Danny is one of the best living drummers on the planet PERIOD. I love watching people react to this for the first time.

With Neil Peart's passing, Danny Carey picked up the G.O.A.T. baton and is carrying it in full stride, his polyrhythm skills are insane....👏🤘🏻🇺🇸
The comparison is not fair to Neil. Danny's taken drumming to a whooole other level. Neil perhaps could've taken the challenge and evolved even more, but fact is Neil didn't play at the same degree of dificulty (4 time signatures one for each limb is beyond ridiculous). Then there is Danny's power and ridiculous stamina. Have anyone ever counted drumhits per song and whole concerts? It'd be intereseting to see how others would stack up to that.
Anyway. Not taking ANYthing away from Neil. Amazing drummer.

The band Tool is Danny Carey (drums) Maynard Keenan (vocals) Adam Jones (guitar) and Justin Chancellor (bass). They’ve been around since around 1989. Maynard is also a US Army veteran.

Exactly what I was thinking. But hey, an actual reaction to the song period, would've been great. I think some of these "reactors" should just say "listeners" . The ones that play the song. Then immediately say farewell. With extremely little to say. And your right. Saying- drum critic - definitely implies. That he was gonna talk about the performance and, I dunno. Analyze and critique the performance, maybe.? Maybe he's just stoned and forgot. Hopefully anyways. Lol

I've seen Tool last Tuesday on their last show of their world tour 22. I'm still hyped, they played pneuma and almost every song on my playlist ^-^
I seen them up here in denver for the first time back in January and it's by far the best damn show I've ever witnessed. TOOL IS FOREVER

Leap Year night 29th February 2020 was my fifth time seeing Tool. We got to experience the 16-minute masterpiece 7empest about a week before Covid hit.
It's always hilarious to watch people bob heads to changing time signatures and their reaction when they realize something's wrong ;). Welcome to tool, so much to learn and experience

Paiste cymbals made a drumkit for Danny. The metal shells are made of melted down cymbals. He's a big jazz/fusion fan, so some old school jazz guys(Cobham?) donated a cymbal. So it's like he has a piece of his heroes with him all the time.
you're obviously a musical guy, this would be a challenge to play for anyone. they are one of the best to ever do it!

This is such an amazing live performance , when I hear the album version of this song , it just seems like it’s lacking something in comparison.

One of the things I like about Tool is that there aren’t usually instrument solos. It’s something that annoys me about a lot of harder rock/ metal. I like when all the instruments (including the vocals) are working together for the greater good of the song, and not trying to outshine the rest. No flashy solos, instead a true collaboration. That’s why I feel like Tool is so good. Each member is gifted at their particular instrument, but confident enough in their own abilities to not need to show off. I like my music like I like my economic systems, communist.

The most Mind Blowing Drummer I know of is Rick Allen from Def Leppard who kept playing with the band after losing an arm. I highly recommend checking out "Pour Some Sugar On Me".
I love Rick Allen. A notable drummer especially overcoming a major adversity.
