Changing a brake light bulb on a 2008 Vauxhall Vectra

The Vauxhall Vectra C has a dashboard warning light that tells you that a brake light bulb is no longer working. However it does not tell you which one of the two does not work, assuming one is OK and the other one isn't. This video shows you how you can tell which side is which. You will need either a helper to push the brake pedal down, or a 550mm length of wood and a safe and secure place to park. I didn't show the actual bulb change, and it's best not to touch the bulb with bare hands so that grease or sweat from your skin does not come into contact with the glass. The side that's OK will have one bright bulb (next down from the indicator) when the brake is pressed and without the driving lights being on; or it will also have the third bulb down showing a less brightly as well as the brake light when the brake is pressed and the driving lights are on. You will see this all in the video.

Ive got a bunch of lights that have gone, my biggest question to this video is, is it not a good idea to dissconnect the battery, I'm only asking because my flathead is miles away

I have the brake light warning on my dashboard as on the video. But light are same and working fine. Changed both sides with new ones but warning still on. Any idea how I can troubleshoot this warning?
