Thank you for this series on "old windows". My wife and I just bought an Eastlake Victorian Cottage in Southern Virginia and the windows need work. This has been a great help!
Safety aside, wouldn't it be faster, easier, and no more expensive to run down to a big box rather than a glass shop and grab a piece of clear plastic off the shelf and install it? Also a lot easier for a novice to trim a thin sheet of plexi-acrylic or polycarbonate if need to make it fit. And a mistake with plastic isn't going to result in broken glass and another trip to the glass shop - and/or stitches.
Well it definitely would be uglier with plastic and I have standards that I just can't compromise on as far as cuteness goes. Even with a fast fix. If you're going to put lipstick on a pig, then at least make it Dior 999!
@@AdrienneLovesOldHouses While I would say that no one could visually tell the difference, at this point I think all we can do is agree to disagree, and I do wish you the best. Your video was really fun to watch! Also, while I know Dior is make-up, I have absolutely no idea what Dior 999 is!! 🤔😁
Technique, being down and dirty fix, is great but don't use single strength glass in a window up against a door, that is freaking dangerous, especially to kids and any clumsy friends or relatives. Use plexiglass or polycarbonate rather than glass (especially single strength!) for that particular fix. Save a couple bucks on the glass and spend a couple hundred in the emergency room.
The main reason is because I didn't paint it. But also, the whole unit needed to be pulled out and redone. You are right that the wood prep is a big factor too. I didn't do those things because I didn't have time, yet I needed some sort of fix that would look decent until I got more time. Thanks for watching :)
This was helpful and completely entertaining!

You're welcome! Congrats on the house : )
I am so glad you kept the mistake in there. I really thought the glass was going to break when you shot the staples in. Best video yet !!
HAHA! Yeah it's scary sounding!
Yeah, lol!! Might have been a better video if the glass broke trying to fix it!!
There's always next time!
Love your fun presentation.
Thanks!!
I LOVE your attitude, you are super cool. I'm doing this for the first time and its super hard
Aww thx! Don't worry if you mess up, I do all the time!
Absolutely beautiful
🤣🤣😂😂thank you for making me feel better about having to do this project that I otherwise do not want to do 🤭
This was informative and hilarious, you should put it on tiktok 😅
dig into your vacuum bag and find the glacier points 😅
wondering if you could just cut a dollar store picture glass for something that small as a temporary fix
Yeah you could.

True, but as I mentioned in the vid, this is the fastest cheapest way to go that is not a permanent fix...when you just need to get something done ;)
Other than better prep of the wood... and a maybe a few more points, why is this labeled a temp fix? 🤔

I'd rather be watching Law & Order
