Johnny Marr was the guitarist for the Smiths, he’s been a huge inspiration for me recently because he’s not flashy and really focuses on the sounds/arrangements. Personal favorite is probably The Headmaster Ritual for the guitar playing, but I feel like you guys would really like The Boy With The Thorn In His Side. For another artist I would suggest Echo and the Bunnymen, been really digging their stuff lately
For a chill fall playlist... 1. INTERPOL: the new 2. FOXYGEN: san francisco 3. THE DEARS: 22, the death of all the romance 4. THE STILLS: destroyer. For something less chill, but definitely playlist worthy...1. BAUHAUS: sanity assassin 2. GANG OF FOUR: what we all want 3: ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN: no dark things (from the live at royal albert hall album 1984) 4. THE CURE: a forest (live at werchter festival 1981)
the guitar was achieved with chorus, reverb and a lot of guitar tracks. that was johnny's signature thing, he'd layer guitars and do many different things on each track
You guys need to react to the Smith’s “How Soon Is Now”, the 1985 song that made them famous in the US. The guitar work in that song alone makes it worthy of a reaction video.
I always thought the “Caligula would have blushed” lyric referred to the fact that Morrissey was maybe asexual, and therefore not suited to relationships, and any invitation for sex was too much for him. So his image of companionship is platonic and idealized. That’s just my guess.
Great vid guys! 'What she asked of me at the end of the night, Caligulia would have blushed' = Caligulia was a mad Roman Emperor known for being sexually out there. Morrissey is asexual so I think it means he basically can't shag :)
Caligula is a famous writer like Keats, Shakespeare and Wilder. Morrissey inserts famous writers and quotes throughout their discography. MUST DO shoplifters of the world and How soon is now.
Johnny Marr guitar genius
Totally
That song went hard!!!
'There is a light and it never goes out' is brilliant

He's been a huge inspiration to a lot of pro guitarists as well. His sound is unmistakable.
They did Boy with the thorn in his side Jan 24, 2023. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/Xc8S0itoWcs/видео.html
Bass man needs a raise
Seen this band 3 times in the 80,s. Iconic 👍👍
The Smiths...Well I Wonder
@cambersc335 you know your Smiths!

Definitely go for the videos on THE DEARS and THE STILLS. They won't get blocked. Audio for the others as a first listen.
It's not an effect peddle for that jingle jangle guitar. That's quality strumming
maybe not a pedal, but clean guitars don't sound like that without chorus and reverb.
without effects it would sound thin lmao
React to “girlfriend in a coma” by the smiths 🙏

He had a weird way of playing guitar too apparently 🤔
@@thehangingparsiple5692 not really, he was just inspired by funk, soul and blues guitar at a time where synths and hair metal were reigning supreme
2:25 she asked him for a kiss😂😂😂
Classic!
Do cemetry gates or back to the old house next. Just a couple of my personal favourites but their whole discography is worth listening to

Wow, excellent recommendation
Please don’t. It’s what every non Smiths fan would want you to react to.
@@nianfiedler5291?

Oh man this two guys 😂 first time , but one of them know the lirycs
i have every album they kicked butt!
Loving the The Smiths and your videos. You MUST review “There is a light that never goes out” and “How soon is now”.
They did the first one on Jan 14, 2023. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/02M-DV_LgL8/видео.html
They haven't done How Soon is Now yet
'Big mouth strikes again' and 'Hand in glove' are brilliant tracks as well.

Great vid guys!
