  • This is part 5 of my continuing saga of trying to make a working model of a twin cylinder diagonal paddle steamer type engine from a set of unmachined castings.

    Thanks Ed, I'm sure it took a considerable amount of time and effort to make this video but its very much apprecieated. Fantastic progress. Really looking forward to the next episode!

      Thanks Dave. Today has been a disaster and work on the valve gear today is scrap. Such is (my) life. It will come right in the end.

    Lovely work again Ed. Thanks for videoing this for us normal mortals to watch. I was going to suggest your ‘knock’ was the arm of the pump eccentric, but you got there before I got to the comments! I think this is going to look superb when it’s done and in motion. Les

    Very nice. You of course were just running that faster than you will ever run it in a boat, can you see the paddles turning that fast.

      Thanks I will return to the issue of speed of rotation of the paddles in the next (last) vid. Should be posted shortly, maybe even today (13/7/23) if I get my finger out!

    Once again we have a much anticipated Paddle Engine update from Mr Ed 'Sad sack' White which to a mere mortal such as I is not only entertainig but very informative as well. Keep up the good work dear friend as well as the grumbling.
