@@jsh020 I don't know what in that clip would lead you to believe they aren't friends. It's pretty obvious he's talking about not working together professionally because of all the bad press Jon had brought on himself, but business is business, it has nothing to do with being friends. If anything the fact that he delicately hints at "probably not gonna happen" instead of coming right out and saying "nah fuck that guy" (which would have earned him kudos from all the people who were pissed at Jon) seems to make it pretty obvious that they are friends and it's awkward for Arin to have to say no to working with Jon in any capacity.

Who is he?
He and Jon did Game Grumps together for about a year. Jon left the show and was replaced with Dan Avidan. A lot of people were really upset about it and there have been all sorts of conspiracy theories since then.
I'd also like to point out that this whole friendship includes Chris and Zach from OneyPlays, both of them doing the writing and Chris also doing music. I love the few sparse episodes you can find of Jon playing video games with them. I know the Oney gang had a falling out with the Grumps at one point. But my current understanding is that they're all ok with each other at the moment. Not much is talked about anymore though. Either way, the content all three of these guys/groups have made is amazing. Not to mentioned they're connections to SuperMega. It would be interesting to see a full comprehensive timeline of all the projects these four groups have worked on and how they're channels developed progressively in relation to each other. Because they're paths constantly cross, but their fan bases are sometimes completely separate from each other. Only sometimes. I know there's a whole group of people that vibe with all four channels, as do I.

one of the reasons luke seems so weird is because this was filmed right after he was in a car crash. which is also why he gets mauled by the wampa at the beginning of empire
***** mark hamill was in a car crash after the original star wars, so he had to have facial reconstructive surgery that changed his appearance slightly. this holiday special was filmed shortly after said car crash, so they loaded up his face with makeup. then when directing empire, they made the wampa attack at the beginning to explain why his face was messed up

Fun fact. Without the holiday special we never would have gotten the Mandalorian as a tv show. The cartoon segment of the special was the first thing Boba Fett was in, and without that we never would have gotten him or Jango or the entire history of mandalore and the mandalorians and a huge part of the clone wars would have never existed. So yeah we have the holiday special to thank for a huge part of star wars continuity
The cartoon segment of this was the only part Lucas was happy with, he even included it as a bonus on the blu-ray set and would rehire the animation studio for the Droids and Ewoks cartoons, even the late Don Francks (of shows like X-Men TAS and movies like Rock and Rule and My Bloody Valentine) was brought back to voice Boba again.
I'm pretty sure it would have happened anyway. The ideas were already a thing before or during production, right? Could have been implemented elsewhere if not the Holiday Special.

That's not true. Episode V was filmed simultaneously to this atrocity here and they put Boba in it as a kind of "sneak peak" at The Empire Strikes Back. But Boba would have been in the film anyways.
