    A little hint, when photographing quartz or other light colored or translucent stones use a black backdrop for contrast. This really makes the details in the mineral stand out, and the viewer can perceive more visual information that way. You can also use substage lighting which helps to illuminate the specimen in a more pronounced way.
    Beautiful specimens BTW.

    Quartz is one of my favorite stones! It's so cool! And so diverse. It's useful, it's super hard. It's just such a cool stone!

    The way I resonated with him when he said “that’s one of my babies” lol that is exactly what I say after I tell people about my crystals 😂 thanks for the knowledge!

    Not sure I can pick a favorite, they were all so cool and unique!
    Also, I forget what it means to half a right-handed or left-handed crystal.

    I loved this episode. Epic! :) You didn't show any quartz crystals with phantoms. I like those, but I was certainly not disappointed in this display at all.

    (I'm bingewatching your vids right now so HI again!!!)
    I have a very small & very clear smoky quartz that made me think of the Gwindel Quartz in this video. I would love to add one of them to my collection alongside maybe a small Spirit Quartz!
    I must ask tho: I missed a "Elestial Quartz"! If that is the right descripion for them? They are, by far, my most favourite grow forms of Quartz! They remind me a bit of scales as one specimen that I saw reminded me of aligator scales!

    I love these videos! I’m a business major but a rock hound so educating myself has been important. Got a spot in ATL a mile from my house (and another in my best friends backyard!!) with so many milky candle & artichoke quartz clusters! The bigger they get, the crazier the variations!

    What a most excellent "show and tell". I learned a lot about the different crystal structures found in quartz. I have a piece of quartz that was labed "angel wings" and it looks very much like half of the radiating quartz you showed. So i guess now I can label it as "radiating quartz". I have learned so much about my collection since I found and subscribed to the JTV youtube channel. You have all helped me learn so much more about my collection. I thank you all and your guests so much.

    8:15 I have one of those type of specimens. A cactus cluster with a quartz point sticking out the end. Like a crystal, mostly covered with drusy crystals.
    My other favorite specimen I have is a giant crystal, 50mm by 73mm. Its a 6 sided crystal, but narrower on one side, like a rectangle.
    I've also got a large 80mm round cluster of little 10mm tall or so quartz crystals.
    Gah.. like you say.. its so hard to have just one favorite. They're all so cool and interesting. Although now i've got some more specimens to look for, lol. I loved that "bowtie" one!

    Quartz Crystals remind me of little magical gnomes and my mind puts all of it into a magical mushroom 🍄 field or forrest where little earth fairies fly around tapping the area and boop~a quartz Crystal is born.
    Ha ha.
    I love them..they really are magical. Fantastic and informative podcast-thank you!

  • @patriciamorgan6545
    @patriciamorgan6545 2 года назад

    I have a gemstone specimen that resembles the "bowtie". It has color similar to morganite, and is growing off a matrix of a different material (possibly calcium containing). Unfortunately, it became detached from its indentification info. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

    • @gems
      @gems  2 года назад

      For all things quartz I refer to the quartz page out of Germany www.quartzpage.de/gro_text.html#elestial. The first time you visit you will probably have to set the page to default to English. While you are there you can check out their articles of all the different quartz crystal forms.
