--------------------------------------------------
Working with mixed media using a variety of different paints. I work rapidly but build up the paintings in layers to make sketches that can be referenced in studio paintings.
Lewis Noble has lived and worked in Derbyshire since 1996. His focus lies in the physical and emotional impact of the landscape on the senses and the effect this experience has on us.
His paintings are not snapshots or photographic frozen moments but through repeated layering and eroding of the painted surface, they contain all of the time it takes to make them.
The result is a body of work that speaks to the heart of what it means to be part of the environment.

Lewis Noble: Worth his weight in gold ... and then some!!!
It's just lockdown weight!
your work is so wild and free and organic ! (and inspiring) i just LOVE it 💕
thank you for sharing your process : )
I would love to hear something about your mindset when you sketch, like how you are using your surroundings and translate that into what you paint.
I have learnt so much from watching you tear up and reconstruct your sketches, you have brought so much inspiration to my own arts practice, thanks for sharing Lewis!
Thanks Patrick!
Absolutely gorgeous!
I love the results of your art. Thankyou
Really enjoyable to watch and learn. I love your method!! 👍 😄 ❤️
Love your the interpretation of the landscape, considered but spontaneous. Good to see you back
Good to see you back in your natural environment!
wow
that last one was magical!
BRAVO
Thank you!
Great to see you out and about, the river brings back some great memories! Gorgeous light bouncing through the trees onto the river, really beautiful and yes you can see them on your painting,
Thanks Bron x
Really enjoyed watching your demonstration! It's encouraging to see you work with your controlled, yet reckless approach to painting. Keep going!
Very kind. :)
Good to see you back outside! I can hear the water flowing in your paintings today. Lovely!
Thank you.
Hey Lewis thanks for sharing this - always inspiring to see you working on pieces, and results the results. Stay well!
Thanks!
It's great to see you back - no rust on you - great work as always and throughly enjoyable. Congratulations on the successful fund raiser! Look forward to your next painting.
Thanks Richard
good to have you back!
hope youve been well
Thanks Jon.
november now and back in covide19 lockdown here in France so your video in june was uplifting, Your energie is infectious inspires me to do some sketching from the car.
Thanks, it's a tough year for sure. Keep well!
yay
I live in the AZ desert in the USA and no matter how far out into my back yard I go (which is about 600 acres of open desert) I find trash. It is beyond me too. Pristine beauty and they can't be bothered to take their trash out??? I feel ya! The place you are visiting here is so beautiful.
Infuriating isn’t it?!
@@LewisNobleArtist Indeed. I've learned to take a trash bag out with me now. I even see old mattresses and chairs out there in the strangest places, but the city won't go out there and do anything about it. So they just break down into little bits that the wind carries all over the place. It is definitely something that saddens one that loves the beauty of the earth. The older I get, the more I respect it.
Very nice
Great to see such wild abandon - your work and the landscape. Thanks for the video. I'll look for your work on #artistsupportpledge.
Thanks! Www.lewisnoble.co.uk for ASP
I used to paint like this. Ended up with undiagnosed Lyme. Mentioning it so wear bug spray and check for ticks.
Hope you picked up the rubbish before you left rather than leaving it there...? If those of us who feel strongly about such abuse to the country side just comment, rather than take action, are we not just as bad as those who leave it in the first place? Great video as always thank you so much for sharing! 🙏
Of course but I'm not sure not doing so makes you 'as bad'.
I can't find the video that you mentioned here that shows the contents of your painting kit. What is the name of the video or can you link it here? I'm amazed and inspired by your work practices. Thank you.
Thanks FAQ here >> ruclips.net/video/RnsWnxajI-A/видео.html
I prefer paynes grey to black. It gives a richer colour.
Hi I love seeing you paint but can I ask "when you are painting outside are you painting what you see or what you feel".
Just reacting to what I see.
What are those “woodies” you mentioned. I tried googling but I have probably spelt it wrong. Love your videos.
Stabilo woody. Thanks.
You can find the stabilo woodys on Amazon, that's where I got mine from.....they are great to use!!
Think they might be a carpenter flat wood and flat lead. Sharpen them with a knife. USA
Brilliant ! Love the setting your in , can I ask Lewis, are you ever tempted to paint a standard landscape ?
Maybe in the past but not now.
Lewis Noble Artist I’m aiming to be the same , your work is beautiful
Is it dry pastels you are using in the beginning? And by the way I am so happy for your video.... hi from Denmark 👍❤️🇩🇰
They’re water soluble. I go through the kit at the beginning of the video. Thanks!
Lewis Noble Artist "...... oh thank you - i was speeding over the beginning 😉😁👍
As I watch you paint, I am wondering if your marks are generated by what you are actually seeing with your eyes or are they being generated from your own intuition? If you say both, can you explain how that works? In short, what are you thinking about as you are painting?
Difficult to answer but definitely what I see. But painting in the landscape is much more than just using your eyes. The sketches are more about the whole experience of being outside.
so nice you dont have to worry about ticks, chiggers, venomous snakes and spiders.......or fire ants
Do you live in Mordor?!
please dont tear last one up
Already did. :)
Wish I knew what you are thinking whilst you paint. It is as if you just abandon yourself to some other mindset?
