Love the idea. $47.99 every year is kind of expensive though. It would also be more interesting if rewards were quantified based on time and/or difficulty. Like a person can get the same amount of points for brushing their teeth as going to the gym for an hour. Would be kind of interesting if studying and work related tasks boosted intellect, exercise boosted strength, and chores boosted willpower, etc. Then they could build a soical network where avatars with common goals and interests could compete and/or motivate each other. Right now this app is basically a dress up app with stats that have no meaningfulness to what you are actually doing in real life...
Actually, you can set the type (strength, perception, constitution or intelligence) of each task and automatically allocate attribute points depending on how often you do them. This is only possible in the mobile app at the moment.
Also, spending money is optional. Gems are only used for aesthetics and getting stuff faster and can also be won in challenges.

This review was better than most I’ve seen, but I’ve yet to watch one that actually explains the GAME part. Where is it? What’s it like? What are the stats for? Or is the entire “game” just that part where you check in and it damages a boss based on what you did that day?
You got it right, that is the game. Strength makes you do more damage to bosses, perception gives you more drops and gold, constitution makes you tanky, and intelligence makes you level up faster and gives you more mana.
Noooo you play with friends, outside of that don't think there's a game

Yeah that's the thing idk how it's useful since it doesn't remind you and there's no app band that displays the to do list or any portion of it. I'm so confused how is so highly rated

I think if I try this again I need wipe my character and start fresh, I learned early on of a class that was kind of OP, and it was easy to cheat and didn't help me improve that much

But wouldn’t you just be much more faster in game advance if you come up with super random stuff or just a ton of items to check off? There should be a sort of levelling that you can only receive 1000 e.g. experience a day and then proportionally it gets distributed among all tasks.
There isn’t much benefit to cheating yourself a bunch of stuff in. You aren’t competing against other people so it isn’t unfair either. Habitica is based on an honour system, you can use it however you want
Problem with habitica is that they don't have a good chart analysis
