I have looked at so many sawhorses on YT over the last couple months. Some are good, some are just okay. Then I stumbled onto this video and was so glad I did. Simple design, simple to build, ver practical and small price for the plans. Thank you so much for posting this DIY build.
This is a great idea. Using straps is very clever. I've used straps for many unusual things over the years and they perform much better than people expect. One tip would be to put a Fastex clip in the strap. They are crazy strong and make setup and tear down 100x easier.
I am starting my 22nd year as a carpenter(local175). Two thumbs up my friend, that is one of the best folding sawhorses I have ever seen. Great idea, easy transition and sturdy. Livin the dream, building America
Brilliant design, like the other guy said, in seeing these we could probably just build them without plans with maybe a little trial and error. But a design this great definitely deserves the $5.
Interesting design. If i were building them, however, I would use 2x6s, with clamp notches cut on one edge, and V-notches on the other, and eliminate the need for all the different crossbars.
Made two, and I love them. I used them to unload plywood right from back of truck onto shopdogs with a grid, and foam insulation board to cut down my plywood. Then used them to make a low entertainment center. Made the whole project go so much easier. Thanks woodshopdude. You are great. Thanks for sharing you great design.
Excellent saw horses! Very strong and versatile. I love your use of leverage, each horse is like 2 pairs of bolt cutters. The more weight you put on it, the tighter it gets.
I've used this x brace design for years as a sawbuck for cutting firewood. This is a great design for a saw horse, I got your plans, can't wait to build some, I just might make mine a bit taller. Thanks woodshopdude.
Thank you Grant for responding to my messages. Everything was sorted out and the plans were made available to me. They are so well presented and easy to follow. Every angle has a template which is full size so even a novice would be able to make these. Great product.
I just came across your sawhorse video. I looked at the plans for purchase. I couldn't believe how inexpensive ($5) they were. I'm sure that I could have built them from the photos but it will be easier with the plans. Brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing!
Most excellent.!! Well thought out design. I've had multiple saw horse configurations to do all of the above, but not in the one device. Great design yields multiple configurations, and they seem well thought out. I'll see, very soon too! Thank you!
I just bought a set of plans. Instant download and just excellent detail. I am looking forward to this project . I have bought other plans online, no question, these are the best by far. Actual size templates and great explanation of the compound cuts. A real bargain at 5.00. First set I printed using the 2 sided option but this puts the 2 templates on the same sheet of paper so I printed a second set. On my colour laser printer, these are amazing, super high quality. Thank you very much.
The hallmark of good design is not complexity but simplicity, those are good and very simple the changeable top beam and strap tension holding it together is genius idea
Shop dude, I've seen numerous designs on RUclips of your shopdog. They're probably copying your design tho, but you have brilliantly designed THE BEST sawhorses by far!!! I know people can just buy the materials and make them their selves easily. I just wish and maybe you do, can make a boatload of money for your BRILLIANT invention. W O W!!! THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Thank you for sharing. God Bless.
Hi Grant ... I had heard about your sawhorse design from another website that had the class to acknowledge you as the originator of this system. I found them to be as clever as it gets ... They will meet my needs perfectly. I plan on a pair of 2"x4"x4' with 3 sets of notches for 3 more 2"x4"x8' as a sacraficial grid for breaking down full size sheet products. I've done this before on some very sturdy sawhorses I had built that were fantastic ... (other than it took a squad of Marines to move them). Your shopdogs will be perfect for what I need and I'll be able to set it up all by my 70 yr. old self. Thanks so much for the great design. Cheers, Dave
We have a pair of these beauties and they get used more than anything in our garage. I love to do painting projects with old pieces of furniture. It makes a paint job so much easier. We have also used these for making tables when having a garage sale or when family comes over to eat. My children even know how to set them up- it is really that easy. My favorite part is how flat they fold up making it easy to store. Love Love these! PERFECT christmas gift!
The legacy you are building as a content creator is one that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the industry, inspiring future generations of creators to push boundaries, tell meaningful stories, and embrace their unique voices.
Great looking sawhorses, just searched for Sawhorses, yours came up first. Loved the design. Paid $6.83 Australian....friggin bargain. Well done woodshopdude looking forward to making them
Follow Up Post: I found the plans to be very impressive, and easy to follow. It's the holiday season right now, so can't get around to making a set just now, but I'll make one more post and let you know how the build goes.
yours wins the prize in my book; I can easily make it and love you can change the tops around for different use's. I saw some others on here that were very nicely done and great for in the shop, but yours will cover shop and outside the shop work.
Great product and it got me thinking maybe the pad the v and the slot can all be made to work on one top centre support on one side alternate from v to slot at 3.5 to 4" spacing and on the other side router out a small slot and introduce a piece of high density foam standing about 1/8" proud of the surface this will protect and tidy work and if you are just putting a work board across then it might help level up on uneven floor surfaces (um bit of a leap that last bit).
I hate my old saw horses they wobble they don't fold, then I found your design. I just finished one set from your planes. I'm making one more set tomorrow. I love them, they are rock solid and the planes are good easy to follow and well thought out. Thanks for putting this together and offering up the planes. Well done.
i run a handyman business and was looking for a pair of folding sawhorses. after checking my homedepot and not happy with what i found, i will be ordering the plans for these. they are perfect for what i need.
regardless of some of these comments. I think you have done a great job. I love the cleat hanging set up for them. I will have to do this in my shop. Thanks again
I'm 78 years old and believe this is the best sawhorse design I ever saw. Economical, simple to assemble and works like a dream! I would have saved mucho dollars and many hours if I had found these shopdogs 68 years ago!! For security, I suggest a bright coat of scarlet red paint, plus stencil on your name and phone number in black. We maybe can't stop thieves, but we can force those bums to make use of our shopdogs in secrecy! My design suggestions? None. My building suggestions? Advise your customers to buy only Douglas Fir from a lumber yard. Suggest they pay a few bucks extra, then handpick only "near perfect" 12 foot long pieces. My local home centers stock only inexpensive (??) pine that is warped, split, twisted, bent, curved, knotted, wet, and otherwise damaged 2 x 4's in any length.
I just designed my own saw horses and was about to begin making a how to video. I like your idea as well. I wish I saw it before now. I like all the attachments.
I work at a lumber store. Our home made sawhorses routinely support entire units of lumber and associated abuse from forklifts. They wobble and wiggle and do not take advantage of any angularity making the units stronger as the load increases. I like everything I see in this saw horse design.
My miter saw is a solid metal one with metal saw guides. The blade has a metal spine that fits into the guides and is about 6" - 10" deep and quite long. The miter table was bolted onto a board with the rail under it to clamp into a vise.
I really have to laugh at the comments here about the strength of this sawhorse, obviously made by people that just do not understand the strength of materials, I bought the plans a year ago and have just got around to building mine, at this moment there is a 1 1/2 ton car resting on a pair of these, just how much weight do people want to place on a sawhorse ? Yes, there are problem transferring the template dimensions onto the wood you have, but surely people have enough intelligence to realise that the fixing bolt passes through the centre line of whatever material is used, as for robbing the bloke of the price of a cup of coffee and not paying a piddling $5 for the plans, well, those people do not deserve a pair of these excellent sawhorses. Many thanks for posting this video and helping the intelligent practical people of the World.
Bought your plans and built a set... European equivalent to 2"x4" I found is 38x89mm lumber. I used 5 lengths of 270cm. No dimensions-adjustments needed. They turned out great!
Hi Jan, you mentioned that you bought Grant Banash’s plans for a folding sawhorse. I can’t see a link to buying same and I’m wondering if you could send me the link so that I can do the same.
Dear Grant, I downloaded and followed your plans and ended up with a great pair of saw horses. Inflation has gone ahead and my shop bought timber and straps cost me ~$150.00. Now I have the tools to break down pallets so that I can make a set of saw horses for cheap!

One of the greatest Folding Sawhorse I have seen.
One word ....BRILLIANT!!! WITH THE CHOICES YOU HAVE FOR work horses these are the best!
Seen allot of videos about sawhorses and this is the best so far

Superb plans! Very easy to follow and with excellent photos and diagrams. Glad I purchased them.

very very nicely done. These are probably the best saw horses I've seen in a while and the attachments are great!
Very good.....I've been a carpenter/builder. for 38 years now...and that's got to be one of the best saw horse Idea's I've seen.....
Thank you Grant for responding to my messages. Everything was sorted out and the plans were made available to me. They are so well presented and easy to follow. Every angle has a template which is full size so even a novice would be able to make these. Great product.

great job , I am Brazilian and I love working with wood , for me is a therapy , and see your work inspires me. congratulations.
For sure the BEST versatile saw horses ever!!

I used your video as a reference to make a set of these, only took about an hour and turned out great. Thanks for the video!
Human ingenuity at its best, remarkable, a labor of love. Great Job!, thanks for sharing your creativity with us. I will make some.
The hallmark of good design is not complexity but simplicity, those are good and very simple the changeable top beam and strap tension holding it together is genius idea
The basic design is great! I have taken the basic design and added attachments to fit my needs. Awesome idea!

Yeah, I agree, that was an excellent idea for sawhorses. I look forward to building those someday!
Super strong, flexible & foldable sawhorses. I have had these for 8 years.

Smart man. Deserves to be paid for his ingenuity. I did.
Wow, you are awesome, great design simple but effective!
Purchasing one right now.
The legacy you are building as a content creator is one that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the industry, inspiring future generations of creators to push boundaries, tell meaningful stories, and embrace their unique voices.
Built a pair of these 3 years ago, greatest sawhorse I have ever used. Getting ready to rebuild them due to abuse.
Do you happen to know the overall height based on a 2x4 top support and the leg length specified in the plans? Thanks!
ABSOLUTELY GENIUS!!! I really love the miter saw set-up. This is the best design I've ever seen. BIG Thumbs up! Had to subscribe to this...!
Thank you for sharing, creativity at it's best!
Well that settles it; you just ended my sawhorse building you tube search!! Thanks for all the great info!! Fixin to build these now.
Még mindig a legjobb variáció, amit csak találni lehet ebben a témában! 👍🏼
So clever and versatile! Great design.
this is great. I don't have a shop and this idea will make a great and quick work area anywhere. Thanks for sharing.
I just saw this.
Excellent idea! Very creative with the attachments.
Man those are handy as a shirt pocket. Good job. I think I'll build a couple sets. Thanks for sharing.
Super idea, I love the chop saw mount. Well done
Brilliant! The best design I have seen. Thanks.

Awesome and versatile sawhorse.Thank You
We need guys like you in the Govt. Old fashioned good thinking! Thanks for sharing/inspiring !

Excellent!! Thanks for sharing. Great design!
Exactly what I was looking for! Multi-purpose folding saw horses. I really like the miter saw jig as well as your other jigs. Thumbs-up and Subscribe.
Genius! Another attachment I can think of would be an out feed support. With all these uses, I think making 4 initially is not too many.
Holy moly. *That's* friggin' awesome! Well done.
Excellent thinking - and I (Like many) will appreciate your sharing the design. I am off to the store now for some stock to make them.
Simply Brilliant, mind blowing concept and crisp video.
Very easy to build, thanks for the idea!!!
this is economical, compact and simply genius
I hate my old saw horses they wobble they don't fold, then I found your design. I just finished one set from your planes. I'm making one more set tomorrow. I love them, they are rock solid and the planes are good easy to follow and well thought out. Thanks for putting this together and offering up the planes. Well done.
I also bought the plans. What did you use for the length of 'A' the top support member? It's not specified in the plans. Thanks!
i run a handyman business and was looking for a pair of folding sawhorses. after checking my homedepot and not happy with what i found, i will be ordering the plans for these. they are perfect for what i need.
regardless of some of these comments. I think you have done a great job. I love the cleat hanging set up for them. I will have to do this in my shop. Thanks again
Brilliant, fantastic idea thank you for sharing.
Brilliant design sir, thanks for the ideas. Need to make a portal reloading bench, this adds new look at things I was planning
Wow these are great! Can't wait to make them.
Awesome, just bought the plans and will be making these tomorrow!

received plans .nice one grant .a little project for the week end thanks.
I just designed my own saw horses and was about to begin making a how to video. I like your idea as well. I wish I saw it before now. I like all the attachments.
it was all amazing but i think what i liked the most was when it was turned into a miter saw stand and adjustable hangoff support
They are just great, thanks!
The best folding saw horses I have ever seen. I made two, but I used bungee cords instead of straps, faster, and I'm lazy, so I like faster.
Holy Macaroni!!! that's freaking brilliant, well done Sir.
I built a pair and I use them all of the time. Great idea, good plans.
Wonderful, ingenuity at it's best!
Its a genius sawhorses..Thank you, bro!
great job, this is exactly what I am looking for
Woodshopdude, you're a genius. Very ingenious!
Paid and downloaded because you came up with a great design and deserve the five bucks if I build them, which I probably will.
The plans look great!
this is a really GREAT idea!
Great Design!!! Thanks for the Idea!!!
Just bought your plans and built a pair. Rock solid. Thanks.
Dear Dave, where are Grant Banash’s plans? I’m trying to get hold of some to make my own folding sawhorses.
Fantastic design!
I work at a lumber store. Our home made sawhorses routinely support entire units of lumber and associated abuse from forklifts.
They wobble and wiggle and do not take advantage of any angularity making the units stronger as the load increases.
I like everything I see in this saw horse design.
Definitely the best plans for dyi workhorses.
Some great ideas in this one.
Will have to do a pair of these and save space time and money :)
Thanks woodshopdude.
Just great, mate, just great!
Love it, nice job my man and great ideas especially with miter saw part. I'll be doing this soon!!
We're can I get plans
Everywhere I look, someone has the ultimate sawhorse. what they are is to get you to buy their plans.
Weight capabilities are based on species and quality of materials being used and also craftsmanship of the Shopdog.
Great design!

One year later: Did you survive going under that car?
Brilliant saw horses,thanks
Nice!!! Great design work, well done!!!

Hi Jan, you mentioned that you bought Grant Banash’s plans for a folding sawhorse. I can’t see a link to buying same and I’m wondering if you could send me the link so that I can do the same.
you made most complete sawhorse so far🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Dear Grant, I downloaded and followed your plans and ended up with a great pair of saw horses. Inflation has gone ahead and my shop bought timber and straps cost me ~$150.00. Now I have the tools to break down pallets so that I can make a set of saw horses for cheap!
Very nice .. I have seen something like this before but yours is great
