I absolutely love how Hadrian reacted when you told her. She didn't flip her shit like basically all these characters always do. She understands what duty means and what it means to give your word. It was a mature reaction that understands and acknowledges there is another human being on the other end of the situation with thoughts, feelings, motivations, obligations, promises, and so many other facets.
That's rare for me to have seen. Love this game.

I can't decide whether to turn him in or not.. on the one hand he's a sociopathic egomaniac who was responsible for killing dozens with the terrormorph attacks and also betrayed his old war buddy Orlaese.
On the other hand, he was the fall guy for the colony war and didn't necessarily deserve to be executed to begin with (even though his knowledge of the terrormorphs wasn't disclosed) and he is offering to stop future threats to the UC.
A pragmatic person would let him live because he could be more useful, but a just person would see him finally deserve the execution that was staved off.

Just like the Crimson Fleet, you can’t actually say (in game) why I chose the to turn in the Fleet or Victus. Victus immediately starts talking about how his name holds weight and influence now. There’s nothing stopping him from doing more damage in the name of “security” or just to ensure his possible release. As for the Fleet, they betrayed each other (or at least plotted to) at literally every opportunity they could. Their bad behavior, both groups, wasn’t going away.

I actually didn't even finish the UC Vanguard questline until Lv100+ and NG+. This was a real good series of quests. There's a lot of moral grey going on here. Personally I exposed the lie but on the flip side I won't be surprised if a player elects to keep the lie going on even if he's trying to play a good aligned character.
    SPOILER
I do understand Vae Victis' dilemma during the original Londinion disaster. The truth of how Terrormorphs were made is so simple and horrifying, potentially so devastating to humanity that he did horrible things to keep that knowledge a secret. As distasteful as that was I do understand.
Being one of the fall guy for the end of the Colony War was also messed up once you start digging past the surface. He was sentenced to "die" for peace because of Londinion and Cheyenne. For Cheyenne he was condemned for destroying civilian vessels, but the Freestar Collective were using civilian ships as a shield during the battle.
The points above I did understand as just, up to a point. But it's after all this that his righteousness disappears. Look, I understand the hard choices he made at Londinion and Cheyenne, but he orchestrates the new Terrormorph attacks. There's some shady stuff going on with him and Reginald Orlase, and he sends you after Orlase as a way to tie up a loose end. The two were friends. He's "loyal" to the UC but there's still resentment from Francois Sanon that he was "executed" and then imprisoned for unjust reasons. He's been stuck in a prison cell for many years. He picks out a remote civilian settlement to test what he knew about Terrormorph creation and deemed these people as disposable for it. He does the New Atlantis Terrormorph attack as a twisted way to gain good standing for his clone daughter, and to see the Sanon name be salvaged. People died for this.
The UC doesn't get off in this whole thing IMO. For the simple fact that Francois Sanon's execution was fake and the terms of the Armistice were not complied with. It was all a lie. Then the UC had the audacity to imprison Vae Victis and still made use of his services while he was in a prison cell. Did the UC leadership really believe that there would be no resentment on Sanon's part for using him while imprisoning him at the same time?
I just completed this questline late last night. I do need to see exactly what the UC Cabinet does. They were not happy when presented with the facts. Their head diplomat knew of the secret that Sanon was still alive and he wasn't happy about it because this was going to be a huge risk and a problem later on. The recent events justified his concerns. The president knew and was happy to keep the secret but the Terrormorph attacks angered her. But I haven't seen Vae Victis dead yet with my own eyes. For all I know the UC got angry but still kept him.

I know many of you let him live simply bc you want to reap the benefits from more side missions. From a gamer’s perspective, I think that is perfectly logical. I mean, what is the main goal for us (gamers)? To play video games and have fun, right? So having more side missions is definitely something we’d enjoy.
Now if you’re talking about morality check, to let him live is a double edged sword. I know many of you will say he is smart and can benefit the colony in a long run, especially if there was another war. He’d be a great advisor. My concern is, he has already proven how dangerous he can be even under containment. He has access and ability to reach the outside world undetected. Say you let him live under the assumption that his knowledge will benefit the colony. I wouldn’t be comfortable with that. For all I know he’s already plotting something big to include his own escape when the time comes. So to me, he is more dangerous than usefulness.
But I let him live, bc I want to play more missions. Nothing to do with who lives, who dies at all 😂

  • @Cmoth040

Honestly, this isn't a difficult decision to make. Vae Victus goes down. My only question is about the order of choices. The logical next step after discovering the truth shouldn't be to confront him directly. The logical choice is to report the information to the UC command structure and supply them with the audio recording. However that option isn't available. This irritated me so much that I paused the game just to find a video on this mission so I could vent. Obviously, the writers at Bethesda have never been in investigations. This reaction is childish. Just run straight to the evil genius who has been several steps ahead and tell him before anybody else that you discovered he's the Bond villain? Really?

This story is so good. I am usually a goodie two shoes in games through and through but this quest has me fucking stumped. The first time where i am truly conflicted about what is right and wrong. I feel like i should tell the truth and have this man executed but then those war criminals get away with their crimes. It's like i see that even what he originally did (bombing the londinion space port was the right move and i think i would have done the same, which was save the galaxy from a xenomorph outbreak and keep the reproduction of xenomorph aliens a secret). It's even understandable that he gets revenge on the UC for unfairly targeting him (obviously not reasonable for killing innocent people). Not only are his motives somewhat understandable but also it allows me to continue to track down the evil people that committed war crimes bring them to justice. Obviously him killing innocent people at the UC space port is unforgivable even if i can u understand the motive of why he did it. It's do you think the people of londonion and the UC space port died deserve justice or the greater causualties and war crimes committed during the war between the UC and the free star collective deserve justice more? Those people are out there evading justice. It would be amazing if the next set of quests from him try to set you up as the co conspirator of dr. Esiel (or whatever the guy he originally set up) and you had to figure it out and then tell the cabinet you lied in order to track down war criminals. This almost reminds me of operation paperclip where the US used Nazi scientists for their space program (obviously the Nazis scientists were not as bad as vae victus lolol)

And since he's imprisoned, wouldn't it do more ''good deeds'' lying and getting rid of more bad guys, or killing him kind of make no difference on the bigger scheme? Like the targets he makes us kill, would they still be relevant if telling the truth and make him executed? This is such a dilemma, I wanted to get him executed but also wanted more rewards & get rid of bad guys that were not imprisoned...So I did became his hitman for the ''greater good'', but I don't know if sparing him will come bite me in the a** at one point lol. As bad as this guy is and I too want to put him to justice, putting away more criminals would help in the long run. As long as he doesn’t set up more attacks because now WE know the info, and I doubt he would. Still, considering DLC’s and such, who knows. Kinda hope this won’t be the last we see of him or this storyline
