TAS Racing boss Hector Neill talks about the famous ploy they pulled together at the Isle of Man TT against Honda & how Joey helped Graham Crosby win the championship.
Ole’ Hector ! At the 2015 TT Me and my mates took my old HMV wind up gramophone to the Taz workshop tent and we set it up in the tent and played an old 78 George Formby record ‘ Riding at the TT Races’….what a laugh, Hector loved it !
@@W11LYK Michael might take his record for TT wins. But Joey was unique. He went right to the top of his apart, but was a model of humility. He took van loads of humanitarian aid to Romanian orphanages every year but never even sought publicity. As one aid worker said. He slept in his van in freezing conditions and sat with the orphans eating corn beef and baked beans. In that respect we will never see his likes. He was just a very decent human being.
@@WHU63 I’ve been to the bar and the memorial mate I live in Northern Ireland. I’m no far from ballymoney. Truly one of a kind. Often copied never equal as the man says. Yeah as you say he drove from ballymoney to Talin. I remember Stephen Davison saying on the day of joeys accident he refused to stay in the hotel that was provided for him. 5 time world champion slept across the front seats of his van on his very last night on earth. Truly remarkable man
Great story and absolutely true. What a lot of people didn’t know about Joey was he loved a good practical joke. I am sure he got great enjoyment out of pulling one over on the Honda boys. The only way they could stop him after that was to bring him onto the Honda team and as Hector said the rest is history.
Joey was truly one of a kind as was Robert William and Michael. Independent styles independent people. Same family different breed of animal on a bike 😎
I genuinely believe if DJ didn’t have his accident at Crosby he would’ve possibly taken over joey with wins. I’m from Northern Ireland and it pains me to say that but I think I could’ve been right
would like to see hectors take on david jeffries ,i know its a shorter story but no less intersting ,big Dave would still be knocking them out if he were still around x
There is one out there Vince if you type in TT lock in day one there’s a bit on TAS racing on how it started and the 2 years with DJ from 01 to 03 when David has his accident on the IOM
