  • On Sunday 7th May, I took part in Wild Deer Events Sherwood Pines Duathlons and Gravel Rides event. There were a number of different activities/ distances taking part at once, but as it was a small event, it never felt like you were battling for space, and the different activities used different routes through the forest.
It didn’t quite have the buzz of Glorious Gravel’s March event at Sherwood Forest, but was a great route and well organised event non the less. Link to the route below. The route is just one lap which I completed 4 times.
Parking was at the Sherwood Pines visitor centre with discounted parking for competitors. You can pay by cash or card. There are on site refreshments, toilets, and bike hire.

Nice one Deb 👍 I was there on my hardtail one evening last week. I only go there 2-3 times a year, but it never fails to hit the spot.

Great, isn’t it? I’ve lived in Notts all my 43 years and only just discovered it in the last 6 months or so! So glad I have as it’s a real gem👌🏻

nice one Deb, 60K off road is a top effort, well done - appreciate the honest reflections on the event, shame the vibe wasn't there for you, but you still did it so well done - I'm always overtaken by speedy cyclists and feel like I'm the last out on the course on these types of events - but hey, if you're not 'in it to win it' just try and enjoy the ride, say hello to everyone, feel good about completing it and have pizza and beer afterwards as a reward :) Down here there are a few New Forest gravel rides and rides across bits of the South Downs Way that could be good to try out

Thank you☺️ Yes, you’re right, just need to enjoy what I want from it and let the others crack on and do their thing.
I’ve been having a bit of a look at some of the events down there. The gravel looks really amazing. Would need to look at the cost of digs for a few days or so, but I’d really love to have a crack at it some time. ☺️
