I think one of the bigger issues of the stage/set is the lighting - it feels like they only have strong static lights and no mobile spotlights so the girls literally disappear if they go too far into the wings. But agree that rotating element feels like a lot of fun.
Thank you for giving Drag Den its deserved attention. The way you guys are exposing a locally produced drag reality tv show in the US is a huge thing given huge rivals like Dragula and Drag Race. Also I like how there's this whole storyline thing that we're having with the Den. I'd be gagged if by the end of season 2 the authorities discover them again and they have to move to a different Den (with different theme and aesthetic).
Deja’s themewear terno is made of traditional woven fabric from Cordillera, where Baguio City, her drag hometown is located. That fabric pattern is very recognizable for Filipinos as belonging from that region, hence Margaux’s comment that Deja represented where she came from well with this look. I like how the fabric was used in her modern streetwear look, very similar to how Alexander McQueen used tartan in his designs, or how Vivienne Westwood uses loud patterns on her streetwear. The styling is also very Vivienne Westwood.
Thank you so so much for watching our video, we are loving covering Drag Den! We definitely figured that the tears were real, especially with how much competitive drag Manila has done. Send her our love & admiration! We are loving this show!
Manila initially said yes to Drag Den because of the non-elimination format... The director said they had to have back and forth with her because most of the audience wanted an elimination format for this season... The director also said the walk between Maria and Manila wasn't on the script. Manila crying was also non scripted and the director asked the cameraman to quickly film Manila. Although it felt too corny for me lol
S2 is already so much better than the first season. I also did not understand why they were going so hard for Jean, and they didn't really give enough context.
I hope we get more context for that moving forward, bc it seems like there's a lot going on behind the scenes and they're only showing us the fighting to make good TV.
'Thoning your Drag Den discussions (was today years old when I found out you were doing these, thank you!) You're bound to see more basketball jerseys this season because the Philippines is basketball crazy. Unless you live in upper class enclaves, many residential streets have basketball hoops (not even a proper court!). Like karaoke, it's a national past time.
Yay! Just finished watching your reaction to ep1 of Drag Den: Retribution. Your reaction was so lit, as always. Thanks Logan and Lana, y'all lovely people. Logan, same. Get some good rest to re-energize. For the elimination, the director, Rod Singh, actually discussed in an interview why they decided to do it. Apparently, Manila was so against it but ultimately they said they had to listen to the viewers who wanted to raise the stakes. Also logistically, it makes sense to have an elimination. Lana, the Sassa Girl exclusion is unjust hahahhahaha a montage of Sassa Girl yesssss lol I agree with you, Logan, about the stage. The revolving door is really a great addition to the set. I think the reason why the stage, and the den in general, looks more open in S1 is because it's more brightly lit. The S2 stage is dark in certain areas, that's probably why it feels more close, which kinda make sense with the psychedelic Manila's street by night theme this season. Personally, I like the season 1 stage more. It's well-lit. Shit I love your discussion about Moi's street wear terno look. You perfectly encapsulated my thoughts when I saw her look mygod Russia Fox might win this season given that NAIA also wore a Jersey on the first episode of Season 1 lol I also thought that the Jean Vilogue thing came out of nowhere. However, when I rewatched the episode, I noticed that there were actually edits foreshadowing/alluding to the said issue as early as Elvira's entrance. It's super subtle though, it was really easy to miss at first watch. What do you think about the bagmen??? I really like how they're just standing there like the eye candy that they are lol. I especially appreciate how they were assisting the queens in preparing for their outfits and stuff, zipping their dresses and holding their drinks and massaging them ugh me tooooo Lol super kudos to Lana for pressing that dragdagulan na button whenever Logan was inching towards saying it hahaha. Lana should be a dj lol Hahahahahhahahahaha yes Maria Lava why are you hiding in the lipsync????? Lol I thought Manila walking the eliminated queen out was super sweet and genuine. The director of the show, Rod Singh, said on X that the actual selling point for Manila accepting the hosting gig on season 1 was the non-elimination format. Imagine how she felt with this new format. Rod Singh also said that what Manila said during the walk was unscripted and Manila's cry was actually off cam, she (Singh) just pulled the cameraman to quickly film Manila. Overall this was a great premiere episode! I saw it two times and I just appreciated the brilliance of the edit on the second watch. During the musikalye, the lyrics and especially the edits of the lyrics are givingggg. Also living for the effects during the lipsync, it was so dumb but it worked so well for me. Funfact: next week's guest judge is Eva Le Queen's snatch game character, Ruffa Mae Quinto. This should be fun
My kneejerk reaction is that I don't like the new rules and format...but I'm trying to give it a chance. And I hope that maybe they have something else for the eliminated girls as the show progresses.
I guess it was really a hard decision to make. Some (including myself) loved the non elimination format but A LOT were also asking for eliminations so yeah. The team were known to listen to their audiences. But I hope they can meet in the middle in the future seasons or episodes maybe. This maybe also the reason why they added more drag artists this season.
wait we’re not dissecting the verses of the main challenge? Because we’ve some of the strongest verses in a girl group especially after the Boogsh disappointment
@@makkunTVyeah but as far as I know they gave a part on writing to make it more unique to them & to add more flavor. It was also mentioned that it was written by Kumare Harvey & Silas. S1 queens didn’t wrote their own songs as well since it was not a requirement for the show. But for me I like this since it’s not all over the place but to each their own.

Absolutely. Sure it's a den, but we should have good lighting.

Of course! We absolutely love Filipina drag and we're thrilled we're covering it!
I hope they change set formats every season!

Oh how fabulous!
Drag Den Season 2 is awesome! Thx for quenching my thirst!
That's what we're here to do darling! Very happy you're enjoying!
FUNFACT Marlyn / Heartburns sang the chorus
Love that!
That "Dragdagulan na!" soundbite is such a gem lmaoooo
Isn't it so so good!
Maria Lava is the drag daughter of Nicole Pardaux, also the first out in Drag Race PH 😭
Noooooo, not the Cebu curse!
Love this! Thanks for chatting about the coolest drag show ever!
Btw, as Manilas hubby…I can say that Manila’s tears were 100% authentic
Thank you so so much for watching our video, we are loving covering Drag Den! We definitely figured that the tears were real, especially with how much competitive drag Manila has done. Send her our love & admiration! We are loving this show!
Lana lolling about Maria Lava hiding behind the stage... i cannot! T_T hahahaha
It was hilarious 😂😂😂 Stop hiding girl!!

Damn, the filming of that moment of Manila crying might have been corny but the emotion felt very real.

Oh shit it's here. Commenting before watching yes

Thank you for the support, lovely! We really appreciate it! And yes, Logan has gotten sleep since then. 😂😂
that is so true with Moi's look.
My kneejerk reaction is that I don't like the new rules and format...but I'm trying to give it a chance. And I hope that maybe they have something else for the eliminated girls as the show progresses.
That's what we're hoping for too.
I'm also pretty sure them saying Elvira had the lowest score was just to gag the queens.
Oh probably, it wouldn't surprise if she did have the lowest, just bc of her looks and performance, but it was probably for the gag.
I guess it was really a hard decision to make. Some (including myself) loved the non elimination format but A LOT were also asking for eliminations so yeah. Definitely seems like all of that.
wait we’re not dissecting the verses of the main challenge? Because we’ve some of the strongest verses in a girl group especially after the Boogsh disappointment
they didnt write it, sadly... their verses was assigned to them and somebody else wrote it
And that's why we didn't discuss them...
@@codeinesnaps OHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Was it mentioned they didn’t write them? Because I fully thought they wrote their verses. That sucks then

Hi! It's me, Regilina! 🎉 from here what I see it's 2 beauties that's right ❤
It is! Thank you darling!
Logan, please take care of yourself dear... Make sure to get some sleep
