- I'm excited to share my recent finds from various LA thrift stores and the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I also have few finds I've collected over the past couple of months from Bay Area thrift stores. I share my thoughts on LA thrifting relative to my experience in the Bay Area. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you for watching.

Melba!!! My family & friends get so mad at me that I find very expensive items for my home from thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace!!! I won't pay "full price" for any thing!!! I love going to million dollars mansion to buy furniture & home decor and office furniture. I tell my children that"It doesn't matter how much you paid for something. I'll always end up at a thrift store or second-hand market!!! I truly enjoy your segments!!! Continue shopping!!!!

@@MelbaMakes 1 and 2 would be my vote! Personally I’m also interested in finding quality items from local makers and artisans- it’s been tough to know where to find items besides at one-off pop-ups and fairs.

I love Waterford! That was an unbelievable price. I always wanted Waterford and couldn’t afford it. About 7 years ago we stopped at a estate sale and they have Waterford wine glasses, 2 of them. I made a comment of how beautiful they were. The lady told me 7.50 foot north since it was at the end of the sale. She also told me to start collecting them her and there. They were the labor pattern. The most popular pattern out there. Well many years later and I have a full set. I love them and use them all the time. She was right. The most I ever bought at one time was 6 pieces. Best price was this past summer at a garage sale 3 for $2. I was so surprised.

You have an amazing ability to be patient and deliberate with your selections! You will get great use from all the items you purchased. It's fun to shop vicariously with you. Years ago, I'd look at a catalog, turn down the page on many appealing items, then put it aside. A few days later, I'd recycle the catalog and would have had my shopping "fix" without spending a dime. I think your patience and deliberation are wonderful tools, and you won't end up with a home full of tchotchkes or useless items.
The white serving platters are identical to those you can find at Costco. I bought mine for three of different sizes for $12. Thrifting is tricky in LA--not everything is a bargain. A lot of them will have days where they mark things down 50% or if things stay long enough, they get marked down. The Council shops often have really nice merchanize and clothing and have multiple locations. I also like Assistance League in Santa Monica.

I have Duralex drinking glasses in four sizes. I pared down to just four of each size. I’ve used them daily for many years. It pays to buy quality for the everyday items too.
I agree! And I pick up the Duralex cups for my mom whenever I see them even if it’s just one here and there in the sizes she has 😊 I’m glad to know they have lasted you many years!

YES on a Waterford video. I believe the water goblets you purchased are a discontinued pattern called “Powers Court” so stunning !!! Please let me know if I’m wrong on the pattern- it is gorgeous. 🩷💚

Yes that is the original one started in I believe 1924. They have an annual sales day where they pull all the good stuff out. Very high end!!
Funny story my wife and I were looking for a new sofa and we went to a lot of stores to find the right one. Ended up at a used furniture store and found an Ethan Allen sofa. It needed to be recovered so we had it reupholstered. You just can't find well made furniture anymore. My view is buy good quality it should last forever.

For the beautiful glass container, you could use it to store those long sugar/sweetener packets (not the rectangles, but the ones that look like a stick) for when you have coffee/tea during dinner parties.
That would be *very* fancy “Please, take a sugar” as I remove the lid sparkling in the sun ✨ lol I like it 🙌🏽

It was fun shopping with you! I can't imagine going to the Rose Bowl shopping, too overwhelming for me. You have such great taste and style. Yes, would love to see your Waterford collection. For the glass containers, find a clear gasket to fit around the lid or use a thick rubber band to help cushion it when you replace the lid.

Can't be positive, but I think I own the two-tiered server that the C&B white serving platters are from... 😂 As soon as I saw them I recognized them. They are so versatile!
