Porsche planned to run a one-make race series featuring all 1992 911 Carrera Cup USA cars, which were to have more powerful engines, and chassis upgrades and was converted into full-on race cars. This is one of the 45 Carrera Cup USA racers that was converted back to road use.
This one, in particular, was a “port car,” which means it received most, but not all, of the race car modifications, and was never raced before it was converted back into a street car. Find out Manny Alban’s impressions of this legendary Porsche in this One-Mile Review!
    ÜnStock Modifications:
    Moton suspension
    Aftermarket exhaust with dual outlets
Numeric short shifter with Golden Rod
    Lightweight lithium-ion Antigravity Battery

Thank you for the kind words. It's always a dream come true to drive cars that you only see in videos or magazines. I used to race against these cars in PCA Club Racing. There's nothing quite as special as a factory built racecar.

I drove this car the day before the review (thanks Carmelo!). It was the most fun 964 I have ever driven, Fantastic shifter, very peppy engine and pretty darn light for a street car. Moton suspension was icing on the cake. Really a special car.

I used to to have to try to beat this cars in early PCA Club Racing - they were a challenge to go up against in a G Body 911!

Someday, someday...I'd love to have either a 964 RS or one of these.

There's a lot of junk comments here from folks that pretends to be an expert on these cars so before making a comment that creates confusion i suggest what Kecho (also owner of a pristine Cup) said read on Carrera Cup USA Registry. This car is a 1992 Carrera Cup USA (not an RS,NGT,RSCS,etc..) 1 of 45 ever made for the defunct 92 Cup Series. She is 1 of 4 Andial "Parts Car". Previous owner added a Moton Club Sport susp and converted to dual exhaust . Current owner also enhanced the driving experience by adding a Numeric short shifter with Golden Rod plus an Anti Gravity battery. 100% RVDE (real visceral driving experience) guaranteed!

So, not really a Factory original car. A long way from a genuine Cup car and not a genuine RS or RSCS/NGT …. But it has an interesting back story.. Thanks for posting.

Correct. Factory race car but modified from how it would have run in the series. They are fascinating cars in that there’s different opinions on how many were and we’re not converted by Andial as well as how many were returned to street specs.

Dude. It was a “cup” car that was never raced. That’s pretty rare and a super interesting story for this car.

@@jmpm3 it’s a nice car - but not to be confused with a genuine Factory Cup/Supercup car. It was a road car (supposedly a RS - but without many of the lightweight RS components eg aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid, lighter bumpers and glass, etc (and I wonder why that was)) and converted to a race car by Andial (not the Factory in Weissach, where real Cup cars were built). Andial was a very successful and well known company in the US back in the day - but they were not Porsche, even if approached by PMNA to build these cars. So, how would a collector categorise and value this car? As it is now, converted back to a road car, it’s not a genuine Cup car or even (a highly coveted and collectable) Euro-spec RS … It’s something in between a standard Carrera 2 and a RS or maybe a Cup. Hence, my initial remark. Interesting backstory though and, I’m sure, fun to drive.
