Hey Ryno, thank you for this video and also recommending the Colors by Golden, soo many guys out there only recommended using Vallejo , but ur the only one who has suggested Golden make for painiting Classified line , thank you soo much
Thanks! Golden is quality acrylic paint. I saw a video of someone at Hasbro's paint dept. using it and reached out to her and she said that's what she uses. Golden matches a lot of base colors that Hasbro uses. It's easy to find, easy to get and is pretty durable.
Thank you! That's the first time I ever did a heavy wash on a figure. The worst case scenario, I could take it off, the best case scenario...is now on the shelf.
Dude! this was the video I needed to see--I've been preparing for a full re-paint of the Classified Gung Ho, but with a "colonial marines" via Aliens color scheme. Thanks for sharing your work/methods.
@@rynohobbies You took me to school with this video. I learned a lot, thank you for being so informative, and actually explaining what your going to do and what you’re doing, showing the paint labels and what tools you use. I think your videos are the best tutorial videos on RUclips when it comes to figure customization. You’re doing an awesome job brother.
You did a great job as you did with the previous 2. Was curious as to how you would go over the ab crunch with out getting any rub. Thanks for another great video
Thanks! There's no rub on the ab crunch since there is a gap between the bottom of the chest and the top of the ab section. I just did it in 2 stages for both the front and back of the figure. After I applied the wash and let it dry, I would bend it back and expose the plastic, apply wash, then bend it forward and apply wash to the back.
I was looking for a good content like this, glad I found it, I want to customize my frostbite, now I'm looking forward to seeing a snow camouflage painting, very good work
Thank you sir! I'm almost bummed that Hasbro didn't do shitty paint jobs on the others. I would love to do Beachhead and Firefly, but those are hard to come by.
Hi man, greetings, I have a question, do you have a video of how to paint beachead sweaters from green to black? Or how can I do, to do so? Thanks for further tips. And byw, do you know where I can do a 3d mold of a head (custom) to match in that figure? 😁
Hi Manuel! Thank you. I recently saw this video: ruclips.net/video/5OZ6bzQvARw/видео.html It dyes the plastic is you don't hav to paint. You might have to seal it before you prime and paint. The dye tends to seep through primer and paint. I usually go through Etsy for casts of heads. I hope that helps.
@@rynohobbies yes.! Thank you very much for the help.! I really appreciate it very much.! Upstanding job you do painting your figures.!!! Really awesome
So how do you prep and paint the soft plastic parts like the belt in the bandolier. Also the crotch piece? I’m having trouble with it. It seems like every time I paint them they always come out tacky and doesn’t dry.
I heat them up again, very carefully. I only heat the parts that have to interact with each other. I take a pipette and fill with hot water and drop water into the holes and only dip the post in hot water. I don't submerge the painted piece in water. I think the heat turns the clear coat foggy or in some case melts it away. I hope that helps.
Was looking up some vids on repaints and found this one. How do you paint the knee ratchets so that they don't chip off when moved? The little "gears" seem like they would chip the second you bend a joint.
Just watched this and great work. By any chance do you have an outline of how you did this? I'm checking for tips on how to recolor my own Duke figure. Thanks!
It's still good. I just used him recently when I took pics of him with General Hawk on instagram. I didn't rush the paint job or the varnish. I let each one cure before I added a new coat.
Great job on the repaint!! So did you wash the body before painting and priming parts to strip the manufacturers “sealer” or just disassemble and proceed with the process of repainting? Also did you water down the brown mix that became Dukes new shirt color or just mix the two paints? And one final question, when you stated you used the matte sealer and let it cure for a couple of days, did you brush it on, or did you airbrush it on?
Please do a Sigma 6 version one day (by the way I'm referring to you doing 8it with another version of this figure and recolor his outfit and have them match those colors)
Question.. did you need to sand down your figurine at all? I found my paint seems to just wipe right off on certain figures even if I do it a few times. Awesome job btw, looking to get my work as nice as this
Hi Gerald, I used Tamiya paint for the buttons. If you want to paint the whole belt, I would prime it first. I use Stynylrez primer, then whatever acrylic paint you want. I hope that helps.
Great video! Question - it looks like his pants are still textured just underneath his knee caps and aren't grooved at all to fit his metal shin guards over (like if you were to take off Snake Eyes chest straps and there's nothing actually molded underneath them - it's just grooved out to fit them in place). Do you think if you were to cut Duke's shin guards down to the top of his boot line that his legs would look any better or any worse without them covering his upper pant legs?
Removing the shin guards would make it look worse. The guards have a vertical pin / slot and a raised bevel. If you remove it you would have to file or fill that area. It wouldn't look good also because he would still have molded straps around the boots. If you don't want shin guards I would suggest swapping with Destro.

HASBOR should take note, your repaint should be the standard for Duke! 👍
Thank you! It was a challenge getting it exactly the way I wanted it.
I have never seen someone do such a heavy wash. It turned out awesome and can’t wait to try it myself. Thanks for making awesome videos for us!

Thank you! That's a great idea for Gung Ho.
It really turned out great.
Most excellent work mate. A much needed improvement !!
Superb video dude simply love it , thank for teaching how to customize, so basically hot water does it all
Thank you! Hot water has been doing the job for me. I never put a figure on the stove.
Love the color choices!
Thanks Edwin! I knew the green would be fine, the brown was a happy accident.
Much much better, a good paint job takes the figure to next level
He looks way better now! Awesome work!
Thank you! So far, it's my favorite.
Yes my man! That looks fantastical. I love that dark brown shirt with the green. Beautiful work
kickass video and great job to boot!!!!
Now that is a duke I'd happily buy.
Nice!, great work.
Duke looks phenomenal 👏
Excellent work!

He looks fantastic!! Solid job once again my friend!!!
Thank you Papa G! He was fun to do.

Now that's definitely Duke!!!!🙏🏿🙏🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks! I said the same thing, once I reassembled him.
Inspirational video bro. Thank you.
Thank you! I'm starting on another one soon.

Looks amazing dude!! Great job on that wash!!
Thanks J.P. ! The first time I did it on this figure it didn’t look like that. I’m glad I stuck with it.

Your Classified repaints are rad! Would be cool to transform a Cobra Infantry back to Trooper mode.
Can you do Gung ho next?
I think I will once the Valaverse declassified set comes in.
Dude. Do Flint please!
Did you spray the flat clear or brush it on?
I sprayed the flat clear coat with an airbrush.

Did you airbrush or paint by hand?
I applied washes by hand with a brush. I airbrushed sealer afterwards.
