  • Thanks to M+D Crutches for sending me this pair to try. Here's my review!
    PROS
    -Stable design, solid feeling
    -Takes weight off wrists
    -Clever buttons to free hands
    -Ability to RENT a pair for short term use
    CONS
    -They are pretty big, both in appearance and actual size
    -Not heavy, but not especially light weight, either
    BOTTOM LINE: As a long-term crutch user who plays sports and such on my crutches, these wouldn't be my choice for everyday crutches because I don't need the stability or wrists relief right now. These are a great choice for someone with wrists pain OR a short term crutch user looking for a pair to rent for a few weeks or months.

    Those are so cool though like the STABILITY and the fact that you can RENT THEM like wow. Really really interesting design. I'm in love with people making mobility aids and accessibility like actually useful and thoughtful and not just an afterthough of "oh sometimes some people need something so we'll slap two sticks together and they can hop" like this is design actually consulting with the people who would be using it. Makes my heart happy

    My sister just busted her knee, and I was looking into getting a crutch that was not the typical kind. Saw these on Amazon ( significantly more expensive than other products other there) but I liked the idea of having the entire forearm to move. This video helped me understand how to explain it to her when we get it. Thank you.

    From what I can see on the website and from you talking about them, the standard "ice pic tip" doesn't seem to work on them. And having those rolling tips will work really good, unless you are walking on ice and snow. It should in my opinion as someone who lives in a colder climate be put on the cons list. Maybe the company has something accessorise that comes with but in that case why not have that as one of the selling points. Otherwise they seems like really good crutches.

      Definitely! I was thinking the same thing, that the shape doesn't seem like it would work with my ice spikes

    I wish there was a place to try these as they seem pretty interesting. I just went for some basic ones with a soft silicone pad thing for my hand and all my hand/wrist pain went away pretty quickly. Well over a year later only thing I've had to change is the bottom rubber bit because it just got so worn down and add ice spikes in winter because ice and crutches without ice spikes are not a fun combo. Even better is ice spikes plus those little non slip things for shoes with spikes on them along with the ones on my crutches for like two layers of hopefully not gonna fall down.

    Would be great if the company ever responded to emails..... I would purchase a pair of two, but can't get an answer as to when any replacement parts will be restocked. I don't want to spend a lot of money, and then have no possible replacement parts..... And EVERYTHING is out of stock on the website except full pairs....

    Ohhhhhhh. The entire time, I thought you were saying, "Four-arm crutches." And your motion was indicating that there are four points where the weight is being distributed (both elbows, both wrists). And somehow the last time you said the word, it clicked. And I felt silly. Because duh.

    • @sarah_chalk
      @sarah_chalk 3 года назад +1

      They are actually “Forearm” Crutches, as the cuffs, which are the leverage point, are on your forearms 😊

    • @6000countingdown
      @6000countingdown 3 года назад +1

      @@sarah_chalk Yeah, it clicked for me the last time he used the word. Brain like a snail, this one. But what's life without having a laugh at yourself every so often, eh?

      @@6000countingdown I am rereading your comment again, and I now realize that I 100% misread it every time before; I sincerely apologize!!!!! If anyone’s brain is like snail here, it is clearly mine!
      Your ‘four points of contact’ explanation is actually quite genius! And something that I don’t think I’ve ever given any thought to, as a forearm crutch user myself! Outside the box, yet extraordinarily sound - the world needs more of that!
      Again, I apologize for misreading!

    I use crutches as my main mobility apparatus, (RAKA 35 y) or I hop on one leg. I have smart crutches, they too can be put in 90 degrees mode but I use them full down, its still 30 degrees, so it alleviates some pressure off my wrists and they are comfortable. They look good on the website and are not that cheap but are not quality that you should expect. Either way, they are better than anything I can find available in my country (Croatia) you say that we live in crutches renaissance, please send me some link or manufacturer that I can buy in Europe. MD crutches are not for me, I need some durable stuff. that 90 degree is just too much. Add me on Twitter @RutKuv you cool, we can be friends.
