I just love it when Christians tear each other apart. It's becomes more and more apparent to me that very few Christians know very little about their religion and especially their scriptures. They go to church, drink the blood of their god and chomp down on a morsel of his flesh, and they think they are saved from something! Look at how we already create false lines of acceptance. All of the inside versus outside of church words, actions, thoughts. We are afraid to even be honest with ourselves. Basically I agree with the heart of Lordship (though I think there is strong support for Free Grace). We have to be honest though and admit that it begs for a line to be draw in the sand. Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. I have read all these comments, which is great because I am teaching this topic this Sunday. it is clear to me that we are saved by faith. and it is our faith that compels us to perform good works, or living acts. consequently, if we are not working out our salvation, more than likely we were never saved to begin with.

Belief will save us, but few know what it means to believe. The word is translated from the greek word "pisteuo" meaning to trust in, commit to, entrust life with. So salvation requires us to put our life in God's hands, willing to let Him and His ways direct our steps. That's to only way we can become that new creation. It's a change of direction in life of no longer serving our selves but God. And that is also what baptism signifies, a dying to our flesh and being renewed to walking in the Spirit.

My view of being born again: I am in favor of it, & we should all do it as the Bible teaches us to do so. & yes, a new man is being added to us; His name is Jesus Christ. He is added to our hearts. He begins to transform our nature w/in us. We retain our human wills. It continues to be constrained by the conditioning, memories it has developed in life. We are given the means of resisting our sinful tendencies, we learn to submit to this new will operating in us. These short spaces aren't enough.

It only contradicts if you see the first half of the video as Paul telling us to be better Christians. That's not what Paul's saying at all, he's saying that the mark of someone who is changed by God's Grace is that we'll begin to live like God- not because of our efforts, but because of God. If we don't see fruit in our lives, it's evidence that maybe we haven't received God's Grace. This is not a command to do better. It's the beautiful news that its not ultimately up to us. Its up to God :)
@GreenCures -- Exactly! Our sins have NOT been imputed, we HAVE been forgiven, and we have been declared righteous in Jesus. The question remains: when is one declared righteous: BEFORE one is cleansed, or AFTER our sins are remitted and by receiving "...the gift of the Holy Ghost..."?
"The believer will never continue in sin that grace may abound." That sounds like saying someone is sinless. God does not destroy our human nature. The new man does not kill the old man.

If they are sitting under the same preachers that they "get saved" under and never learn holiness, then it is unlikely that the "gospel" that they accepted was true. Jesus said, “He that believes AND is baptized SHALL BE SAVED.” Who are they who believe unto salvation, but those who are ALSO baptized? “…buried with him by baptism unto death…”.
@GreenCures -- Jesus did indeed bear our sins on the cross . However, righteousness was NOT imputed there: mercy was imputed when Jesus cried, "Father forgive them...". Righteousness is imputed when our sins are REMITTED, and we receive "...the gift of the Holy Ghost...". Or will God receive a child and NOT cleanse him; or can one be a child of God and REFUSE to be cleansed?
@GreenCures -- (2) The words of Jesus, Mk. 16:16; Peter, Acts 2:38-39; and Paul, I Cor. 15:1-4, agree together and with the words of the prophets. They portray the very Gospel. Too many preachers are preaching a partial Gospel…and leading many astray. How? No one can give what he doesn’t have!
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (Galatians 5:22-24). Paul Washer's Calvinist/Gnostic teaching of being a partially new creature/sin being committed in the flesh only does not line up with Galatians 5:24. Could it be that most do not cease from sin because they are not Christ's own? Let God be true!

That is the promise of God, just most people do not care to obey it and receive the promise! 1 John 1:10 deals with the Calvinist/Gnostic idea that their sins are not really sins, but just something their flesh does (as if their will is enslaved to their body???). They make God a liar and the truth is not in them when they claim that their sins are not really sin. The flesh is not the problem, an evil and unregenerated heart is the problem.
@GreenCures -- You are quite correct regarding bad theology. Jesus said to establish every word by the mouth of two witnesses or three. My witnesses are found within the scriptures: they are the Apostle Peter, and the Apostle Paul, and their testimony agrees with the Lord Jesus.
@ThePhnxman1 Salvation is an ongoing experience that starts at regeneration or being born again and moves on from there. There is justification, sanctification, and glorification. You are justified by being forgiven of your sins. You are becoming sanctified throughout your life until you die and become glorified. There is never a part on the timeline though when you have totally conquered sin. I believe Paul speaks of his inability to stop sinning.
There is always this powerful exception which must be kept in the sin/justification discussion. I need you to take every word, and in the same power and loudness and lay it out , so Paul, with all certainty on how bad a Christian is allowed to get please ADDRESS David, in the line of the future Messiah, a common man whose run of sin and the "particulars" , a full 10 on the drama/murder/sexual/betrayal line of "sins, "right in the face of Uriah his best man- did he know that she lliked it as he staid his post? How utterly painful were his emotions. David who, being a believer in the coming Messiah nevertheless took a year before the messenger spelled out the utter wrongness as he was in such denial, he wasn't getting it. So, does God give us this tale as one where we can take in detail to our Christian friend who also has gone simply out of control. Would you cut him off Paul? I know no one that surpassed David. But TULIP still stands, and the Perseverance of God will stay valid. . In his brilliance Luther had the nerve to put David's self destruction on his adoring public who kept taking David Higher and higher until the bell rang and God, who will share no one his glory brought David down. So put that in you pipe and learn from the real brains behind the insights to the reformation. So when you lay down your rules on how bad it can get, God says really really bad. I recently have bagged all this holiness talk and am back in the letter T, as God told us how bad it is going to get but we don't believe him. So look for the surprises when someone actually uses valor. It may that "good works" is what is now gone-namely integrity".
From that point david did repent, but also his life was never the same, as his life took a downward spiral till his death...so yes, he repented, never turn back to a life of sin, but his sin, had destroyed his entire life from there on, anything else?

Regardless, we are closer than most.
how to be saved? If you do not know if you truly belong to Christ I would suggest going to the source. cry out to God---Everyday and night and dont stop until you know. It might take months, weeks, years, or days but: He will let you know! This would be a good place to start.

True, and James 2 shows us that when we are truly saved by faith, our faith will be a faith that is moved through love, and the love is our actions and deeds towards others. Not to say that our action will save us, no, but rather our good works is a result of our faith in Christ and a result of us being saved.

He is. He is so powerfully compelled by the Spirit of God that if you yourself aren't frequently convicted by his preaching, carefully examine your heart and see if you truly love God. Do you actually get excited to read Scripture or do you have to force yourself to read it because you believe that you will enter heaven because you read it? Do you look at the sky and the trees and the ocean and get excited in your heart because you know it was Jesus Christ Himself who created these things for you to see Him through? Do you have an affection for God like you do your wife? If you cannot say resoundingly "yes", then repent and trust Christ as Lord and Savior, because it is an indicator although you mentally may know the bible, God's word is not in your heart. It will change you from the inside out. God will automatically lead you to become more holy because you will want to be holy from the new desires.
--The "born again" experience is indispensable to salvation, but IT IS NOT salvation, itself. It gives man an opportunity to "see" (John 3:3) and CHOOSE, but there is an "entering into the kingdom of God": "...except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdon of God." John. 3:5. There are many who have repented and have "seen" (perceived, understood) God's kingdom, but loved the things of the world more than God: hence, unable to "enter in".

I am unsure where I stand on this Lordship vs Free Grace. I would agree that there must be a true desire for God in every believer's heart, but I am afraid that through Lordship theology we will create our own false line of just how good you have to act to be considered saved. One of the biggest challenges that faces the church today is pornography and sinful sex. I fear that this false line of good works will keep everyone hiding as they are now pretending that they don't struggle...
Im not sure either. Lordship supporters say if you sin or abandon God you were never saved, but the beginning of revelation is letters to 7 churches and they were christians. Jesus tells them they "left their first love", commited adultery etc. and tells them to remember where they came from and repent. They were saved yet they still did those things. I think where we draw the line is here: a true beleiver can disobey God and lose his first love for him, but through the conviction of the holy spirit they will always return and overcome. Take king david for example. He was a man after Gods own heart yet commited adultery, murder, and more. However because he was saved the spirit convicted him and he repented. I dont have all the answers but im just throwing this out there. Thoughts?

I think you are misunderstanding something. It's grace and the works of the Holy Spirit. James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. - God's grace is many things. The grace of God is also the corrective power of the Holy Spirit to keep us on the narrow path that Jesus said we must walk. The "works" is God working through us. It's His works if we are truly yielding and obeying God. So it's the "works" of the Holy Spirit.
So I was born Catholic I guess, and I really do not know the difference between a Catholic and a christain or any other forms that believe in jesus. My question for you (paul washer i guess) is, do you think all those other religions are damned to "your" hell for not believing what you do? Do jews go to hell just because they decided some other guy was the shizznazz? Do muslims go to hell because they decided this other way of life (which in the end is the same) is better? @GreenCures -- (1) Like repentance and receiving the Holy Spirit, BAPTISM is part & parcel of the Gospel that saves. Jesus did not just die, but he was also BURIED and rose from the dead, according to scripture. One cannot truly believe (repent), and deny that the Lord Jesus was buried: nor believe that the Lord Jesus was indeed buried, but deny the resurrection.

I believe this is what Washer is speaking on.
I just love it when Christians tear each other apart. It's becomes more and more apparent to me that very few Christians know very little about their religion and especially their scriptures. They go to church, drink the blood of their god and chomp down on a morsel of his flesh, and they think they are saved from something! I'm grateful to know I am saved from their damaging ways and beliefs! Christians, if you really want to know more about your scripture, ask an Atheist!

Look at how we already create false lines of acceptance. All of the inside versus outside of church words, actions, thoughts. We are afraid to even be honest with ourselves. Basically I agree with the heart of Lordship (though I think there is strong support for Free Grace). We have to be honest though and admit that it begs for a line to be draw in the sand. Church, PLEASE read the whole New Testament really carefully before saying thing like, "I guarantee you, if you agree with Paul Washer than you don't believe your eternally saved and that your depending on your works to earn your salvation..". James ch. 2, verses 14 and on says;
...14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.

I do depend on Christ and my faith in Him!!! But that doesn't mean I have to pick and choose which verses in the Bible I like and which ones I don't. Don't cut certain words out of the contest, and claim it to be the ONLY truth. See the whole picture, not just a part of it! May God bless you!!!
I have read all these comments, which is great because I am teaching this topic this Sunday. it is clear to me that we are saved by faith. and it is our faith that compels us to perform good works, or living acts. consequently, if we are not working out our salvation, more than likely we were never saved to begin with.

Belief will save us, but few know what it means to believe. The word is translated from the greek word "pisteuo" meaning to trust in, commit to, entrust life with. So salvation requires us to put our life in God's hands, willing to let Him and His ways direct our steps. That's to only way we can become that new creation. It's a change of direction in life of no longer serving our selves but God. And that is also what baptism signifies, a dying to our flesh and being renewed to walking in the Spirit.

My view of being born again: I am in favor of it, & we should all do it as the Bible teaches us to do so. & yes, a new man is being added to us; His name is Jesus Christ. He is added to our hearts. He begins to transform our nature w/in us. We retain our human wills. It continues to be constrained by the conditioning, memories it has developed in life. We are given the means of resisting our sinful tendencies, we learn to submit to this new will operating in us. These short spaces aren't enough.

It only contradicts if you see the first half of the video as Paul telling us to be better Christians. That's not what Paul's saying at all, he's saying that the mark of someone who is changed by God's Grace is that we'll begin to live like God- not because of our efforts, but because of God. If we don't see fruit in our lives, it's evidence that maybe we haven't received God's Grace. This is not a command to do better. It's the beautiful news that its not ultimately up to us. Its up to God :)

@GreenCures -- Exactly! Our sins have NOT been imputed, we HAVE been forgiven, and we have been declared righteous in Jesus. The question remains: when is one declared righteous: BEFORE one is cleansed, or AFTER our sins are remitted and by receiving "...the gift of the Holy Ghost..."?
"The believer will never continue in sin that grace may abound." That sounds like saying someone is sinless. God does not destroy our human nature. The new man does not kill the old man.

If they are sitting under the same preachers that they "get saved" under and never learn holiness, then it is unlikely that the "gospel" that they accepted was true. Jesus taught repentance and faith, but most preachers today teach faith minus true repentance. God bless you.

@GreenCures -- (2) The words of Jesus, Mk. 16:16; Peter, Acts 2:38-39; and Paul, I Cor. 15:1-4, agree together and with the words of the prophets. They portray the very Gospel. Too many preachers are preaching a partial Gospel…and leading many astray. How? No one can give what he doesn’t have!
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (Galatians 5:22-24).
Paul Washer's Calvinist/Gnostic teaching of being a partially new creature/sin being committed in the flesh only does not line up with Galatians 5:24. Could it be that most do not cease from sin because they are not Christ's own? Let God be true!

That is the promise of God, just most people do not care to obey it and receive the promise! 1 John 1:10 deals with the Calvinist/Gnostic idea that their sins are not really sins, but just something their flesh does (as if their will is enslaved to their body???). They make God a liar and the truth is not in them when they claim that their sins are not really sin. The flesh is not the problem, an evil and unregenerated heart is the problem.
@GreenCures -- You are quite correct regarding bad theology. Jesus said to establish every word by the mouth of two witnesses or three. My witnesses are found within the scriptures: they are the Apostle Peter, and the Apostle Paul, and their testimony agrees with the Lord Jesus.
@ThePhnxman1 Salvation is an ongoing experience that starts at regeneration or being born again and moves on from there. There is justification, sanctification, and glorification. You are justified by being forgiven of your sins. You are becoming sanctified throughout your life until you die and become glorified. There is never a part on the timeline though when you have totally conquered sin. I believe Paul speaks of his inability to stop sinning.

There is always this powerful exception which must be kept in the sin/justification discussion. I need you to take every word, and in the same power and loudness and lay it out , so Paul, with all certainty on how bad a Christian is allowed to get please ADDRESS David, in the line of the future Messiah, a common man whose run of sin and the "particulars" , a full 10 on the drama/murder/sexual/betrayal line of "sins, "right in the face of Uriah his best man- did he know that she lliked it as he staid his post? How utterly painful were his emotions. David who, being a believer in the coming Messiah nevertheless took a year before the messenger spelled out the utter wrongness as he was in such denial, he wasn't getting it. So, does God give us this tale as one where we can take in detail to our Christian friend who also has gone simply out of control. Would you cut him off Paul? I know no one that surpassed David. Jesus said, "He that believes AND is baptised..."; Peter said, "Repent...be baptized...you SHALL receive the gift of the Holy Ghost..."; Paul declared that the Gospel is the death (repentance), burial (baptism). and resurrection (Holy Spirit IN the believer) of Jesus Christ. Regardless, we are closer than most.

True, and James 2 shows us that when we are truly saved by faith, our faith will be a faith that is moved through love, and the love is our actions and deeds towards others. Not to say that our action will save us, no, but rather our good works is a result of our faith in Christ and a result of us being saved.

@rolitoss1 I agree with you that salvation is being transformed into a new creation. And if that has happened, then life change will be the result. That is my point, but what I am saying is that for a person who is struggling with doubts of salvation, do not look at the supposed experience, look at the results of it. If your life has been changed, then it was probably authentic. I think we are being Paul and James here. Two sides of one coin.

What saves us is grace: which is having our sins REMITTED and receiving the Holy Spirit.
@ksartin86 -- Justified IS having one's sins remitted: but forgiveness was at the cross: "...Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." Forgivesness of sins shows mercy, which withholds the judgment of death; remission of sins leads to grace, which is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

He is. He is so powerfully compelled by the Spirit of God that if you yourself aren't frequently convicted by his preaching, carefully examine your heart and see if you truly love God. Do you actually get excited to read Scripture or do you have to force yourself to read it because you believe that you will enter heaven because you read it? Do you look at the sky and the trees and the ocean and get excited in your heart because you know it was Jesus Christ Himself who created these things for you to see Him through? Do you have an affection for God like you do your wife? If you cannot say resoundingly "yes", then repent and trust Christ as Lord and Savior, because it is an indicator although you mentally may know the bible, God's word is not in your heart. It will change you from the inside out. God will automatically lead you to become more holy because you will want to be holy from the new desires.
--The "born again" experience is indispensable to salvation, but IT IS NOT salvation, itself. It gives man an opportunity to "see" (John 3:3) and CHOOSE, but there is an "entering into the kingdom of God": "...except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdon of God." John. 3:5.
There are many who have repented and have "seen" (perceived, understood) God's kingdom, but loved the things of the world more than God: hence, unable to "enter in".

I am unsure where I stand on this Lordship vs Free Grace. I would agree that there must be a true desire for God in every believer's heart, but I am afraid that through Lordship theology we will create our own false line of just how good you have to act to be considered saved. One of the biggest challenges that faces the church today is pornography and sinful sex. I fear that this false line of good works will keep everyone hiding as they are now pretending that they don't struggle...
Im not sure either. Lordship supporters say if you sin or abandon God you were never saved, but the beginning of revelation is letters to 7 churches and they were christians. Jesus tells them they "left their first love", commited adultery etc. and tells them to remember where they came from and repent. They were saved yet they still did those things. I think where we draw the line is here: a true beleiver can disobey God and lose his first love for him, but through the conviction of the holy spirit they will always return and overcome. Take king david for example. He was a man after Gods own heart yet commited adultery, murder, and more. However because he was saved the spirit convicted him and he repented. I dont have all the answers but im just throwing this out there. Thoughts?

I think you are misunderstanding something. It's grace and the works of the Holy Spirit. James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. - God's grace is many things. The grace of God is also the corrective power of the Holy Spirit to keep us on the narrow path that Jesus said we must walk. The "works" is God working through us. It's His works if we are truly yielding and obeying God. So it's the "works" of the Holy Spirit.
So I was born Catholic I guess, and I really do not know the difference between a Catholic and a christain or any other forms that believe in jesus. My question for you (paul washer i guess) is, do you think all those other religions are damned to "your" hell for not believing what you do? Do jews go to hell just because they decided some other guy was the shizznazz? Do muslims go to hell because they decided this other way of life (which in the end is the same) is better? Thats my question to u
@GreenCures -- (1) Like repentance and receiving the Holy Spirit, BAPTISM is part & parcel of the Gospel that saves. Jesus did not just die, but he was also BURIED and rose from the dead, according to scripture. One cannot truly believe (repent), and deny that the Lord Jesus was buried: nor believe that the Lord Jesus was indeed buried, but deny the resurrection.
You would be better off if you had just uploaded the audio without any image. Especially the supposed "Jesus' image" which the Bible is highly against it and calls for repentance (Acts 17:29-30).
