tifa looks the most destroyed among all of them. one of her closest friends has died and her other friend is going crazy. sad, frustrated, angry, maybe a little bit of guilt. i just feel bad for her.

Here are my thoughts, as someone that particularly loves Aerith.
Also, as someone currently playing OG as well, the ending of Rebirth has actually significantly changed the narrative we expect so keep that in mind. Part 3 will genuinely be unrecognizable to us and I'm really looking forward to that.
Let's go back to Costa Del Sol. If you walked with Aerith on the beach, she tells Cloud that he'll meet her future self and that he's going to love her.
Cloud meets this future Aerith in a place that she calls "my dream" and she wants him not to look up. So future Aerith made Cloud wake up in "her dream" and one identifying factor of this being her dream is the iridescence in the sky.
In Costa Del Sol, Aerith asked Cloud what his ideal date would be. He basically responded by saying "a walk" would be an ideal date for him.
In the "dream", as Aerith calls it, they go for a walk through the slums. She tries to create this ideal date for him, making it memorable by pointing out that he's buying his "first gift for Aerith", holding his hand like she always does, buying candy with him and taking a couple's photo together. All this is canon and not optional.
Interestingly enough, what Aerith calls a dream is, instead, called "a world that has accepted its fate" by Sephiroth. Keep that in mind. Future Aerith has created a dream for Cloud. Future Aerith has created a world for Cloud.
In the song No Promises to keep, Aerith sings this line "lived a life without a care, in the world safe for you"
Towards the end of this dream, the purpose of her actions are revealed. The most obvious is that she gives Cloud the White Materia. It's pale green like it should be. The "present" Aerith has one that is transparent and she had said it's because the whispers took important memories away from her.
Basically, future Aerith is returning these important memories to "present" Aerith through Cloud.
The other reasons, apart from saving the world, have to do with understanding the nature of her relationship with Cloud. In my playthrough, Cloud indicated that he wants to spend more time with her just like they were doing. From his words, she finally understands the nature of their relationship. (Cloud would love to continue going on walks with her, where she lovingly holds his hand and he showers her with little gifts and where they share happy moments just like typical couples do e.g. entering couples competitions)
In the end, future Aerith has accomplished what she wanted to do. Sephiroth even said "I underestimated you" to Aerith. The thing is, because Cloud had returned future Aerith's white materia to present Aerith... those important memories returned to our Aerith. Thus there is no longer any difference between "future Aerith" and our Aerith.
"Thanks for returning it to me." Aerith said to Cloud, having received the White Materia. Then she gave her transparent one to Cloud, however, in the final scene of the game Cloud looks at a pale green White Materia. It's full of memories. Memories that Cloud shouldn't have.
At the very end, when Cloud looks at the sky he sees that familiar iridescence from the dream Aerith gave him. I believe Aerith, while trying to help Cloud find himself, has created this "dream" world for him so that he doesn't focus on mourning her. Instead, he has to focus on himself. She's doing him this great gesture of love by creating a world for him where he can see and speak to her lest he mourn unendingly.
Basically, regardless of whether Aerith is dead or alive, Cloud will always be able to be with her. When she's in trouble, she'll "send up smoke" and Cloud, being her bodyguard, will protect her.
I also believe Cloud knows way more than he should because, in the OG, it was only through Bugenhagen that Cloud learnt that Aerith was praying to stop meteor. But in Rebirth's ending, Cloud and Aerith mutually share an understanding of their duties from OG.
Cloud has to stop Sephiroth while Aerith has to stop meteor. This conversation should not be happening at this point in the story at all.
This is why I think Part 3 of VIIR will be shockingly different. We'll see I guess. I, for one, am totally looking forward to it!
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is officially my favourite Final Fantasy (surpassing my love for Final Fantasy X) Cloud and Aerith's love story is just so pure. A love that transcends death.
i dont think so. learning from how SE deliver such tricky part 2 inspite of how much fanbase theory in the end of remake p1, what i get from this rebirth part 2 is that SE were simply explaining how mako poisoning makes the victim capable of diving/witnessing/communicating multiverse but their physical reality remains in their universe. so i wont expect crazy difference in part 3 arch.

i think i kinda get it ?? 58:07 when the boundaries of fate are breached, new worlds are born, then in 1:18:32 we see cloud quite literally breaching the boundary. So we "in rebirth world" DID save Aerith, so now we have three worlds, the OG, the one Zack live, the one Aerith live "the rebirth". but sepiroth somehow wants to merge those worlds??? and cloud who in possession of the black materia is just being thrown all over the place between the worlds, that's why he sees Aerith and talks to aerith sometimes because he is all over the place experiencing two worlds at once.
I don't get it at all and I preferred the original....😩😩 Why do they have to complicate an already complicated story....I want my final fantasy...if I wanted extremely complex stuff, I would go and watch 'dark', they are just ruining final fantasy...

It looks like the real thing Cloud has is the empty materia from future Aerith, then it turns black maybe because of Sephiroth influence in his mind.
Cloud's went cuckoo and no one in the team had the sense of slapping him to get him back to his senses, like damn they just stood there and let him do whatever he wants 😂

Have you seen the whole game? Aerith didn't die. When Cloud starts to deflects masamune the world is dublicated. It's the same effect like Remake's ending when the Terrier timeline was destroyed. That means Cloud's actions from there were different. That created a timeline where she died and one where she lived. And somehow Cloud is glitching between timelines that's why he can't understand if she's dead or not because she is and she isn't haha.

This re-opened an old wound that I thought would heal, but such was fate, only we naively expected a good ending, but from the original Final Fantasy 7 we felt the initial pain when she died, but this should not be a sad ending, I think they are that's what the creators of the game wanted. The end sometimes means a new beginning, who knows, maybe in 10 years we'll get a happy ending, who knows, only fate can say. But for you, my dear Shirrako, I have nothing but praise for your efforts. Finish the game, which is estimated to last 40+ hours within a few days i am really grateful.

I've noticed that, in terms of the game dungeon map, the Forgotten City in the Rebirth version is shorter than the FF7 (1997) version. It seems like many paths to reach the Forgotten City weren't shown or created by square enix.
More like a cliffhanger because all they show for the ending is the sun is shining but however, Sephiroth is still not beaten. Even in the ending, they are still chasing Sephiroth. That would mean that the only way for them to make it look like a happy ending is seeing a beautiful sunshining garden with a Bronco being repaired.
@@hp2546 let's hope so. Cos rebirth ending they took off with the plane at a plane field. Nothing related to snow or forbidden forest in FF7 (1997) to confirm or continue their journey towards the next snow town.
Well that was incredible. Completely lost it at the end, with the key art throwback. Manly tears.

Then, she become a Lifestream ghost.
This "scene" really sucks, Sephiroth laughs like cartoon villain, Barret rages, Aerith says that it's ok, there are constant flashes and music turns to very tense. It ruins the impact that original made on you.
In original the action dies down, the moment becomes still, music is subtle and nostalgic which perfectly sets the mood. And of course there is this stark contrast between Sephiroth who acts nonchalantly, as he is focused on his "grand plan" and Cloud who embraces his human side in that moment.
Cloud: "My fingers are trembling... My mouth is dry... My eyes are burning!"
Sepiroth: "What are you trying to say - that you have feelings!?"
Cloud: "Of course I do!"
This scene isn't supposed to bring us closure, it is supposed to be sad and appear like it all has been for nothing. It was also a very good depicition of loss, which Cloud (and by extension a player) was carrying for the rest of the game.
i think they are saving those stuff for Part 3. either it's going to be the opening, or when Cloud remembers everything.
Yep, Sephiroth is just all around lamer in every way than he was in the OG.
they fumbled every key point of the story and they changed stuff to just make it worse than the original. I don't get why they did that. Like, people say all the time, a true faithful FF7 remake would be "boring", but I hard disagree. All the og needed, was some fixes to continuity, exactly like they did with gongaga. Incorporating Cissnei was PERFECT and then they continued to drop ball after ball. Just imagine how amazing the og story with those graphics and combat would have been. Now, it's like this bittersweet thing, a completely fumbled story with nice graphics and gameplay.

Sephiroth laughs with "Hahahaha" many times in the original game. Compilation and Remake actually toned it all down. He loved to maniacally laugh. FFVII was a silly game, get over that.

What the hell is going on in that Cloud-Seph tour of the Cosmos? What does he mean that “Cloud just needs a little push”? And what is Sephiroth’s blessing?! What exactly does he want Cloud to understand?!
In the OG he was just primed to hand over the Black Materia.
In this one he's more mentally addled, caught between literal alternate worlds, and already compromised enough to take in some unknown Black Materia into his weaponry.
It also seems that the more one is exposed to the greater reality of the multiple worlds (from touching a Whisper, to constantly traveling between worlds), the more power one gains over it all. Sephiroth wants Cloud to ascend, when its time, and when he's ready to. Presumably without breaking the timeline of events too much, just enough to give him his upper hand.
We don't know the exact motivation Sephiroth has for selecting Cloud.
The push MIGHT be something like keeping Cloud from even accepting Tifa's truth about Zack and Cloud, and he goes fully against everyone.
At least Aerith’s fans got what they wanted for a few seconds…till the screen decided to glitch out, making her die
OK, I saw the entire walkthrough and... WOW! What a game and what a player!
Still... basically Aerith died (it's clear if by Sephiroth or accidentally by Cloud WHILE trying to stop Sephiroth) but she became like Obi-Wan because, even if her body is dead, her spirit is more strong now than before.
And... after a giant and multi-dimensional battle, Zack is basically waiting into a world where it's just him and the church while Cloud is "seeing" Aerith around him while only Nanaki seems able to feel her. While the rest of the group is down because she died.
And the EX Soldier has now a White Materia to fill and a Black Materia fused with his sword. All of this withOUT feeling depressed because he doesn't think that killed the half-Cetra.
What a twist!
And, at this point, we'll have to wait for the final act...
Let's see how things will end after this GREAT CHANGE from the original game.

So the other timeline with Zack, fighting fates in Remake, all of it was pointless. Why would Sephiroth want to kill Aerith again, he knows that its her death that led to his downfall in the OG timeline right? I was hoping he'd let Aerith live up until Part 3, where she'd eventually have to sacrifice herself on her own to save the planet. This feels cheap, it seems like they chickened out and didn't want to piss off the purists but missed out on so much potential... either tell the story as it was (remake), or tell a completely new story (reimagining), by trying to do both, it just comes off disingenuous, like all the new changes (like the fates and the other timeline) were ultimately, completely pointless and unnecessary.
Her death isn’t what led to his downfall. Cloud regaining his true self is. Remember, if Cloud hadn’t defeated Sephiroth, Holy would’ve continued to be trapped and Aerith couldn’t have used the Lifestream to stop Meteor.
Yes.@jack87 He wants Cloud powerful enough to use, but ignorant enough to be a puppet. As opposed to FFVII where he purely saw him as a puppet, and didn't care about the strength or cosmic awareness etc.
And when Cloud is corrupted enough, it won't matter what he knows when he ascends, he'll be another part of Jenova consciousness at that point anyway. Just as what happened to Sephiroth.
They didn't chicken out. They just created another timeline where Cloud deflects Sephiroth and she survives. And Sephiroth somehow wanted Cloud to see this glitching. Also Zack's timeline wasn't pointless because for all we know we will see the new timeline where Aerith lives in part 3 and the one Zack lands at the ending scene in the Church is that one.
@@punkpop101 you... you didn't understand it at all. This isn't another timeline dummy, Cloud's mind is altering his perception of reality. Like how he thought he was Zack. He thinks he saved Aerith. He's speaking to her ghost, she died but he thinks she's still alive. The glitch effect isn't when another timeline is shown, it's when Cloud's mind alters his perception of reality. Dude's mind is broken. This could've been a cool reveal in the 3rd game if they wouldn't show as at all that she died in this game, only to reveal the truth to the audience alongside Cloud. But THEY CHICKENED OUT. Out of fear not to tick off the purists, they tried to have their cake and eat it too, to have everyone satisfied, yet none is. The "unknown journey" continues my @ss, the absolutely known journey perhaps.
At this point I never expected to understand this remake. It happened the same with part 1. Aerith is death (differently, got it) and through the lifestream communicate with Cloud. That is the one thing I think is clear. But, is she alive in the other timeline? (I mean, she is, but I have the feeling that in part 3 they may bring her to life through that body). I see this like the GameShark I used many times to revive her to have her in my party after her death. On the other hand, Cloud is still under Sepiroth's influence and this is the element that confuses me; sometimes I don’t know what is real and what isn't. Plus---at this point I don’t get the adding of another timeline...(well, confusion and more confusion).
The tagline for this game is "What is fact and what is fiction". Most of the truth is embedded in this game but they keep wanting people to discuss for years until its confirmed.
The game started with false or confusing realities, it ended on that too.
They know they have a captive audience that will buy the third game anyway, so they can answer then. Its a middle act.

He did just in an alternate timeline. That's why it has the rainbow effect. We created two timelines from the diflection one where she lives and one where she dies. What we see in the grass with the plane leaving is probably the spirit of Aerith from the beagle timeline who has died. At the same time we see in the Cloud multiverse explanation scene a timeline that looks like this that has Tifa and Aerith walking together. So far all we know Sephiroth knows there are worlds were Aerith survived.

He didn't in one timeline and did in the other. Also the Aerith that fights at the edge of Creation is most certainly the survives one because she has the rainbow effects all over her. When we have a deviation from the OG in this game we see the rainbow effects one way or another.

What if, Aerith and Sephiroth are both like Byakuran from Hitman Reborn.
They can now both tap in their parallel selves, and can influence what happen to any of each parallel realities.
Hope in the end, why they are going with this convoluted parallel world plot line is so that you can change and choose the ending for these characters.
Or they can do it in a newgame+ where everybody lives happily, like in Type-0 it ain't canon though.
Also Zack and Cloud team up is way too short, they need on longer canon screen time together. haha.

The changes to the story make this the most nonsensical plot I have ever experienced...
It never made sense since the OG game. The ending is almost like the one in FF7 in this particular portion, but Zack having a bigger role(and possibly still does)

judging from the glitching effect maybe the timeline is merging or overlapping each other. remake timeline Cloud parried Sephiroth but OG timeline overlapped remake timeline causes Aerith to die like how it should be in OG.

Nothing sets these things in other than the Whispers, and the will of the planet. It can be changed. But there are consequences. It appears some world split off where she was saved. That's nice, but its also a problem.

Ok....This going to sound a little copium but please.....I hope they'll make the team can interact with "spirit Aerith" and help each other defeat Sephiroth. More important, to let whole team can say goodbye to Aerith properly because after that ending cutscene, I feel like Tifa needs some comfort words from Aerith herself
Please correct me if I'm wrong, it was Jenova who the Cetra and the Man joined together to defeat right? The enemy that came from the stars?
Jenova isn't a cetra. She is the alien that can change her appearance. Cetra defeated her but it was too late for their civilization.
I can finally confirm Clerith is canon because of rebirth. In the church scene where (dream or future or alternative) Aerith said he likes Cloud. Then, in the scene with Marlene, Zack ask the question whether Aerith likes Cloud and Marlene said yes, because he isn't there. Zack accepted and decided to save Cloud in his world. When Cloud was in Sephiroth's control, Aerith was being attacked and it reminded Cloud of how they met and he came back to his senses. So please say goodbye to theories that Aerith only likes Cloud because she reminds her of Zack.
Rebirth's hinting Aerith or everyone dead might come back once the worlds reunite/reunion. There are only two options once reunion happen either world is destroyed (Sephiroth's plan) or will be saved

Unless they say: "in the other timeline she's still alive and they live happily ever after."
That way they could make more FF7 sequels or prequels and milk it even more.
But to be honest, if Aerith dies or lives they will milk it anyways. They're probably planning on making the card game into an actual trading card game.

Qu'elle honte de proposer ce jeu en 2024... Recommandé à 100% sur Opencritic... Alors qu'Avatar / Banishers & Pacific Drive mériteraient mieux... Le jeu fait aussi bien que Baldur's Gate 3, j'ai envie de casser mon crâne...
L'open world est aussi nul que celui de Forspoken et je parle même pas des quêtes... Les combats perdent en dynamisme à cause de la pause tactique, certaines scènes se passent de commentaires, entre une qui fait la gogole en se tappant la tête et des "hmm", "hmm"... Les minis jeux de l'open world, tous plus nul les uns que les autres, enfin je veux dire, absolument pas intéressant... On se croirait dans une cours de récréation...
Enfin vraiment, n'y aurait il pas un manque d'objectivité de la part de la presse autour de ce jeu ? C'est la même recette que FF16, c'est un jeu moyen qui mériterait uniquement entre 10 et 12 sur 20...

So many bad decisions. Giving Red 13 a new voice sucks and makes no sense. I prefered the wise and smart version. The Ancient City was so much more interesting in the original. Where is the mysterious music when you first enter and explore it? They use the Ancient City just for a long boss and for letting float around the boring whispers no one needs. The original was so much better in every aspect. What a disappointment. Square has completely lost its spirit. I keep on playing the original.
Red XIII was never that wise and smart. They do a trick in this version of the game with Aerith seemingly bestowing a greater awareness to him, but he was always a kid who put on an act. Including the original game.
We return to the Forgotten City anyway. It can be a dungeon at that point. They just don't want to double up most dungeon locations in the trilogy.
