"The 8-Bit Big Band" is a 30-65 member Jazz/pops orchestra that formed to celebrate and realize some of the best themes from video game music from all consoles and eras arranged in a large ensemble Jazz/Pop/Rock setting!
Blending together timeless musical themes from Nintendo, Sega, Sony, and more then re-arranging them in genres and styles of all musical inspirations, The 8-Bit Big Band has members from all around the world, but most reside primarily in New York City, and are some of the most highly sought after musicians and performers.

My mum is 63 and has been a gamer ever since she first visited arcades. So I knew she'd love this one, and she did - she told me it took her right back. :) I would only have been a few years old when the game came out in arcades!
Such a classic tune that I never expected to get the big band treatment. This arrangement gives sooo much life to the original. What a mood 😌

I went to the Outrun arcade machine regularly. And practiced. and practiced.
Always drifting around to this song, for some reason wearing gym gloves? And drumming on the steering wheel to the beat of this song.
I noticed I started to gather a crowd of kids. I had every turn memorized in my head. I got in the groove and the song helped a lot.
Finally, after a fortune of quarters spent I finished... the easiest route.
That was the end of my Outrun career, gotta stop when you're on top.

The sax solo in the middle of this is class.
Doesn't stray far from the original at first blush, the the parade of tweaks, additions, tiny mode changes, and fantastic solo work really combine to change the mood - from a classic summer driving city pop breeze to something that feels like it's really telling a story. It's the little things that add up here. Absolutely splendid.
How about that brief but absolutely lovely cello solo at 3:15? Jared Schonig on drums ate, and left no crumbs as usual. Superbly outstanding work as always!!!
Not only the music, the bottom pixel art animation is amazing!
Amazing. I've never felt any of the re-imaginings of the original chip-tune did anything but take away from the magic, but this added to it enormously. God I with I could hear the same treatment given to Magical Sound Shower or Splash Wave.

I wasn't even looking for this song but I stumbled on it while I just happened to be in an "obsessing over old-school Sega" mood. You all did a fantastic job of bringing one of the greatest Sega songs of all time to life. I hope this isn't the last time you cover an Out Run song... or a non-Sonic Sega song.

The entire original OutRun soundtrack would be nice, it's only four tracks after all. Could also be a nice opportunity to bring back Let's Play Live (separately, based on the individual arrangements, OutRun as a game might not be ideal though).

Thank you for doing the percussion justice. The arcade original felt like it was meant for a band with how it was arranged, and I cannot imagine one that could do this song any better. I will be cruisin to this one.

Yesterday, I completed "Hong Kong" course on "Outrunners" for the first time ever - I had selected "Passing Breeze" for my music!

Man I love the Outrun OST, whenever I go to the local barcade I get a drink and hit up the Outrun cabinet/seat and live out my dreams. Great stuff. Saw some Adam Neely in there and was actively listening for the lick too. :)
Thank you for making my dream come true. I had wanted to do an arrangement of this in high school, something our teacher allowed if we approached him with something we wanted to do for school concerts, but sadly I didn't get to. Love playing this song on my sax along with Magical Sound Shower.

You’ve completed my life with this performance. There is a stretch of road near my house North of San Diego lined with palm trees on both sides that I’ve always said is my real life Outrun. I admit I don’t have a red convertible but a blue Camaro. However, this was the final touch. I have now driven this stretch with Passing Breeze blaring multiple times. Thank you.

I had a great time playing the PSP version of Outrun when a friend lent me the game and console for a while. It did have this song in a samba rearrangement, which I loved.
I wasn't sure which route you guys would take with this Sega classic, but when I first started to hear the notes and recognized the song, I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed.
