That blower sure sounds like it's dying but at least the siren is still kicking good. I really enjoyed being able to experience an ACA Hurricane siren up close in person.
My god, they have got to lube that blower, I’m sure that’s all it needs. I understand the “run it ‘till it breaks” concept they’re doing, but that doesn’t mean they should let the damn thing explode.
While I'm sure it puts out a decent amount of volume, I can only imagine how much louder it would be when the blower is running wide open and proper. IIRC it is said that the blower has an approximante 450cfm output, pretty insane if you ask me. The Hurricane in the 2002 Garland Texas recording, which has the blower running healthy, gives off a very aggressive, buzzy, raspy tone, no doubt because that blower is throwing a very high amount of air through the chopper. I can't imagine it would be THAT difficult to service the blower, at the very least perhaps the belt might need to be looked at, and the blower might need some oiling.
To fix the blower issues They just need To put some new grease In the blower. the motor is working fine but the blower gets harder to rotate as the gears heat up and expand due to excessive friction from lack of lubricant causing the motor to slow down. Grease this baby up and it will run like new again!
Pretty sure this is the only hurricane that actually functions, as of now. Really hope they can get the blower fixed, this siren leads the hurricanes to live up to their name.
That blower has definitely got a lot of internal damage all these years. I wonder how long it will go for before it completely locks up and catastrophically fail.

How loud is the siren in person? Do I need to have hearing protection for when I get there?
I can mostly hear the blower of what it sounds like. They might have to take the blower from the factory and replace this blower with a fully functional hurricane blower so we will know what is truly sounds like
The only question now is... Who on earth will get this thing once it's taken down? Although they are in general low quality sirens, someone needs to preserve this one.
i wish I could go film this, but I live in Minnesota. And I don't have time to drive 4 and a half hours. By the time I would have gotten there, the blower would have finally kicked the bucket.
Two possibilities. One is misaligned bearings, and the other is that the bearings are worn enough or some other part of the blower case is warped enough that the rotors are making contact with the end plates, which is producing heat and heating up the rotors to cause them to expand, then make more friction. If run long enough like this, the blower will lock up. Either way, it needs to be removed and rebuilt.
Does anyone have a video of the insides of a Hurricane blower? I saw the Thunderbolt Roots blowers before, but I haven't seen the insides of a Hurricane blower.
