The fact that THE LEAD SINGER of Devo (Mike Mothersbaugh) said that Al's, "Dare To Be Stupid" is more Devo than the actual band is the reason their war is unrelenting.
Al’s originals done in the style of an artist are always my favorite things on the album. His take on They Might Be Giants, ‘Everything You Know Is Wrong’ is another one that utterly and completely nails it. He managed to capture what’s genius about their music, while also winking at how needlessly complex (yet wonderful) John Linnell’s chord progressions sometimes are. The fact that Al is even capable of writing a chord progression that good yet ridiculous, shows what a great songwriter he is in general. Dare to Be Stupid was an incredible homage to the album Oh No It’s Devo, and Mark Mothersbaugh is right, Al nailed it!
