This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!

the reason that the part jumped from the jigsaw was that you were forcing the blade into a tight interior curve, causing the waste portion to pinch the blade against the part. The way around that is to make several parallel relief cuts into the curve's waste, separating it into several thin strips which will clear easily when you go back to cut the curve.
Very nice idea, by the way. I don't have a woodworking space yet, but when I do, I might set up my first workbench this way.

Nice, those clamps are cool. I applaud your repurposing of material, too. For added horizontal work space I just keep a couple of hollow core doors on hand and throw one on a pair of sawhorses, don't have problems with it sliding around.
But WHOA.... at 3:06, I would love to get a better look at your little home made "drill press." I don't have a drill press of any sort and can't really justify the cost or space for one, but that would come in handy when a perfectly plumb drill line is called for, or being able to use Forstner bits.

A little tip, to stop your glue up's moving use a little salt, it acts like grit and does not affect the glue.

DO JOT USE GLOVES WHILE USING POWERTOOLS

  • @christianbuzio9468
    @christianbuzio9468 7 лет назад +3

such a nice idea. But i want advice you that wearing that kind of gloves, part in rubber, and more general, wearing gloves is not a very good idea. The much tough they are, the easier they get trapped in blade theeth.
Gloves tend to trap your hand inside of themself and a little cut could easily became a very harmul series of cut.
May it sound stupid but, is better to loose a finger rather than a fll hand.
It is just my advice obviously but think about it. I still want to see a lot of your works ;)
    take care!

If your using a bandsaw don't ever use gloves, the glove will pull you down into the blade... as bad as it is, take the cut..... a upside down jigsaw won't be a problem as it doesn't rotate like a bandsaw blade

  • @YknotLearnall

    Nice clamp design.
Oh, and that's not a "folding" workbench. There's no folding to it. "Portable" I believe is the word your looking for. While I on the other hand, am looking for a "Folding" Portable workbench.
One thing with your clamp design. For the next version or perhaps you can mod these if you so choose.
Adding a small lip and a slight draw to the base of the clamp will draw the leg base, in this case your sawhorses, to the table on the vertical plane. Right now it just squeezes it on the horizontal plane. A small catch lip will ensure the legs are drawn tight to the door evenly. And prevent up and down movement when hammering on it. Especially when sitting on a hard surface. Your workbench isn't considered a heavy workbench. On a hard surface it'll encure bounce. Even clamped as you have it, the legs can work themselves away from the door, causing the work surface to tilt.
Anyway.. nicely done. And thanks for sharing.
    Cheers...
