    Walked this trail as hiker green horn and this trail made me fall in love with hiking...what a great time to have in my memory

    Thanks for the upload. I decided I want to hike this path after watching a few videos and doing some research. I’m located in Swansea so not far and easy enough to do it in stages on days off as I just can’t get 10 days off in one go. Last weekend I hiked between Amroth and Manorbier but want to get as far as Pembroke by mid September.

    Fabulous trail. Completed last half ...headed southbound... in 2019! Still need to finish southern half. I wore Chacos entire way. Very accurate video well done!

      Thanks Melanie, it's just amazing! The second half was my favourite bit so I think you've seen some of the best scenery. But the first half has some great spots too. The Chacos are mad! Didn't you get terrible blisters?

    • @melaniegarden3416
      @melaniegarden3416 3 года назад

      No because I was also wearing injini toe socks!! Didn’t want to carry camp shoes and also wanted to be able to walk thru water! Best treat was lunch on outside terrace at #druidstonehotel wild camped one night near Strumble Head, stayed in hostel one night and a night each at Morawelon and Newgale Camp and both were fabulous camping grounds. Desperate to go back and finish remaining 70 miles!

      @@melaniegarden3416 Injini socks are great, I wear them too. Sounds like a great trip all in all! Good luck with the next section - maybe you can do it this spring/summer!

    Great advice, especially the water filter and remoteness

    Firstly, big well done on completing the walk Matt, outstanding achievement and I look forward to watching the footage. Second, Excellent de-brief very informative and concise, certainly given me food for thought. Last but not least, big thumbs up and appreciation for all the work(s) undertaken by you to produce these videos culminating in taking us along so as to share the experience. Much appreciated. Thanks Graham, hopefully some of the small tips can help with the planning. I know I learnt a few things walking this trail, so why not pass it on :). Cheers, Matt

    Great stuff! Watched the two walk vids and now really tempted by this one (even checked the flights from Belfast after watching!) - I'm a wild camper and this lockdown has us all going bananas, so was great to see you can get a pitch along the way... atb Sinco

      Awesome, glad you enjoyed them! Yeah I agree - I'm itching to get out. Pemb Coast is great for wild camping. Good luck if you decide to go!

    Thanks for putting this together Matt. Great intro to the Path. I’ve looked at a lot of different National Trails now and I think this could be the one for me. Well half anyway. If you could go back for 5 to 7 days, where would you start and finish?

    Hoping to do a 3 day section of this path next month from st David's round to fishguard, it's great that someone's making videos of the UK's long distance paths! I have at least three near where I live in mid wales, the Severn way, offa's dyke and glyndwr's way.

      Great choice, that was probably my favourite section on the trail. Carn Llidi above Whitesands Bay is astonishing! Then the coastline leading up to Stumble Lighthouse - sensational. Makes me want to do it again just thinking about it 😆. Offa's Dyke is definitely one I'd like to do - I haven't heard of the others so thanks for the recommendations! I'll be sure to check them out :)

    Really enjoyed your videos of the walk itself. This is very helpful for the practicalities of preparing for such a long journey. It really appears to be quite isolated in places. Did you meet many others on the trail?

    • @mattwalkwild6784
      @mattwalkwild6784  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Catherine, I tried to include a bit of both - the scenery and the info on the walk! I met a few people who were doing shorter sections, maybe a day walk here and there, but I didn't actually meet anyone walking the whole trail. There were lots of people in the campsites who were on beach holidays and that kind of thing, so I wasn't alone for the duration!

    I’m looking forward to doing this trail as downtime after just finishing the Cape Wrath Trail :-). And actually having a path to walk on as opposed to 85% bog and just about every shitty kind of weather that Mother Nature can throw at you 😆 .

    Great video lots of useful information. Wildcamping wise did you get spotted by anyone? Interesting about limited water supply.

      No I didn't have any problems wild camping. I did it during the first two weeks of September with very sunny weather and no one bothered me. Water is a bit of a challenge. It was harder when I did it because lots of places were closed for COVID. If I were you I'd do prior research and mark out public toilets, cafes, shops, so you know where you can fill up.

    It is odd that you could wild camp in that area as it seems to be entirely farmland. I am looking at the coastal path on satellite map and to the left are the cliffs and to the right are farmers land. The few hills and uncultivated lands that I see every 3-4km are narrow and rather exposed. Houses are also dotted everywhere within 100 meters so the landowner could easily take notice of your presence. Pitching on the beach might be a better option if allowed.

    • @mattwalkwild6784
      @mattwalkwild6784  3 года назад

      Yeah it’s true the path is wedged between the two. I spent most of my nights camped on the headlands which are much bigger and more remote than you might think. Camping high isn’t for everyone but I love it. Beach pitching could be great but sometimes you can’t get down to the coves as the cliffs are too steep!
