How to open the battery compartment on the Leica DISTO D2

Works for Makita LP060P, too. The mechanisms just as the devices over all are identical. I'd never have pushed the lever that hard. Thanks!
All online manuals just said "see drawing C", but there weren't any drawings.

They even left a gap where you really want to insert a screwdriver, but this leaves dents on the body and lid.
