Way back in the late 90's, I was coaching football...youth, high school and arena football. My oldest son was only 5 so, he was too young to play but, he was a water boy for the teams. On his birthday, I organized a giant pizza party without him knowing it...had all of my players there to celebrate his birthday. That night, as I tucked him into bed (I was a single father), he looked at me and said "Dad, this is the greatest day of my life!" He's pushing thirty now and I still see his little face and hear his 5 year old voice saying that. Thanks for this song.
George is truly the King of Country Music. He just doesn’t have a bad song. His music is always heartfelt. I enjoy watching you both enjoy the music that I love.
I respectfully disagree. I love GS music, but he did unfortunately let Nashville push him into some bad songs- that “she thinks I like her cat” song comes to mind 🤣 old school George can’t be beat, and recently he’s released some great stuff- Troubadour, weight of the badge, sing one with Willie, etc, but some of that stuff in the middle made me afraid king George was slipping! Just one man’s opinion.
One of my favorites, I lost my dad to cancer and this song hits hard, but it makes me remember all the things we used to do and how much I wanted to be just like him, RIP Dad 10/15/12

the most underrated Strait song. My son loved to tent camp and I vividly remember him saying dad this is the best day of my life while we were sitting by a camp fire on the Cossatot River in southwest Arkansas
George Strait has enough great songs to keep you guys busy doing reactions for atleast another year!! Gotta check out "so much like my dad" "cowboys like us" or "marina del rey"
I have to say I George has gotten me through some times! My favorite artist of all time! The songs he chooses and the way he delivers is second to none!
Would love to see you react to George Strait's song "Baby Blue". It has never been confirmed but it has long been thought that Strait sang this song for his daughter, Jenifer, who died on June 25, 1986, at the age of 13, in an automobile accident

I'm very glad you apprecited it, B.J. This song is for us men. For those of us who are older, we remember and for those of us who are younger and just building a family, this is good advice in the raising of boys. There is nothing more important for your children than being there in their day to day lives because they will remember it all their lives even after we have gone.

BJ, all good points brother, even if we don't, in our own lives, have these types of personal stories, we still know the value in these moments. I can tell you two are good parents and your kids will have priceless memories because of what you've done for/with them!!
I've lived that life with my dad. Camping and fishing overnight. Buying my first car and totally rebuilding the engine just him and I. And then having him as my best man at my wedding. He taught me so much. I lost him in 08. I do miss him so. When my son came along I did the same thing with him. Camping out in the backyard, taking him fishing, rebuilding the engine with him in his old Firebird. He's not married yet. But hopefully I'll still be around for that. If I'm not, I'll still be watching and smiling .
I have a hard time holding back the tears when I listen to this song, 'cause I always think about my Daddy, the greatest man I ever had the privilege to know. He taught me everything I know about what it means to be a real man. Lord, I sure do miss him!

Some information about George Strait per Songfacts, George Strait enlisted in the United States Army in 1971. While stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii as a part of the 25th Infantry Division, he performed his first paying gig. Strait recalled to Billboard magazine: "I had auditioned with a group of guys and a girl. They called themselves the Country Kings. I played one gig with them, and I don't even remember how much they paid me. They thought I wasn't country enough, and let me go. That's really funny now, but it wasn't at the time. I didn't let it faze me much, though. I got another opportunity not long after that [in a band called Rambling Country], which became my Army gig until I got out." Strait was honorably discharged from the Army in 1975, after which he enrolled at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he graduated with a degree in agriculture. He signed a recording contract with MCA in February 1981. Strait released his first single for MCA Records in the spring of that year. Titled "Unwound", it climbed to #6 on the country chart.
More George! Try some old school- the chair, you look so good in love, if you’re thinking you want a stranger, all my exes live in Texas, nobody in his right minds. Etc.
My dad worked for nearly all his life in the hardware business. He and my mom's dad went into business and opened hardware store in our Hometown. It was so successful they ended up selling it to true value and both of them got really good jobs with corporate true value. My dad traveled all over Kansas Oklahoma Missouri and Arkansas helping people put in new true value hardware stores. He would help them plan the layout and what they should stock and the like. So my dad was good with tools. He built us a tree house when we were kids and yeah we slept in it several times. But looking back on it I should have been so much more appreciative of it. And I should have used it a lot more. It's funny how little things like that will come back to haunt you the most. I would give anything to be that age in a sleeping bag in that tree house in the middle of July.
Good song guys, but the volume on your voices and the music isn't even close. I turn up the volume for you, and then have to kick it up to 100 to hear the music. Can you equalize it a little more?
