While there were amazing scenes in 5 - 7, the show really is 1 - 4. Season 5 was the beginning of the end.

I felt like this should have ended after season 4 when Hank drove off into the sunset...but then hey, sure season 7. It'd be nice if they bring back Trixie cuz I always felt like she understands Hank the most before they introduced Rob Lowe.

This show should've ended at season 6. This would make a perfect story and sense if Hank just simply run away with Faith.
I had the same thought. Faith was like Karen.2 - she was like her in so many ways, yet not as …..flakey? Not sure how to describe it. They would have been a perfect couple.
This show should have ended after season 1, then, for the lack of a better ending, after season 4 and then... it doesn't matter anymore.
It's really sad the show is over. I hate shows that leave you hanging and this show did that...sadly. The way it ended. What happened with Hank and Karen? Or Levon? There has got to be an 8th season at least. Just to wrap things up a little bit better.

It will be another fun season... but the ship kind of sailed with this show a while ago. I mean watch the Pilot episode then watch a random episode from season 5 or 6. The writers got lazy and the show became too bizarre. Duchovny is always gold.. but you can tell he started to mail it in around Season 4-5.

I'm sorry but fuck this season. Don't get me wrong the ending was perfect, it was exactly how I wanted it to end, but it should've just been one single episode. Becca announces she's going to be married, Hank reads the letter to Karen, you're not sure if they're gonna end up together. I don't know what they were thinking with Levon but he was one of the WORST creations by a writer of all time, I hated the TV and Stu paying Marcy to bang him storylines. Such a disappointing final season, but at least the ending was good.

im so glad its the final season. was a big fan but now its painful to watch. end it already.
I LOVED this show, just wish Hank would have not gotten back with Karen. I think if the premise was getting love right the first time that Hank should have accepted it and moved on. Faith was a much better choice for him. Heck, even Julia. I'd have even preferred Trixie because to piggy back on Hank... just because she's fucked 1000 guys for money doesn't mean she isn't a lady of virtue.
I relate Hank to be like Jay Gatsby. He only wants one girl, and he wants her so he can relive the past, and to try and pick up where they left off. When in fact you can not repeat the past. Gatsby failed to win over Daisy but Hank won Karen.

I have a feeling he only speaks like that when he's used to be in the character of Hank and this interview was probably filmed between takes while they were filming the final season :P

It got too raunchy in it's latter years. I like a little raunch but there is such a thing as too much. Plus, the Karen-ship was dead horse by the end of season 4. Hank should have redeemed himself and ended up with someone else. The show's supposed about grim reality, and in real life, despite what the fairytales tell us, people don't always end up with their first love. Faith and Julia were much better matches for Hank. Karen just wanted to change him, and Faith and Julie accepted him for who he was. Sure, they shouldn't just let him go off the deep end, but I think Karen was too judgmental most of the time. Besides, who would choose Karen over Heather Graham or Maggie Grace?
