- The Barceló Maya Riviera is the adults only section of the Barceló Maya Grand Resort located in Riviera Maya about 45 minutes away from Cancun, Mexico. I stayed on level two in the Garden view room 2814 and my mom stayed on the 5th floor in the Ocean view room 5722. Both room's are amazing and the staff was great at sanitary precautions which was especially important since we traveled to Mexico during covid. I hope this video helps you to decide if the upgrade in price (for me was around $400 but price varies) to the Ocean view is worth it. In the end we stayed in our garden view and enjoyed it very much. The peaceful nature was refreshing. However, can you pass up that amazing ocean view?! The hot tub is an upgrade in the other Barcelo sections so I was so happy every room has one in the AO!

Thanks for watching! I do not think they do. If i remember correctly they are in the hall by the bathroom. I get hot as well and did not have an issue for my time of year at least.

how was the partying/ night life? me and buddies wanna go there soon!
The night club and strikers (which is where most people go for late night snacks, bowling and hang out after drinking too much all night) was shut down because of covid so that was a huge bummer! When I went there 5 years ago it was definitely much more lively at night but at the same time I find all resorts to be not as party mode as cruises if you've ever been. I went with a large group of people so that helped. This resort tends to focus more on daytime partying by the pool. They did have karaoke at the adults only section that was getting pretty rowdy at night and the bar right next to it is open til 2 am so if you do go during covid, I suggest staying at the AO for more night life! Sorry this is so long. I truly understand needing night life on vacations haha.

Thanks for the question! All back to normal except Jaguars (nightclub) is not open and Strikers closes at 2am. It use to be 24/7. No masks anymore. USA still requires the rapid covid test before returning.
Hey I have a question I was wondering if you were able to answer for me. I am currently trying to book a 7 day all inclusive at that hotel but they only offer the junior suite for the dates that I am looking at. Do you know if it is possible to upgrade to the Junior ocean view when I get there? Or would I have to do that all before hand when I arrive?
Hello! Are you looking through their direct site? If they do not have it on their direct site it may be sold out for the dates. I have always booked directly through their site and I do know if you book through them you can upgrade when you get their as long as that room is available for your whole trip :)

No unfortunately I'm not. I am Booking through Air Transat Vacation which includes Air Fare and hotel etc. One of those package deals. But the Ocean view is available, just not on the dates I want.
@@namhoang8383 it sounds like it is sold out then for your dates. It is worth asking when you arrive because on their website they offer free cancellation so someone may book it and then give up the room prior if they decide not to go. I cant see why they wouldn’t allow you to upgrade and just pay the difference to them separately.

Does there seem to be a way to put an Oceanview room anywhere near a garden view? I am taking my daughter and her boyfriend in June. I am staying in an oceanfront and they are garden, as are my parents who are coming for just a couple days. Does the hotel seem to be accommodating if we want to be a shorter walk to amenities? My parents really can't walk to far.
Yes they are definitely accommodating. I recommended calling ahead of time to let them know who you are staying with and which location each group would like. My mom and grandma had a room right by the elevator and that was very nice to get to the lobby fast and easy. Ocean view rooms are right across from garden view rooms in most of the section so that would be easy as well assuming they aren’t very full. Have fun!

@@kimgaunt5117 It of course all depends who is there but the palace bar and AO lobby they had stuff going on at night like karaoke and during spring break time right now it was full of teens and young adults. They can get into the bars at night being 18. When I was there that area was more relaxed however. That was during down time in October. During the day i recommend hanging out in the Colonial section at least a couple days because they can kayak or snorkel and do the water sport activities. The pools don’t constantly have dancing and loud music but at certain times djs will come out to each section so i recommend checking out the activities list for the week to get the times and see what they want to do or watch! :)
Is ocean view and ocean front same thing? It’s saying ocean front on the website
Yes if you are at the adult only (Maya riviera) section then all the rooms are ocean view or garden view since it’s just one long and skinny building where one faces the ocean and not spread out like the others
How’s the food at strikers
Their food is my favorite 😄 But honestly I eat like a child. It’s definitely more fried bar food and good for soaking up alcohol lol
