2go had a ferry from Manila to Romblon I took 8 years ago when I was solo backpacking. I remember only booking an ac room and read somewhere that you can approach the reception as soon as you board and get listed for a cabin upgrade for a minimal fee of 1000 pesos! It was heaven! Especially it can get rough en route to Romblon so I had my own toilet to puke because I was so sea sick!
