In my lifetime I haven't heard a song so beautifully written
in a child’s eyes, a mother is a goddess... she can be glorious or terrible, benevolent or filled with wrath, but she commands love either way... i am convinced that this is the greatest power in the universe... because god could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers... and sometimes the strength of motherhood is greater than natural laws...
N.K. Jemisin, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms
This song is amazing.
Another song written for an artists mother that I find equally as beautiful is Nettie By Type O Negative. Different sounds obviously but lyrically just as beautiful.
Judith=anger, wing 1=acceptance, wing 2=understanding. nailed it on the head with the stages of grief
When you said you could probably play this for one of your hood homies and they would like it... that resonated with me.
It's not about the genre of music but the intellectual stimulation and appeal that transcends all of us. The depth and substance of the lyrical content combined with the music taking you on a journey rather than just being a background noise for lyrics to layover is the reason that I have a hard time listening to other bands now.
Me too...I listen to edm and dance when I am in the mood..like my old skool rap and rock from the 90s...but 90% of the time I am listening to tool or watching other people listen to tool lol
Victor, I see at 19:15 you felt it, the resonance of the song and how it related to your own life. TOOL working as a tool even when they don't know it.. Your lip quivered, I felt the same impact. Your guys reaction was great, and 2 perspectives was fun to listen to. Keep it up during this weird pandemic time!
Thnx. Great video. Cried for the 10000th time listening to this song 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! - V
More love to all the artwork. Amazing
Suggest more tool..........all of it. The whole catalog
💯🤘
Love the breakdown and analysis.
Interesting thoughts about the lyrics “Listen to the tale and romanticize
How we’d follow the path of the hero”
I always understood that as Maynard saying -Listen to what I’m about to say and focus. Imagine a person this perfect and holy. She is the hero of this story.
I always heard it as kind of mocking. Like... "y'all listen to the tales and romanticize... but in reality you've had it easy, and as soon as the shit hits the fan you'll reveal yourselves to be the hypocrites you really are, while my mother can hold her head high because she kept her faith even when the worst possible thing happened to her." And it's doubly impactful because he's an atheist, so he really is looking at it through the eyes of a realist. "My mother is what you all pretend to be, or maybe even wish you could be..."
@@cormyat07 I basically agree completely. Listen the tales and romanticize i feel like refers to the Bible stories about all these 'mythical" people and how amazing they were, but wait, check out this chick, she was the real fucking deal "they only read about"
i interpreted it as we as a society nowadays love to call everyone a hero. be they cops, firefighters, soldiers, nurses, teachers, pilots, emt's, baristas, whatever. we hero worship people too easily and often. despite that, here is a true hero...
Grief and regret can consume you. But remember to cherish them and never allow sorrow to tarnish memories of the love and life they shared with everybody changed just by knowing them. Peace
You two are the best reactor's on RUclips. I couldn't wait to see this one.✌
Really appreciate that, thanks for watching! - V
This song resonates with me now, on the other side of grief than it ever did before.
Thank you for your insight about the stages of grief. This song must have hurt incredibly to create and play, but all of us get some catharsis and relief from hearing it.
"Fetch me the Spirit, the Son and the Father, tell them their pillar of faith has ascended!" The song triumphant and defiant and helps loosen the fear and loneliness that death holds over us.
Absolutely... Beyond just the emotional aspect of the track there's so much you can take from the message(s) it makes it amazing to listen to multiple times over.
Thanks for watching! - V
As always loved the reaction, loved the conversation and discussion afterwards as well. And of course love toll and these are two powerful songs to discuss. I'm sorry for your loss you were going through at this time. But another great video fellas 🤘🏻
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video 💯🤘 we appreciate the support! - V
Enjoy boys Tool army!!welcome
Oh that bass and drums....
Badass. Glad y’all did these tracks. I’ve recommended it before, but I’ll do it once more. Y’all should check out The Mars Volta-Meccamputechture. My favorite band is Tool, and they definitely seem to rank high on your list too. It took me a long time to find a few bands that sorta scratched that itch other than Tool. In the last few years I’ve discovered Anekdoten, Opeth, The Mars Volta, Defheaven, and Haken, to name a few. They’re all insanely good and you should definitely check em all out. But of them, TMV really holds my attention. Now...they’re different. They don’t really sound “metally” but often the lyrics betray their creative and more metal side. There’s a lot going on to appreciate there, and while I dig all their music less their last album, meccamputechture is definitely my favorite (by a little) over Tetragrammaton, take the veil, roulette dares, and a few more. It’ll definitely be a journey regardless of how y’all ultimately feel about it. Also...try Old Forester 1920. It’s the best. Wild turkey is my go-to when I’m poor...if I have a few extra bones I get the 1920. You’ll thank me later.
Hell yeah, I've heard good things about old forester, will definitely be grabbing a bottle when budget is less of an issue.
I got you... That track is on the list, we're just working our way down to it - actually we should be getting close to it.
Thanks for your support and the info, we appreciate it 💯! - V
An absolutely beautiful song for a son to remember his mother I honestly can't imagine how hard this must have been for Maynard nevertheless a brilliant and beautiful peice of music of art and the soul really and something I believe anyone of any faith or any nationality can maybe appreciate and connect with
To see it live back in the day was mind blowing.
Excellent. Do you have the link to that video?
So well done boys....keep up the great work!
Thanks, we appreciate your support 💯! - V
Wing beats that is what I think (at the beginning & the end)

Drunk,always!AAA
Genre has nothing to do with Tool.
Every song in every genre has time frames, lyrics and visual aids! It's just that Tool's will have your attention regardless of your favorite type of music
Tool's musical genre is..... "Tool"
💯 Hell yeah
Thanks for watching! - V
Descending react please
About 3 minutes in, I said out loud “oh my god just stfu”. Nice try guys.
It's a bit uncomfortable to rock out to a track you know is about the singer's long-suffering mother's death. :/ But fantastic nonetheless...great reaction.
And I'm STILL laughing from your five min and 44 seconds Jambi timestamp ruclips.net/video/Yswf3TeI-Fo/видео.html , weeks later. Thanks for that, Jambi is my favorite Tool song.
Yeah, definetly adds an element of confliction. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Lol yeah like you probably saw in the video my brother was super excited to catch that drop as well, which definitely added to his energy there.
Thanks for watching! - V
A lot of the lyrics are wrong
