- After my successful 30-day vegan challenge I decided to give you an in-depth look into this new meatless burger or vegan burger craze! I ordered five meatless burgers and a single beef one for comparison's sake. I will say these burgers are technically not vegan because I included cheese and the brioche bun but they are still vegetarian! I love cheese. Let me know if you've tried any of these!

Mike's opinion / These veggie burgers are far less healthy than normal beef, but just choose the quinoa one if you don't mind the grainy texture. / You'd only buy these if you hate eating animals, otherwise, there's no point.
(Plus, I believe they're a little more expensive from my own experience)

"Mouthfeel" is a 'technical' term in the food industry that is used quite distinctly from "texture". Texture is a physical property of a food and generally refers to things like its softness, crunchiness, lumpiness, etc; whereas mouthfeel is the sensations (other than taste) that the food imparts to the mouth. A food's mouthfeel is indeed largely impacted by its texture, but other factors such as moisture or oil content can also affect the mouthfeel of a food.

Black bean burgers aren't meant to taste like burgers but they are meant for ppl like me and my family, life long vegetarians. We just wanted to feel normal at restaurants with our friends and bean burgers really did that for me lol.

The idea behind veggie burgers is the health of the environment, not necessarily the health of the food itself. Factory farming takes up A LOT of land, A LOT of water and produces a whole lot of carbon emissions. In fact most of the crops produced in the US are for livestock and not people which is insane! The idea behind meatless burgers is to get people to be less reliant on factory farming by making a patty thats nearly identical to beef, its still a work in progress but they are making headway. I did a poll on fb and asked people “If there was a meatless alternative to beef that tastes, smelt and felt EXACTLY like beef would you move to a meatless burger?” A lot of them agreed but no one was talking about health benefits or side effects. Like i side the whole basis if these companies like beyond meat wasn’t to make something healthier for our bodies, but to make something healthier for the environment all together.

I had made once a burger with a portobello mushroom instead of meat since I didn't know what to do with those mushrooms, and it was delicious. Of course it didn't taste even close to a meat burger, but as long as you don't expect meat you can make something really good.
What these are trying to do is imitate meat, I have tried the beyond burger, it's good (tastes like peanuts/ mixed nuts) but if you expect them to taste like meat you'll just be disappointed and not eat them again
Everybody treats those "substitutes" like they should taste exactly like meat. For me that's just not true. The only thing important to me is flavour. If it tastes good I like it

theresa g5u I personally just don’t like the idea of “tricking” by association. Like hearing the term “vegan bacon” tried some.. fried carrot.. why not just market it as that? I don’t need to be told it’s near exclusively “vegan” but maybe that a food is “vegan friendly” for those I know who are or maybe lactose intolerant. “Vegan meat” just call it what it is.. label it as “vegan friendly” and it won’t feel cheapened.

As a vegetarian, I actually like the burgers that DON'T taste like meat. But thanks for the nutrition comparison -- first time I've seen them lined up that way on RUclips with all these Beyond Meat and Impossible Burger reviews :)
Probiably either becouse the meat you at before was cheap, or it's just a psychological thing. Like when you enjoy food more when you know it's healthy. But again, everyones got their taste.

What's unhealthy about a burger?
That's just it though - It's not a healthier alternative, it doesn't help the environment (ground beef is a byproduct of the steak, roast & dairy industries), it doesn't compete with even the worst beef burger from a flavor standpoint, and it's significantly more expensive than ground beef. If I'm walking away from ground beef, I'm going portobello caps; they are healthier, have an amazing umami kick & satiating qualities, are cheaper and have a unique flavor, not an imitation flavor.
Don't take this as an attack, eat what you like, but I'm not seeing a reason for me to go for impossible/beyond burgers when compared to ground beef; especially considering the frequency with which I indulge in burgers.

Loved this review. Was a veggie for over a decade. Never regained taste back for beef or pork. I do miss the feel of eating a buger. So, looks like theres hope yet.
I really appreciate the open mindedness in this video. As a vegetarian, I’m kind of annoyed when people judge the meat-like burgers for not being super healthy. There’s a difference between a plant-based burger and a veggie burger. First of all, the plant-based burger (like Beyond, Sol, or Impossible) is meant to imitate a typical fast food burger (which is NOT a health food either). The veggie burgers are meant to be healthy, heartier vegetable patties. So they’re MEANT to taste like that.

J.H. Miretskay You’re talking about the ideal meat burger. Organic, high quality, grass fed sorta deal. I said “typical fast food burger”, which is what you think of when you think unhealthy. You don’t go on a diet and eat McDonalds.
You can be vegan and just eat bunches of pasta and french fries and be pretty unhealthy. The deal is trying to not kill animals, independently of the healthy quality of your food or the taste, but of course everyone will be seeking good tasting options as our brain would tells us that's what we need to survive, more tasty, more calories.
@@j.h.miretskay3430 Well meat regardless of where it comes from is high in saturated fat and cholesterol, so it's not necessarily healthy especially if eaten frequently, even Dr. Mike said reducing your meat consumption and having a plant focused diet is healthier. And the research backs this up.
You don't have to eliminate meat completely, but reducing your consumption of it is both good for you and the environment.

I'm not a vegan but I make some vegetarian and vegan foods as we have an organic co-op. We like to eat veggies in season, so when summer rolls around, veggie burgers are awesome. Also, no need to too much salt. The point is to enjoy the flavour of the veggies. Throw in a little fun, like some spicy pepper for added flavour. That ups your vit. C and doesn't hurt your heart.
The malliard reaction on the patty is profound, the crust is concussive and is the platonic ideal.

I am big fan of vegetable burgers, but not a vegan. I like a restaurant in Germany called "Hans im Glück" that has a nice variation that doesn´t try to taste like beef, but to taste GOOD.
They have also beef burgers btw.
But I also haven´t tasted the Quinoa burger, they don´t have that burger there.

Bean burgers can be so hit and miss. The fact you rated it 2/5 stars, makes me question if that was a decent bean burger or not. I think ultimately the best bean burgers are when they do a southwest vibe to them. It will generally be just a tad bit spicy but so good.
Ive bought them in a pack before. Sure it wasnt more homemade. But it was terrible

Natalie Taylor a RUclipsr Made a video about a certain model (I can't recall her name) about how she got one eye changed to blue permanently so she could keep faking that she has Heteracromia and she also discussed about Bright Ocular and how it's very dangerous! Bright Ocular is the Definition of fake advertisement, because it doesn't tell you that you will most likely lose your sight, it makes it look like it's a great thing to do! Smh😯😐
