GWR | The regional IET, Taunton - Bristol TM

Hello!
Welcome to another trip in the great west! In this trip, we will be travelling on a ‘regional’ service between Taunton and Cardiff, as far as Bristol.
What was once the role of a DMU, became the role of the shortened HST Castle sets, has now become the role of an IET.
A train built for Intercity Express duties, has been covering regional duties between Penzance, Plymouth, Exeter, Taunton, Bristol and Cardiff.
They have also been found on stopping services between Bristol and Worcester, as well as their usual intercity workings.
We took a trip to see how the IETs handle regional services. There are some long gaps between stations, so the IETs were able to take advantage of the top speed on our trip, which was 110mph.
