Deb Lord Outdoors
Великобритания
Добавлен 28 июл 2014
Hi, I’m Deb and I started the channel to document some of my gravel rides. In December 2020, I expanded my content to include hiking and walking. Some of the hikes are with my sister Becca, and some are solo. I’m currently working full-time and also studying for a full-time for a degree, so uploading between September 2023-August 2025 may be more sporadic, but I enjoy getting outdoors for my physical and emotional wellbeing.
Aside from my outdoor pursuits, I am also a musician and can be found spending hours in my home studio creating songs and instrumentals. I have an Instagram page Monday_night_music_club where I post some bits and bobs of that.

Saddle pain for women - updated video
Просмотров 958Год назад
Several years ago I made a video about saddle pain experienced by people assigned female at birth- essentially, anyone with a vagina, labia, and clitoris. I was tired of trying to find info to help me resolve my own pain, only to be met with articles and videos full of euphemisms, which was no use to me for identifying whether I was experiencing what they were describing. Since making that vide...

Just a wander while I watch the sunset over East Stoke in Newark and Sherwood, the historic site of the Battle of Stoke field in 1487. Just a bit of a waffle on my part, so apologies if it’s a bit self-indulgent and you decide to sack it off, ha ha!

I debated whether or not to post this which I made on holiday about 3 weeks ago. Perhaps not high on the entertainment scale but part of vlogging is for my own enjoyment, making a diary of some of where I’ve been, how I’ve felt, and what I’ve seen. If you enjoy it too, that’s great. Starting point was The Waterfront Inn at West Stockwith. There are a number of walks along the River Trent, River...

These vlogs with Becca are more a keepsake for the two of us and hopefully a bit of entertainment for anyone watching. They’re not designed to be mega-informative about the route, but there will be a smattering of info about where we start from, some things to see along the way, and route length. Anyone interested in the routes we’ve done is welcome to request a follow on Strava. (Excerpt of so...

Parking up at Burbage Bridge, we headed along the path below Burbage Rocks and through Longshaw Estate, down to Padley Gorge, then back via Higger Tor. A little tootle, and Newark crit
Просмотров 278Год назад
Finally got back out after a month off the bike. Got the road bike fixed and went for a short spin, then the next day went to the British Cycling’s finale in the crit series in my home town of Newark. Rode the circuit on the community ride out, then watched the Elite women’s and Men’s races.

It’s been a while since we’ve been together for a hike. Didn’t end up doing the intended route, or even the second suggestion! We always enjoy our time together though, and hope you find some entertainment in it too, though this is more a keepsake for ourselves than anything else.

You're smashing it, keep up the good work :)
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Good to see you back out Debs. I did wonder why I hadn’t seen any bike videos recently. But fair play I understand it’s hard to fit everything in. I’m the same with my own channel. Here’s to 2025. Bryn
My bike is still pride of place in my dining room, looking at me disapprovingly for neglecting her! I’ll hopefully get some riding in at the start of summer before I start my dissertation, after which I might get more of my time back. Hope you’re well and getting out a bit. 😊
Oh wow!! What a hike, sunrise, weather & views 🤩😍 would love to do that. Great to see you both back & hearing your chat (and beeps/swearing 😂) Good luck to both of you with your degrees & training. Happy Birthday Deb 🎉 and wishing you both a HNY 🥂
Thanks Gez! Hope you’re doing okay. HNY to you too🥰🎉🍾 x
Good to see you both back out, a perfect morning that! Only came for the swearing though 😂 Happy new year to you both (and birthday Deb) 😊
Haha! Thanks James. Happy New Year to you too. 😊
Oh wow you certainly got the weather. Lovely vlog. Happy New Year to you both. We are having a few days in Keswick next week to recharge after a long slog in December running our restaurant and catering business. Hoping for a swim or two and some paddleboarding.
Sounds amazing! Have a wonderful time and Happy New Year😊
It always amazes me how many people you get up there
Very good - happy 2025,
Belated Merry Christmas wishes to you. Wishing you and family a Happy New Year 🥳 🥂
Thanks Gez. Happy Christmas and New Year to you and yours🥰🎉 xx
hey Deb, happy Xmas and thanks for checking in - good to see you back on YT and Strava - sounds like you've had a busy time, lots to juggle and things to sort out - roll on the nicer weather and getting back out on the bike for some sunny rides! have a great new year, keep positive :)
Happy Christmas to you too. Hope you’re well and getting some miles in through the winter😊
Happy Christmas to you Deb. Keep up the content. I love the naturally slow pace of your videos. I find them relaxing. Keep up the studying too. Glad i did my degree years ago in the 80s. Happy new year to you.
Thanks Mike. I’ve come back to education in my 40’s. Didn’t get my dyslexia diagnosis until I was 37, and think it’s one of the reasons I did so poorly at school. Finally found my way back to something I love, so it’s worth the graft😊 Enjoy the rest of your Christmas and stay well😊 x
Good to see you back
It's great to see you looking and sounding well Deb. Only yesterday I was thinking about you and how you've been below the radar of late. Merry Christmas to you and Becca 🎄🙂👍
Thanks Tony. Happy Christmas to you too. Hope you’re managing to keep morale up at this time of year. It’s been a very stressful few months with the housing situation, but hopefully it’s all settling down now. Desperate for some outdoor time, but just not enough hours in the day at the moment. 😊 xx
Merry Christmas deb . Stay strong ❤️
Merry Christmas to you, too😊🎄
@deblordoutdoors5783 thank you
Wow that photo ýou took is just awesome. I live the pace of your videos. Its nice that you mention bits of your personal life but that you dont over share. I like that your cycling is not competative and you just do nirmsl stuff that is actually part of your daily life rsthef than the usual making ckntent for content's sake.
Thanks Mike. Hope you’re well☺️
Amazing video, not enough people talk about menatal health and its not something many people watch on here sadly. Remember nomatter where your head is your an inspiration
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. ☺️
@deblordoutdoors5783 it was no bother at all, aimilar beliefa and a similar message i try putting out in my videos.
Looks a nice walk. Great video. Just found your channel. Am liking it so far.
Thanks for having a bit of a look. We’ve slowed down in the last year as we’ve both gone back to uni as (very) mature students, but there’ll hopefully be lots more adventures ahead.
@@deblordoutdoors5783 I just subscribed.
Thanks☺️
Great video. Hardest walk i have ever done. Oh it is tough. Good effort.
It’s certainly is as much a mental challenge as it is physical. Did you do it in good weather?
@@deblordoutdoors5783 it was the hottest day of the summer in 2018. It was too hot. We could not escape the sun. We all ran out of water. I was the oldest in the group and all the others were younger and fitter. My head turned to mush and I pulled out with only a few miles to go. I spotted a way out and took it . I was mid 50s then.
You mentioned quality riding shorts. Do you have any specific brands youd recommend? Im a more curvy lady and find shorts tricky as a result.
I’ve gone for a few pairs of dhb bib shorts and bib tights. I’m not very curvy or busty, but I’m 5’11” and not a skinny build. The tights zip up to the bust and are quite snug, but the shorts are just pull up with a lot of give. I have quite big thighs, and they don’t give me any “sausage legs,” so I’ve stuck with that brand. I’m not sure where you’re based, but I know Marley Blonsky often discusses her plus size cycling clothing, so could be worth checking her socials/ website out to see if there’s anything helpful there that’s tried and tested. ☺️
Thank you very much, finally found the video I needed. I have suffered badly
Thanks for your feedback. I have posted an update to this fairly recently which might be worth checking out. ☺️
Found the update, thanks!
Apologies. Only just saw your first comment. Hope you find something suitable☺️
Looking for a first saddle for my wife. How is it going 2 years later?
Great video and a very impressive mileage 👏 It's always good to see the chuckle sisters out with the ensuing banter 😁 I had to laugh at the 9:04 scene, opening with Becca's head peeping above the bush. I misread the situation and expected your arm to reach out and pass her a roll of Andrex ... I can only imagine just how elated and relieved Amy and Nic were at reaching the end, that was a big enough walk without the night before drinks! Well done ladies, and a very enjoyable video Deb 🙂👍
Thanks Tony! It does look a bit like Becca was having a squat😂 Definitely a great day out. Hope you’re keeping well.
@@deblordoutdoors5783 Hi Deb. Thanks, I'm going out on some local tracks this morning to give myself a cheer up. Are you still cycling much? Cheers.
I’m hoping to get out this weekend. It’s been difficult with crap weather and the amount of uni stuff I’m doing on top of the day job. Just trying to keep walking every day which I’m having to force myself to structure in otherwise I’d barely be off my arse. Hope you enjoy your ride. X
@@deblordoutdoors5783 Yes, it certainly hasn't been reliable summer weather up here this year. I'm on my arse far too much, I desperately need to get off it. Cheers 🙂👍
im pretty new to cycling, and as well as labial soreness you describe, I was getting clitoral pain and an 'unexplained' bout of cycsitis! Cystitis for Cyclists! 😢.. so I vowed to search out womens saddles, I wanted to find a saddle made BY women FOR women, before I commit... but yes, online research seemed like a very good idea before forking out hundreds of pounds for a bike saddle (when my bike is worth peanuts! I used to live next door to a bike shop and they literally gave it to me for free... ! I think someone bought a new bike, didnt know what to do with the old one, and just left it behind with them!).. Im wondering if you have trialled the ISM Metro saddle, which looks similar to the ISM one you try out here, but with a much fatter bottom area. I dont have a particularly large bum, but I know that a large saddle can be more comfy... have you tried these ones at all? best wishes, and THANK YOU for making a very sensible understandable video about womens saddles (for people with vaginas!) 👍🙏🏻🌟🧡🧡🧡
Thanks so much for your comment. No, I haven’t tried that one. I’ll definitely look at it. Hope you find many comfortable hours on the bike☺️☺️
nice - that's quite a trek Deb & crew, well done - I would be swearing too going up those hills! glad the weather held out as the views did look rather nice up there - cheers
We were very lucky with the weather. I was up there on Sunday and the views vanished, which had that happened, would have been an added layer of mental difficulty on a hike that long. Such a fulfilling experience☺️
Fabulous ladies, well done & congrats to all 🎉
Thanks Gez! Glad I finally did something with the footage. It was a really rewarding experience so glad I have some video to relive a bit of it☺️
Wow well done, it’s on my to do list hopefully this year..
It’s such a great route, especially on a good weather day. Only found one place for refreshments en route though so make sure you’re well supplied.
Ace vid mate, well done to you all. That’s another walk on my to do list. Think I’ve done most of the route but as part of other walks. Shout out to your sis, that’s Olympic standard sunburn 😂🥵
Isn’t it?! I had an awful reaction on my legs too. It was stinging like a MF during the day, and the next day I woke up to the most bizarre rashes. We all survived though and it was an amazing day. Definitely recommend it. ☺️
Hi😁 I can't watch today but I will tomorrow👋❤️
Well done both. Good video👍 I've been up there quite a few times. It's always crazy busy. I did Cadair Idris up that way 2 weeks ago, I preferred that. Camped right next to the lake. It's a beautiful mountain and you park at the bottom £6 all day, well 24 hours for me. Hope you make it there one day👋
Sounds lovely. Becca’s boyfriend does quite a lot up that way… just sleeps in his car and hikes all day. I’d love to do a bit of camping when time allows. I’ve done Snowdon a couple of times but really keen to explore more. The views are just stunning. ☺️
@@deblordoutdoors5783 Snowdon is just over 4 hour drive for me. I'm about 30 minutes drive from Pen y Fan. I do more my way. Loads of amazing places to explore if you reach the Brecon Beacons. I camped at Cadair then went to a waterfall called Aber falls. I was camping above the falls,.2 cars hit head on, they were okay but the road was shut for hours. I ended up sleeping in my car and going up the next morning. I'm doing a few in England soon. Only done two. Wales has some hilarious mountain names. English people butcher them😁 I struggle with the names too.
Nice walk with your sister. Oh poop she's nearly 41 now😂 Is that your hip 2.53😁👏👏 I'm older than your sister. Shame to see the rubbish left there. Keep walking🚶🏻♀️🚴♀️👋
She’s nearly 42 now… definitely cracking on😂
@@deblordoutdoors5783 🤣 old git. I'm 45😳
@JamieHarding5 I am this year too😬 We can all be in the semi-old fart club😂
@@deblordoutdoors5783 Oh wow, you are soo old🤣👏👏 You walk and bike so you are fit, you'd jump over a lot of younger people's heads💪👍 I walk and 🚶🏻♂️ 🚶🏻♂️ 🚶🏻♂️🚶🏻♂️😁
The Border hills are not spectacular (like many Highland hills), but they are never boring. There is always something different to see, depending on season, weather..... and mood. If you have a fascination for "boob hills", there are also the "Maiden's paps" about 10-15 miles South of Hawick... :-) I walk a lot in the hills to the South of Hawick. Along the old railway track, into the forests towards Newcastleton. Occasionally across the Border, into Kielder, but only briefly as there are more restrictions on places to camp and wander. I no longer have a passport.... why would I bother when I have Scotland's hills on my doorstep?
Absolutely! Will check out the Maiden’s Paps when I’m back in August☺️ Living in a town in a flat county as I do, waking up and looking out across the Borders landscape is a real treat. I’ve been having a bit of a look at house prices up there. Certainly wouldn’t rule a move out. ☺️
nice video and walk Deb, nice route- well done getting out and up those hills after not much sleep - looked like it was worth it though and it's good that you got to go back up there after so long. I often use OS maps but find myself on an adjacent farm trail having to avoid cows and sheep and jumping over fences, there will be a waymarker somewhere!! - all part of the fun :) cheers
Glad it’s not just me😂 It definitely makes it more interesting. Becca hates it when I’ve suggested a route for us to do together and it ends up like that, but I’m quite happy bimbling around wading through fields without paths and jumping over barbed wire. The only time I was really scared was during lockdown when I ended up on a local MOD runway😬 Some gates shouldn’t be jumped😂
awesome video!
Thanks for having a look☺️
Nice that Deb 👌
Cheers James☺️
It's nice to see you back out Deb, and in an area that means something to you. I couldn't quite figure out which route direction you took but from Minto village there's a track that goes directly up the cleavage of the breasticles (I can't believe I've just typed that ...) 🤭 I'm actually going to Hawick next week for three days with my touring bike, then again the week after for another three days with my gravel bike. I hope I get the clear views that you had. Cheers Deb and all the best 👍
Hi Tony☺️ Hope you get decent enough weather to have a good time up there. I maybe did go up the cleavage😂 I did the route in reverse I think, as I wanted to do the longer bit first and finish with the hills. I’ll paste the route here that I did from OS maps, if you can open it. explore.osmaps.com/route/6244467/minto-hill-from-minto-village-circular We’re going back in August and staying near Hawick again, so I imagine I’ll get this route in again now I know where I’m going. X
@@deblordoutdoors5783 Hi Deb 🙂 Yes, the route opened up just fine. Thanks. Plenty of nice lonely walking and cycling to be had around there, as I'm sure you'll know 🙂 I'll be wild camping near Bonchester Bridge, Langholm, Denholm and Moffat so I'll get to see a big chunk of the Borders and D&G. I'll be midweek so should be quite peaceful. I really like it up there. Are you staying for a few days on your next visit? Cheers 👍 x
@tonypaddler Yes, we’ve booked 3 nights. There was more touristy stuff we want to do in Edinburgh, as well as a bit of mooching around Hawick and Langholm. I want to find out what a few of those other hills are too☺️ x
OMG thank you so much for making this video! You're the only one talking about this online. I searched everywhere for a tip or a useful information about this problem, and I felt so alone. Now thanks to you I know that I'm not the only one suffering from soreness when riding, but you also helped with a great information on how to solve this problem. The bike industry only cares about men. Thank you again for the video!
Thanks so much for this comment. Hope you find a comfortable solution and that more of us talk to each other and share experience and tips☺️
Good video, thank you!
Great video - we need to talk about this more! You can buy a $10,000+ bike but women can’t get a saddle that doesn’t hurt! Hmm
It’s definitely an issue that’s not going away. Thanks for checking the video out☺️
The weather has been awful, if its not raining, its windy 🙈 roll on summer
All 3 days of it😜
nice to see you back out on the bike Deb, sounds like you've got lots going on and it's always hard to balance work/studies/life - but it's always good to get a ride in when you can - fingers crossed some more sunny days and time to get out on the bike - so good for the headspace! cheers and keep waffling :)
Unfortunately I have to debunk the title of your video, because this isn't weather peculiar only to Great Britain, I live in Berlin, Germany and the weather here has been exactly the same, as it always is, because this is just weather typical for Northern Europe, because it's all the same weather systems - Germans are even more disparaging about it, and as soon as it rains here they call it "British weather".
Same here in France this year. I went swimming in the sea on 13th April, then last week we had frost every night.
A nice chatty catch-up with your followers @deblordoutdoors5783 😊 You had a lovely morning for it!
Weather is really up and down at the moment but have enjoyed the sunny spells. Good luck with your studies, I hope it goes well. A Degree in two years, that is tough going. I’m in my last year of study, doing a Degree over three years has been pretty hard going. Take care Deb and all the best 😊
Thanks Rachel. I figured that for 2 years, I could just get my head down and crack on. It’s a challenge, but I’m enjoying it. Hope you’re enjoying yours too☺️
hi Deb great to see you out and about on the bike again
Yay, it's great to see you back out on your bike 🚲👏 You sounded very positive 😀 and pleased to be out on your bike 👌 That "waffling" wasn't "a bunch of excuses", they were reasons! Big difference 🙂 Waffle on, Deb 😁👍
Cheers Tony😃
No excuses needed, it’s life. Well done last week with your cycling. I never fast now menopausal and especially if I’m riding, my ole body needs nutrients. Great to see you posting 👍🚴♀️
Very true💚
PEOPLE with vaginas??? WOMEN. So sick of this cult.
Very useful thanks, am looking at this very bike myself currently. Or possibly the 8.9. Cheers from a not very sunny Grantham!
I was really conscious about the amount of language i used in my videos when i started this youtube thing, but the pair of you have made me feel SO much more comfortable with it 😂 👌 earned yourself a sub for that alone! Lovely stuff 👏
Thanks! To be honest, sometimes I cringe a little watching it back, but with the hiking videos we do together, it’s more about keeping memory of the day for ourselves, and we are quite sweary, so we’re just being ourselves☺️ Will check your channel out too.
@@deblordoutdoors5783 it's a good thing! It's nice to see natural content and people being themselves.
nice walk/mooch around ladies, good to see you back, hope you start feeling better soon Deb - its always good to get out into the trails when you can, cheers
Thanks☺️ Still feeling quite fatigued from this virus, but I’ve definitely lost a lot of fitness since starting a full-time degree whilst still working full-time.
