Embark on a global cultural journey into street food and discover the stories of the people who create the flavorful dishes.
I've seen all of the episodes. It was not just about street food, it was about the people, their resilience, love for their craft and the will to leave a good legacy. I cried a hundred times! Kudos to everyone who worked hard on this documentary.
Fantastic doc
@@cheezy0059 I cried so many times too, such a wonderful documentary
its honestly amazing
Each episode has a story to tell besides their amazing food dishes! I especially loved the Bangkok, Thailand and Osaka, Japan episodes! Jay Fai 72 years old woman that received a Michelin star for her cooking just Wow.! Or Toyo who is a lovely old joking guy with a sad past! I ve been to Japan (born in Tokio as a German) and India where my parents lived in Chennai Madras for 4 years but never in Thailand, Indonesia,, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines or even Singapore!
Besides this show on cooking, Netflix has some serious good cook shows in my opinion! " Chef s Table," Ugly Delicious ' " Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner" "A tale of two kitchens and'" Somebody feed Phil "!!
After watching all the episodes, I can say the episodes from the Philippines and Indonesia are just some of the most beautifully made documentaries I have ever watched. The lolo reminds me so much of my grandpa. Thank you Netflix x
i could'nt agree more.
First and last episodes are my favorites
So proud of our Asian /South East Asian /Indian subcontinent street food.
India needs to stop mixing things with their hands and be a little cleaner with their street food preparation IMO.
Imran Ali indian street food is sooo good.😍 i wanna try Vietnam street food..have heard so many good things about it.
@@KPai tradition or not it's disgusting. Their outside in the hot humid sun sweaty as fuck and then they mix your food by hand and I can guarantee they haven't washed their hands all day either. Your tradition needs to change lol sorry.
Indian subcontinent is part of Asia.
@@WadeGaffney
Dude look correctly in the the video he uses gloves to make street food
Even now I see more street food vendors started using gloves in locality
You need to know current situation before blabbering
Even low budget street food channel makes me hungry.. Imagine with netflix adaptation..
Low streed my baby xd
Oh god it can be bad (not well rip death note) or good but this seems legitimate awesome
@@mrobull yeah their live action anime sucks but this documentary is awesome
@@mrobull and it turns out, IT IS LEGITIMATELY AWESOME
you guys should just go to my channel no need for a $9.99 membership to view street food
Mbah satinem's story is very sad, but she lives happily now. Best ep of the series. Do more eps for indonesia's foods, gudeg, jajan pasar, bakso are just tip of the iceberg
yo i cried watching this teaser because how much sometimes we dont appreciate the street food sellers when they are gold
Pure goosebumps while watching this trailer. Direction, sound editing, screenplay and editing are on point, Looks ❤️
How did get screenplay from a trailer?
it IS as good as you would expect from the trailer.
Jai wolf's Indian summer is goosebumps 🔥🔥
Since my grandparents till now, we always buy lupis and tiwul from the old lady from Indonesia.. Just so happy that she's here ❤
you know that grandmother? kenal sama simbah nya?
Mbah satinem.. damn her jajan pasar is godly
@@write7700 Omg pls tell me where to find her exactly, keliatan nya enak bgttt
I love to travel, not travel you may think like goin abroad. Just goin around my neighbourhood. Looking for _a hidden gem_ like local street foods. They hold the authenticity of the culinary heritage. Some even hold until more than 5 generations and still goin for more, and they still hold their tradition.
And luckily, I stayed in Bandung, Indonesia 🇮🇩 there are lots of street foods around that maybe even for 10 years ahead, even I spend each day to taste each food won't be enough. There's so much to choose. In every corner of the street, back alleys, sometimes inside of a common house, that you won't recognise they sell food if you don't ask. They served the food with different time of the day. Some sell at the morning, some start after the work hours. And most of them sell at the night time, where people already get leisure at looking for dinner, or midnight food, to eat and hang out at the outside or take away.
And Netflix, thank you to create this video, it help them to introduce their foods for a marketplace at bigger scale.
👏😊
Lokasi wajib dishare nih
Tipe andalan ❤️ aku terlalu takut untuk muter2 sendiri 😂
@@hbudiman14 _share_ lokasi mah kadang relatif, Mas. Karena selera kadang beda-beda, apa yg menurut saya enak, orang lain enggak. 😄
@@ichieyamato _jangan ngikutin rasa takut_ 😊 I think Bandung is a nice and safe place to stay, ya dimana juga. Well, kadang ya insting juga gk ke daerah2 yg rawan.
Ikr. Indonesia is heaven for a street food fan like me. Each region has their own characteristics and flavours. And Bandung is one of must visit cities that offer those delicacies ❤
Everybody complains, that they missed some places/countries. "Chef's Table" got 5 seasons, so Im pretty sure that "Street food" will include other countries in next seasons :D
Mateusz Stenzel yes, you’re right. I hipe the do many many seasons of street food.
That's right. People just don't understand
Episode 4 from Indonesia is the best for me. I literally cried. Also, the Osaka one teaches you many life lessons.
I cried watching Osaka ep. Such a horrible past but Toyo san has a wonderful personality.
@@jonetsutrisno89 yeah mr.toyo put his family above everything else, even his future.
this is more than just a street food documentary! i have watched all the episodes...
its about common people who achieve in life after sacrificing a lot in their life..
and the shots in the documentary are just amazing
i love it
I have watched all of them. I'm Vietnamese and to me, the Vietnam episode was good enough but I would say the Indonesia episode is the most heartwarming and tear-jerking. A daughter, a wide, a mother, then a grandmother and most importantly, a preservationist of culinary heritage was beautifully depicted.
The Yogyakarta episode is so humbling. So pure and positive. Also from homeland, Philippine episode has all the feels. :)
Jed Christian Resurreccion true
So proud to be Thai. The documentary perfectly and accurately portrays our culinary, culture and people. Can't ask for more.
this made me emotional for some reason ? haha very excited to watch, especially philippines episode 🇵🇭 ❤️
Actually Cierra me too I was happy and almost to tears from how happy I was. So much love goes into the food.
it made you emotional because you remember how street food vendors are really the soul of any city.
I remember when that was true even for cities in California.
much of the character has left the now "gentrified" cities.
you will be disappointed with the philippine episode. they only featured island karendirya and cebuanu delicacies, it's not the real filipino streetfood.
@@paoloflores0824 Excuse me but what do you call Cebu? Not "real Filipino?"
I love Toyo from Osaka, Japan (Episode Two). His whole outlook on life is wonderful and charming as hell. "Be the head of a chicken, not the tail of a bull"
I said a similar thing to my former boss when i resigned, "id rather be the head of an anchovy, than the tail of a whale."
Woaaah that is very nice! I've ate Street Food in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and Japan during my trip in 2017 - 2018. It was incredibly good & cheap. I'd like to go back soon enough :-)
You missed India. Visit & experience the different types of food here.
Of course! It's def on my bucket list :-)
@@ShinzuMusic Okay. But remember this, India is a country of diversity, means each state is like different countries itself. What I'm saying is, it's different foods on different parts of the country. Unlike any other countries where you can experience food in single place, you can't experience the Indian cuisine in a single place.
I really loved this series. This not like others full of people's inflated ego and their horrible behavior towards beginners in professional life. This shows normal and yet, great people that make their lives of the cooking for others. Very inspiring! I really hope a season about Latin America!
You just got it!
the old man in the Japanese episode is SO PRECIOUS and must be PROTECTED and all time!!
Lol He's an angel.
Yaaa 😍
That episode made me cry. It is my favorite :')
Thai food always the best❤❤ I miss Thailand so much from España!!!! Quiero mucho ir a Tailandia!!!
@0:34 My parents reaction whenever someone asks them are they proud of me.
Now 0:33 is nice
Mbah satinem 😂😂😂😂
I just finished watchingthis amazing docu series. This isn't all about street food, it's all about being strong despite the hardships in life. Believing in yourself that whatever happens you will always find the strength to fulfill your goals in life. I am so proud of my Asian blood, my Filipino blood by watching this. Kudos to all the people behind this awesome docu series 💜
So proud to be a part of Asia, love food, love people, love atmosphere
Just started watching this. That lady in Thailand with the googles is awesome her passion and attitude made me tear up. The world needs more people like her.
Every episode is so heartwarming and so many of these are tear jerkers. I LOVE the people they've found and the way they've showcased the streetfood in each country. Its beautiful.
I agree, i dont usually love food documentary but this one is perfect the cinematography, the plot, the shoot. All just great and emotional!! Each episode never fail to touch my heart.
This made me emotional... I just remembered watching Anthony Bourdain and his food adventures. I remembered how much he loved street food and loved the Philippines! Really makes me miss home and the food I grew up eating surrounded by simple but yet the happiest people I know.
Nice concept by the way. Behind every flourishing empire, there is sacrifice involved in it.

I've been trying to figure this out all day. Thought it was odesza for some reason.
thank you!!! I've been trying to remember the songs name!

Thank You. Your comment helped me a lot.
I love this series! The featured person of each country was shown well, from their humble beginnings to their joyful success! Hope there could more documentaries like this in the future, Netflix! Please let there be Season 2!
I imagine Mr.Bourdain would have been very proud of this show.
RIP
YES PLEASE!!
MALAYSIA should be included too!!! We have such an amazing diversity in our street food scene from the different races and cultures!
😒
My Mom is a filipino Chinese and My Dad is Filipino italian i grow up eating Filipino , Chinese and italian food
Such a diversity of street foods this looks tasty and interesting at the same time...
Hi chef
This show is pure magic. It's real people with real lives who have overcome real struggles. And it makes you want to get on a plane immediately to go EAT and share a moment with these people.
Cebu episode made me proud. And, man... Seoul episode has so much soul 😭 I am where I am right now because of the most hardworking market vendors I know -my parents ❤️ This docu-series reflects their story.
I have to say this might be the best food show I've ever watched. The people and their stories - the directing - the music - just absolutely fantastic
Another series about food to get me addicted and even more being the same director of chef's table
Loved each success stories of each Asian representation. Living outside of the box could go a long way.

Indonesia comes with pure, simple, and humble dessert: "the legendary LOPIS" ...
thankyou Netflix, seeing this one coming from you, make me proud as Indonesian...
indonesia: lopis with brown sugar syrup and grated coconut...i'm guessing form yogyakarta! love it!
I've just watched the first episode of this series today, I'm sure I will love other episodes just as much. But I feel like Gordon Ramsay should meet the lady from Thailand. The passion she feels for food and her work ethic is incredible. Woman is 73 years old and cooks every single dish herself because she aims for perfection and the fact that she elevates street food to such levels and not only creates dishes herself, but also improves dishes which are a stable of Thai cousine is what granted her, a street vendor, a michelin star.
The track by Jai Wolf really made the trailer and epic one. It delivered a sense of oneness and familiarity. Really an awesome trailer, brought tears to my eyes.
I've watched all of the episodes. With my family in a netflix documentary marathon.
Watching this trailer made my cry again...
Dear God I'm so hungry now.😍😍😍😍😍
IKR!?
After you saw the rat @1:33
Yeah broo
JAI WOLF's song made this trailer 39203 times more epic!
Thanks, at last someone made a comment about the song, I've been searching on what is the Song title because I've been hearing the song on a lot of travel vlogs
NETFLIX PLEASE RETURN IT TO THE ORIGINAL SPOKEN LANGUAGE IN EACH EPISODE, PLEASE DON'T DUB IT AND ERASE THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE!!!!!!!!!!!
there's an Original Language option right there at the right side :) and also an English sub. HTH
Michael Ryan Pineda oh did they update it? 12 hours ago there was only the dubbed version
Michael Ryan Pineda thanks for letting me know :)
Best documentary I have ever seen , highly recommended. Feel good and inspiring
0:58 the transformation filled my eyes with waters.
it’s incredibly heartwarming to see Indonesian and South East Asian food get the spotlight it deserves
I have seen a few shows like this and while I can appreciate the food (it all looks delicious) my very favorite thing are the stories, their struggles, their history, how they succeeded when no one else thought they could. Then again, this isn't anything new, I've always had an interest in people's background and their history!
Street foods!!!! Authentic, delicious, heartfelt. Something that most of us can't experienced in fancy dinning plate.
Yeah Indonesian street food! Thank you Netflix!
lopis euyy...
This show is phenomenal. Only watched three episodes so far but the quality of it is just amazing. Particularly loved the Taiwan episode as it was beautifully shot, well-edited, and just perfectly tied together. Ugh simply amazing.
Yes! I really love that song Grace is singing. Do you perhaps know the title of that song? It's stuck in my head but can't find it anywhere tbh.
I'm proud that ur featuring the PH, but yo!!! Where's Malaysia's feature? Malaysia itself is the melting pot of street food. It should be in this film too.
Trish Alvarez take it or leave it they can’t include every country in asia.
futa✔️ then dont do the “Asians” if they can’t explore all asian
Hakim Ismail then don’t watch it if you don’t like how they didn’t include 48 fucking countries in asia wtf. Do you know how stupid you sound?
Hakim Ismail if u ever come across a street food video make sure to tell them to stop making videos because they didn’t make one on your country because of limitations and how long it is to film in 48 asian countries just to satisfy you.
Malayasia is a low tier asian country. They were cutting it close by adding Indonesia as well.
I started watching this tonight. this is the single best food doco I have EVER seen.
very interesting, well edited, and very moving as well.
the soul of any city can be judged by its street vendors.
if you watch this, you will learn why that is so.
do one for Mexico! 🇲🇽

saya suka Indonesian food. sedap dan enak!
ada lopis, nasgor, kwetieaw, magelangan. mantap!
Y’all better do one for Hong Kong their street food are amazing
FACTS
Would've been perfection. I'm wondering if China blocked HK from being a part of this series.
trefader32 wait can they do that? Cos that’s kinda... messed up. I mean it’s only a TV series no need to get political. But then again China is slowly trying to strip away Hong Kong’s culture in a way.
Hongkong is China. Chinese foods are famous for its taste. You don't say, bro.. You don't say...
Dzulfiqar Bagas Tito Hong Kong IS China. But Hong Kong also has a strong cultural sense that only Hong Kong has. The street food between Hong Kong and mainland China are very different.
...and I am not even done yet with Chef's Table! Huhu.
Fantastic roster, Netflix! Love your documentaries!
Jai Wolf’s- Indian Summer made the whole trailer!! Love love love
Thai, japan, and india was literally my fav !! I'm hoping to try their dishes esp the thai ones since I can't eat raw foods

Absolutely AMAZING series, one of the best I've ever seen. I will beg on my knees if I must for another season!
I LOVE food and I definitively love the street so this is perfect 😋
Im glad that Asian street food has become a thing. Its not only about food. Its about the people who made it & who eat it too. Still remember places in Vietnam where those aunts has known me & my family since i'm a kid. They asked me about school, remembered my preference, looked after me when my grandma went around the market to buy food. I didn't thing about it much cuz i think its obvious everywhere. But now living in Canada, i miss it so much. Last week i went to a banh mi place. Just an ordinary old place but the woman was so nice to me & she even gave me a small discount. I was so touched. Its feels like those days back in my childhood.
Thank you NETFLIX

I've been to Toyo's yatai in Osaka five times. The food is phenomenal and the entertainment is at the least, engaging. Toyo rocks!
The only trailer I can watch a thousand times. Love the whole series! Great cinematography and great research on each episode. It did not just feature the food itself but the people who made it - you could see their passion and pride in what they do. Truly inspiring and some scenes made me even tear up. I look forward to Season 2!
Anthony Bourdain would be proud!
Damn you hit me in the feels. RIP Tony B.
What a joy watching these people succeed starting from nothing. Watching this just wanna go there to meet them all and try everything 🌷
The Seoul episode was not only awesome because it showed the food and the culture of our people to the world, but also because I was very touched by the lady's story and how she created her business from scratch out of necessity to support her family. It reminded me of my mother who was an immigrant, started a new career and eventually a business after a divorce, and succeeded despite the setbacks just so that she could give me the life I live today. It really made me become more appreciative of my mother's sacrifices throughout her life. Thank you for such a great show!
I love this show so much. Please bring season 2!
