With a big bag you can easily lose your stuff in there and be hunting in the depths for an embarrassing amount of time whilst people queue up behind you. So what I do is have a tiny bag of essentials inside the big bag. Then it is not too heavy and you can find things easily in the little bag. But if you need to pop in a cardigan or light jacket you are sorted because of the big bag. It's a win win!
