@@jacobbaradaeus6250We should all support the World Council of Arameans in their efforts to have an Aramean nation. Already they have an observer status in UN. If Israel can become a nation after so many centuries in exile why not an Aramean nation for the Orthodox christians. Remember that the present day Turkiye, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan , Lebanon were almost 100 % christian once. Let us all start praying for the Aramean nation and also give publicity for the same.

I am impressed by these people. I understand the language to a large extent, so memorising is easier, but for these they have memorised the prayers and chant this beautifully in faith like angels, while speaking a completely different language. They have managed to keep the Antiochene practice of the whole congregation responding, which our churches have struggled with post genocide. God bless our brothers and sisters in India, may the church prosper and spread her wings all over India so they may be saved!

It is not a holy ‘mass’. It is a Holy Qurbono/Qurbana. That is, a Holy Sacrifice. Holy Sacrifice is the proper term. Divine Liturgy or Holy Eucharist are both acceptable. Holy ‘Mass’ is not.
Mass, comes from the Latin ‘Missal’, that is Dismissal. A Holy ‘Mass’ literally means Holy Dismissal. No, thanks. Let the Latins keep their strange terminologies and ways.

Church of India was colonized by the Roman (Latin) Catholic church and brought under the Roman/Latin Pope with the support of the Portughese in the 15th century. Part of the Malankara Church threw away this Roman/Latin yoke and came into communion with the west Syriac Orthodox Church around 1653; the other part continued to be under the Roman/Lain yoke till they gained limited autonomy as a sui juris church in 1992. However even today their ethos is primarily Latin (rosary, statues, curifixes, sacred heart, 40 hour adorations, revelations of fatima, lourde etc) especially in their Major-Archdiocese of Ernakulam/Angamaly.
It is true that immediately prior to Roman colonization, the liturgical traditions in Malankara was East Syriac. There is no doubt about that. We are not sure about the liturgical practices in the first 1000 years of Christianity in India.
There is some indication that there could have been a west Syriac presence in the AD 600s . The Archives of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria has documented proof about an Indian priest, unable to go to the Patriarch of Antioch (by that time Muslim conquest had already occurred) ; alternatively approaching the Coptic Patriarch for episcopal ordination. The Patriarch of Alexandria ordained him as Bishop for India in AD 695. The Coptic Orthodox Church was in communion only with the West Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch and was not in communion with the East Syriac Assyrian Church of the East.

      What?????!!!!!!

_Indian Church was in communion with Oriental orthodox in 600AD!!!_ Then why doesn't Jacob Burddana of the Jacobite Church never noted the Church in India, reality is that he was unaware. He consecrated rebell bishops for all eparchies of the Church of the East and the Miaphysites even consecrated a rebell Catholicos in 628, but non for India!!!
_And Catholic Church in India formed only after Portugese_ !!!!!
Then who were Mar Abraham, Mar Joseph, Mar Denha, Mar Elia... and other bishops, they were all Catholics under Roman Pope. And Mar Abidisho Maran Patriarch was also Catholic. How can you say that they were Portugese!!!!
And if Portugese forced people into their Church then how did the majority came to them, how could they protect their liturgy till now??? If they used force then how did the Puthenkoottu faction got 32 churches out of 118 churches?? If they had protected liturgy, then why did they convert their liturgy after 1665 from Babilonian to Antiochene and faith from Chalcedonian to miaphysite non-Chalcedonian????
And during 1660s, it wasn't Portugese who were in power but Dutch. Portugese strongholds were limitted into regions of Goa and Pondicherry only.
And what about Council of Chalcedon!!! The Oriental orthodox doesn't accept it, but Church in Kerala did and does in Syro Malabar.
And Oriental orthodox in Kerala are Puthenkoottu who are actually power greedy people established in 1665 under Archdeacon Thoma and Abdul Jaleel bishop. They haven't stopped their greed for power and property till now. It is evident from Church fight in Kerala. *SHAME* !!!

So all the laity might be facing problem in this service . i agree with you it may be difficult to understand to those people regularly coming to the church in the middle and stand silently without active participation . Even by hearing today this video i have nostalgia feelings . if it was like that for me what might be for the most of the people attended this service.Once a while those who want to attend or participate this is good . Syriac is originated from the aramaic language. Aramaics have existed since about 3500 BC and the language too but the letters came about a couple of hundred years later after Christs birth. Arabic is based from the aramaic letters and before arabic started to grow (after muhammads time and the quran was written) the arabic language was so weak they borrowed many words such as the name of the quran. Quran comes frm the word: Qerowo whoch means reading. About 1250 words in the quran are taken and used from the aramaic language

regarding the Syriac language..I haven't ever heard anyone make fun of the Jacobite church for the use of Syriac language. it's a beautiful language and given the chance to learn it I definitely would.
who says we don't adhere to the patriarch. we consider him our spiritual rather and pray for them in the first thubden.
a better way to put it is sovereignty of leadership under the spiritual guidance of the patriarch.
and regarding faith..we follow the same faith as the Jacobite church. if u believe we are leading believers astray then that speaks against both our faiths. instead of useless squabbling like this we should strive to bring more people to the true faith. god bless.
