Solid. The clap is throwing me off tho. It's more Lil Jon/Jazze Pha early 2000's era than it is 90's. (Usher-Yeah, Ciara-Goodies for reference.) There is a big difference to those of us who lived through both eras.
I get what you mean. Claps were used, but they were very often layered with a snare drum from the 808 kit (like in Kicking It by Xscape). Wasn't common for them to be used solo in a beat. Definitely started becoming more prominent in the 2000's.

I mean, I get that they sound corny. I feel that has more to do with them feeling so out of place in contemporary styles. When making this beat, they felt right at home!
I’ve done a video about my fav Kontakt banks for R&B a while back, but it’s mostly for contemporary R&B. Off the top off my head for modern rnb I recommend Cloud Supply, Glaze, Hybrid Keys, Analog Dreams, Noire, Vintage Keys Collection, The Gentlemen, Electric Sunburst Deluxe, Picked Acoustic, the factory Library, Evolution Modern Nylon and everything by The Phonoloop.
Neither. I prefer FL's piano roll over Logic's, any time of the week. But Logic has FL beat in terms of non-destructive audio editing, mixer workflow and a bunch of other stuff. I make my guitar beats exclusively in Logic, the rest in FL.
Other Vsts you can get for that 90s R&B sound is the Korg M1, Roland JV-1080, & the Roland D-50.
