That’s a beautiful monitor, this gives me more confidence to learn soldering. I would like to recap my crt since the picture will shake sometimes and only fix I have is to turn it off and on.

Good job! The process looks intimidating and I am not sure if I should risk fixing my crt monitor by myself lol

really nice monitor and perfect size for my taste.
I definitely have to revive mine, for some reason it died and not even the power led is working.
By the way do you know of any way to reset the CRT tv service menu values apart from the service menu option?
For some reason even though I select the reset option in the menu it does not run

hi very nice video!, i didnt understand the capacitor's reading part very well, what are you measuring, resistance?

Hi AnimationBubble! Great video, I'm having issues with my Iiyama VMP 514: screen shakes sometimes and it's a lot less bright than normal. Do you think the brightness problem could be related to bad capacitors/solder joints? I hope the CRT's not worn out, the picture is still very sharp.

nicely done and a good example for present unteachable throwaway society. CRT displays are somewhat power-hungry, at about 100 watts for a typical 19-inch display. The average is about 45 watts for a 19-inch LCD display.

I have a 1997 black IBM Aptiva monitor (model 7095) with integrated speakers on both sides.
Problem is that sometimes the display flickers to a green tone on & off or sometimes stay that way for a long while or untill I shutted down & turn it on again.

Great vidoe, and great job fixing! Can you post a link to the in-circuit ESR chart you showed briefly? I can't seem to find one online anywhere.

Is dangerous reparing a CRT monitor? I never dissassembled a CRT. Great job man!

the dangerous part is discharging the tube. the tube can hold thousands of volts even after being unplugged. There are videos on youtube that show how to discharge a crt. its really easy, just a wire attached to a screwdriver and it takes about 5 seconds. i woulda shown that part but i already had the monitor apart when i decided to start making a video. thanks

@@FunBubble i've got a philips 107P4, 202P7 (22 inch version of one you fixed) and a 107B as my daily setup for my pc. each one has some kind of a minor problem, the 107 sometimes goes black randomly and when i whack it lightly, picture comes back, the 202p7 is a bit dim with a bit of shakyness, and the 107B sometimes clicks and picture zooms out like if it was being first turned on. i guess im gonna start fixing the 107P4. nice video mate!

I got a flicker issue, not major. I guess recapping would help. Only happens on the top portion of the screen. Not a full screen flicker, hard to explain. Imagine a dialog box (drawing of a square) and the top horizontal line looks like it cant decide if it wants to use one of two scan lines. Maybe its normal, dunno...
Also in some games, kingsom hearts 2, if i open the menu, the image kinda puffs and goes normal, same with exiting. Maybe it has to do with when dark images are overlayed on light backgrounds, or dimming when a menu opens. Weird...
I gotta get in there anyway, doing the RGB mod once my tools arrive. It has component, not progressive.. also noticed 80 column text isn't as sharp on component on my other screens as it is on direct RGB.. why is that?

Hello, I have a hp pavilion mx70 crt monitor and what happens is that the part of the screen blinks sometimes because in the black of the image they sometimes look like flashes of light, I renewed welds that had bad and continue Likewise, I even got to suspect the flyback screen potentiometer but I don't think that is it, what do you think it is?

hi, id test all the capacitors. they dry out with age and eventually need to be replaced. its one of the most common causes of glitches.

My Dell P1130 is exhibiting the same symptoms, flickering along the horizontal plane. (it would start slightly underscanned and stretch and flicker its way to an overscanned image.

    • @FunBubble
      @FunBubble  3 года назад +2

its probably the capacitors. They dry out as the years pass.

I had two working monitors and something happened to my PC (I think either the VGA card or memory card needed to be re-socketed) however after many attempts to reboot the computer they no longer display video signal even though the CRT screen crackles when turned on and the light is green on the power on LEDindicator at the front- also filaments are lit, thus the CRT cathode guns should produce electrons. I do not know what else to check - does anyone have any ideas? I had to set those monitors aside and plugged a monitor that I knew was working and managed to boot my computer in the end. However, I want to salvage those big monitors because I use them for gaming. Anyone has an idea where the problem might be?
