the spices. I keep a list of all the meals I can make with ground beef on my freezer, when I have those moments, I can't think what to have for dinner.
I can’t eat peanut butter except when using it as dip for my apples. With anything else it makes me gag and I don’t know why because I never had a problem with it before. Yesterday, I just cleaned out my kitchen pantries because I need to start doing a clean out with all this food. Thank you for all the tips!
I did a freezer cleanout before my summer holidays. We ate most of our basement freezer contents, a few mystery bags were decluttered in the process and the few remainders I had, I stored in my small (European) freezer compartment in the upstairs fridge. We bought only a few necessities and the savings went to my holiday fund. In the end I could defrost the basement freezer before we went on holiday, and I could leave it shut off. Even more savings :)
1) I just noticed your brilliant, practical yet frugal turn-table next to the stove holding ALL the things we use ALL the time, and suddenly I feel the need! 2) I want your hunter-green t-shirt. My favorite color looks amazing on you!! Why is it so hard to find t-shirts that aren't too high or low-neckline?? It is silly-hard. 3) I started listening to your FFM podcasts last month and I am totally addicted!! ❤❤❤
Laughed out loud when you said the thing about protein powder you bought with good intentions. Yeah, that's me. Yes you are cooking even if you don't get stuff on the counter. Lol. I cook every single day at least 2 times a day. I'm ruthlessly organized and an extremely tidy cook. 🙂❤

For stale chips, you can throw them in the air fryer for a couple minutes and it will make them crunchy and crisp again 😊
You can throw them in the oven too. 350 for 15-20min.
What!?!? Thanks for the tip. I need to try this!
Nice tip.
Works for stale popcorn too!!
Omg I do this all the time! Sometimes they’re even tastier
I love that you blurred out Andrew's hair! 😂😂😂 It was respectful of him not wanting his helmet hair on camera but also teasing. The best kind of parenting!
OMG! I loved that you used Kimberly "Whisk" in this video!!!! I love Kim so very much!!!!!! She's a hoot!
That made me laugh too, I love Kim
You can also throw whole limes, lemons, etc directly in the freezer. They take about 5 minutes to thaw and then you can zest and juice for cooking. I have a lime tree and could never use all the limes when it is producing so this is what I do.
Wow! I had no idea. Thanks for the tip!😊
Thats a fantastic idea! I bought a whole bag of limes and most went bad before i could use them all. I swear I never think about freezing things. Thanks for the tip 😉
Great tip! Didn’t know they can be frozen 😮

@THEWADS reference 12:43😂
once a month, I spend 6-8 hours cooking meals, vegetable, beans , rice and snacks to fill up my freezer. I use them for lunchs and diners for the entire month! This make my others sunday prep very short !
That’s my plan once I finally get a bigger freezer 💪🏻
SAVE THE HAM BONE people ! Perfect for broths, beans, ect. DO NOT just trash it
For extra ham, make a giant Mac and cheese and dice up your ham and add it and a bag of broccoli florets. Freeze it boom, one dish meal ready to go with a side salad.
Yeah! The freezer clean outs and your touch all the things grocery hauls are my favorites
I love that you threw Kimberly in ❤😂 I love you ideas your amazing Christine I love her "apparently" too lol 😅😂

That pie had a wink and a smile! How adorable! Thanks for the video! You’re an inspiration of great ideas!
“Not expired! Just best before”
😂
Ok the inserted clips were soooo good today! Anytime someone references the Gilmore Girls I am 100% in. Oy with the poodles and copper boom!
I'm just upset with myself that I couldn't place the episode right away! Clearly, I'm out of practice LOL. I'm thinking maybe it's the scene with the burning loin?
I wanted to comment that I am always impressed with the inserted clips! How does she find them?!? 😂
I love that you're not afraid to use things past their best before date!
In my experience, most things are fine past their Best Buy dates. The only bad experience I’ve had was with mayo based products. LOL that being said, I don’t stock up on mayo based products anymore.
As a mom of teenage boys, the hat incident was too real 😅 Hair is super important!!!😂
Omg Tony’s always makes me sneeze! Your channel is my new favorite. Can’t stop watching!
FINALLY! It feels like it’s been six months since you posted one of these ❤
Canned tomato paste is always more than you need. It only takes a couple of minutes to freeze what you don't use in Tbs amounts. I just used some the other night making soup and it was so convenient.
'Because I like sugar' 😆 Same Dave. SAAAAAME 🤪
Oh Danny Kaye!! White Christmas is one of my favourite movies❤🎄
Love the nod to Kim from The Wads. 😅 you and her I just love the entertainment
THANK YOU for the ham inspo!! I felt so seen because I've had a ham we "earned" from our grocery store during a holiday promotion around Easter. 🤣
I also like cubing up those awkward large chunks of extra ham and adding it to some homemade mac and cheese as an easy freezer meal. 😋
We always do a pantry challenge in the end of summer into fall. It helps make room in our house and budget for holiday goodies later on!
When I have leftover ham with the bone, I boil the whole thing. So when there's about as much as in your video....start boiling! After the ham has fallen off the bone, toss the bone. I am currently trying to do this as well. I have at least 3+ weeks worth of meals planned out without having to buy anything but a few produce items
We are luckily in this financial environment not struggling by the grace of God but we are insanely frugal none the less and your videos keep me inspired with so many new ideas all the time. I appreciate all the time and energy you give to us and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you
YIKES! I’ve got a cow coming toooo!! Thanks for the reminder. Gotta get the freezer space ready.
I got 5 of the .99 peanut butter last week! Gotta love Kroger!! ❤
Also! That holiday ham? The leftover makes FANTASTIC sandwiches with some pickles, sallad and a nice spread/mayo/sauce 🎉
The end bit was hilarious, especially the blurred out lid!
Lol loved that Kimberly whisk showed up!!

I only noticed the tucans the second time I watched this and now I can't stop laughing 😂 You're always hilarious, Christine
I was told OLD SCHOOL
that freezer cook refreezing is a no no?
I started doing that this summer! I don’t know how to cook for just myself. I’d make a full meal, and I put the leftovers in individual serving freezer safe containers! Now, I have teacher lunch every day, and I don’t have to eat the same thing 5 days in a row. :)

You can add whichever you like🙂
When it comes to most spices you just end up using more after the best use-by date. Don't throw it away just use more to achieve the taste you want.
Your add in videos are hilarious 😂
I clean out my pantry refrigerator and freezers on a regular monthly basis

Also try placing an open box of baking soda in your freezer to help with odors.
I've tried everything. My family just swears they can taste it--I can't.

I’m always behind watching videos but LOVE the advice, humour and meal ideas. The ham bone would make an awesome split pea soup!
We are in the process of cleaning out our freezers too- its hard not to buy more great deals whike trying to do this😊
Yay my favorite type of video from you!
I'm right there with u Christine! I've got to clean out to make room for the Thanksgiving turkey and then the Christmas baking!❤
Love your inserts! They make my day! 😂
Dave's reaction to Andrew is the best
The end and Andrew were the best part of the video!
I’ve been doing this for three weeks and I didn’t have that much in my freezer! My problem is that when I have to go to the stores for a few essentials, I see meat on special but I can’t buy it!!!🤪

My 1 and half year old heard your voice came running and curled up to watch your video. The only person she ever does that to.
Gosh i love your hair like that! So beautiful girl!!! ❤
I haven’t seen your videos on my feed for a while. Commenting hi to stay on the algorithm!
That jalapeño jar is looking pretty full!
Christian has become my favorite notification received, she's just a burst of positive energie 🙉
One, very smart, useful ideas/lessons. Two, so funny
Split pea soup with ham is also amazing.
Yes. I confess to having protein powder that I bought with good intentions but haven't been using.
I like to dice that ham and use leftover rice, veggies in the fridge, and eggs for some ham fried rice - it is an excellent dump dish.
Got signed up for All Access! Thank you & can’t wait !👏🏽👏🏽
It would be great if we saw the before n after the pantries n freezers to see that satisfying dent
I cube and slice up the leftover ham from Easter and freeze it. The slices go for sandwich meat, and the cubes are used in soup or for omelets.
My boyfriend’s motto…”it’s not expired it’s best before!”😆
Love freezer use ups! Thanks for the inspiration. 🎉
You could always set the slow cooker in the sink just in case it runs over.
You can manor hame and cheese sandwiches you can put it in beans 😊
You should try boiling down that ham bone and chopped onions w/garlic and make split pea soup. Ham bone is the best seasoning for making pea soup. Not sure if this is something that y'all like to eat but it's a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing.
I love splitcpea and ham soup, ham and cheese quiche, potato ham and cheese soup or bacon ham Mac and cheese bake!❤
Husband's trying not to laugh was too funny.
Normally we eat leftovers for lunch the next day. Started that during lockdown and it stuck!
I love these videos!
Ham and Lentils.... ham and scalloped potatoes.... chef salad... pasta salad.
I have 2 of those big packs of romaine heads for tonight. I'm going to make grilled salad! It is so delicious 😋 😊
Ham doesn’t last long in my house. It’s all spent on ham n beans and a white bean soup. 😍😍😍
Love the bangs Christine they frame your face and bring out your pretty doe eyes
I cracked up at you blurring your sons hair until he got his hat! 😂
I'm here for the comedy clips!!!
I also save a little meat on my ham bone, and put in freezer for a future meal of pinto beans and ham. I would love to see your recipes for these meals you created. 😊❤
I love the clips you add.😂
Hahaha...dad's response to the boys is too funny. "Magically delicious"😂😂😂
I can’t eat peanut butter except when using it as dip for my apples. With anything else it makes me gag and I don’t know why because I never had a problem with it before. Yesterday, I just cleaned out my kitchen pantries because I need to start doing a clean out with all this food. Thank you for all the tips!
Ham in my area has not been 0.99 cents a pound since April 2019
LOVE the Gilmore Girls reference. and the Wads reference. lol.
I loooooovvvvveeeee your freezer and pantry clean outs. Please do them more
I did a freezer cleanout before my summer holidays. Tortilla chips are great to refresh in the air fryer
I have watched you since the very beginning (when you were still the old name) and I still love all your videos!!
