  • We continue the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route on days 3 and 4 of our trip that we started in Jasper. We receive a little trail magic including place to pitch our tent and drinks. We restock in Nordegg preparing for 4 days off grid and struggle on some hilly washboard roads. Just part of the adventure :)

Liz's New and Improved Saddle Sore Prevention System: (Not sponsored, just really like :)
-Saddle: Brooks Saddles: Flyer S Bicycle Saddle (Women's): amzn.to/3T2SrrG (If I could do it again I would probably opt for the one without the springs though because they do tend to squeak, but it does work well)
    - Saddle Rain Cover: amzn.to/3T185nh (you will need this as the leather saddle can get damaged if rained on)
-Saddle proofhide: amzn.to/3RZOIKj (used to condition saddle and helps it break in faster)
-Bike Liners: Terry Aria Bike Liners: amzn.to/3rOJcQ (absolutely love the comfort and quick dry aspect of these)
-Less miles your first few days :)

Just so you know, biodegradable soap doesn’t degrade in the water. It is important to wash away from the water source. Check out Sea to Summit kitchen sink, and pocket shower. Super handy.

Great video, beautiful scenery, and one unfriendly pickup driver...oh well. I've known a lot of people who fight the saddle-sore battle. Sit bone width is a thing. I wonder how many of them have measured their sit bones and matched with their saddle width? I look forward to your next video!

Thank you! Yeah, we didn’t even know sit bone width was an important thing until we walked into a bike shop and they measured me on a machine and said my sit bones are a lot wider than what comes on the standard saddles.

Great job! Have you looked into Liz's seat height? She looks to be a little low, but could just be perception with the saddlebag. Would love to do an adventure like this some day!

Thanks! We’ve made some adjustments to Liz’s seat it seemed about right, but it probably wouldn’t hurt to go up a little bit. Hope you get a chance to go on an adventure!

That’s not a bad idea. The alternative that I have heard some people do is the Icefields Parkway instead which is so beautiful, the only issue is that it is along a busy highway the whole time.

10:20 i would say its not a bad thing
also, "wildlife" in face of bears is probably not used to sound of bike (freehub sounds, etc).

thanks for the video. Going to hit Kalispell > Jackson WY June 2023. Question - did you use a dedicated GPS unit for route or is that your phone using an app (Ride with GPS?) mounted with that Quad lock thingie? Thx!

Great question, it took me sometime to figure this out. I used my phone mounted with a Thule Mount that felt very secure and I had no issues with it. I wanted to get the Quadlock, but it was a bit to expensive
