Smart move on his end to do 7 decks live. Catching so much flack from people about his pre made mixing, figured he should go over the top with something, and this video did just that. 5 decks looping and 2 decks providing beats. Pretty dope
"I'm always in airplanes working with my headphones on really loud. So I taught myself how to DJ without headphones. With today's technology on Pioneer decks, you can see what the BPM of the next record is. If you know your records, you know how long it is to the first drop and where the outro is. It's not a hard thing to do, but people always question things if they don't know how it's done."
Out of interest, after seeing you'd taken the time to comment about my opinion, I've taken a look at the videos of your "original" productions. Wow! Just Wow! My mind has been utterly blown! What's the most amazing thing is I have never heard of you before this day. Why?
Omfg! Even when he is showing off his amazing skills like in this video, people are still after him. Seriously just admit, that what he is doing here, is fucking amazing. Getting 7 songs to match live, AND sounding good takes some serious skills. And btw this video also proves that he actually CAN play other stuff than what u guys calls "pop".
I just re-watched the video and no the pitch sliders were not always at the 0 line he was using the side of the jog wheel to adjust. plus even if they were at the same BPM he still makes good work of mixing between several pioneers and the mixers. No one can simply go up there and mix 7 pioneers like that. yes its not the most complex mix but its not easy and he does a good job at keeping the mix going and keeping the crowd happy
ALL the CDJs have their pitch control set to the center. He has pre-pitched everything in Ableton and then bounced the files down. By hitting play, the tracks will play in perfect time. I'll send Steve a message recommending that you get a special reward for your unswerving support of him and his amazing life. When you're older, you'll be able to visit a real club and maybe go in the DJ box and talk to him.
HE is using 2 mixers.. no computer, these arent Cdj2000 Nexus. so no i dont think hes "cheating" Steve angello started to dj when he was 13 years. i'm dj and i dont use headphones when i mix and i dont use recordbox. and let me tell you that i saw him live i stockholm or 7 years ago in stockholm with 4 cdj1000 and he did the same. KING STEVE ANGELLO
so the song that isnt pryda is spelling and its the anthony attalla remix :) if my comment doesnt get thumbs up or whatever(i could care less if it does) then i hope someone copies and pasts this so everyone can know what the song is...or just use shazam. keep the tunes alive my fellow edm friends!
Prea tare frate...sa nu uitam ca a facut parte din Swedish Hosue Mafia.....si toti stiau sa faca atmosfera ......si sa mixeze muzica buna !!!Bravo Steve !!!
Anyone who hates here is just bitter. It takes skill to set that all at once and keep mixing, and as much as you hate there is no denying that! Angello has been around for years, he doesn't need to prove hi,self but damn if he enjoys to do it!
& the time that you wer there. The good vibes, the energy, crowd that goes wild, go back again memories. Thats what it is for us, for us to see them and can tell the people or tell stories to our other friends or relatives what we had experience. Its all about the experience for them, some maybe or sometimes its all about the money
word! I've DJ'ed at some clubs, and saw a dude who dj'ed for about 10 years. He DJ'ed with no headphones, and the mix was fantastic. Only used headphones when he needed. not most of the night though
As far as no headphones, lots of big name DJ's have some monitors playing with speakers pointed their way so they can hear it and the rest of the crowd plays what's on the dance floor. Convenient as hell.
there is a waveform display but it's not accurate enough to use it like you say, and you can set cue points, sometimes up to 5 i think, but to do that without headphones is impossible as well.
probably because he looped some CDJs for the parts that he sounded well with the other track (looping percussions, vocals, bassline, synth, etc.) kinda like building up a track which is what you see a lot of Ableton DJs/Live performer do
Dont think so. With a little simple math, you can figure out how much you should move the fader to shift it up 1 bpm at a time and onwards if u want to go faster. Steve told on twitter, that was the way he did it without headphones.
Just to let everyone know Steve Angello doesnt need headphones, Depending on the situation he knows his tracks he knows where they start and what to do with them, and when u are playing 300 gigs a year u could do the same.
1. the amount he is spinning the platters to adjust the sync of the songs is so much that you would hear they were off if it was playing out of the system. 2. no headphones means he's not previewing anything. which means those things he's adjusting can't be heard by him or the crowd.
Markus Shultz is currently doing the same thing right now... to be honest all DJ do this when they preform for ministry of sound. Dont get me wrong he is still a good DJ but he is not the only one thats done this
Both the Djm-900nex and Djm-2000nex have the Ethernet link to hook up 4x cdj's per mixer, with the 900, you need a router to use the Ethernet link. The Djm-2000 has 4x cdj links and 2x computer links. All of the cdj's are probably set to a master BPM sync or from the computer and rekord box or from the Djm-2000. Regardless. That's a shit ton of money in cdj's and equipment. Ayo Steve wanna gimme 2?
People are probably wondering if this is possible or not. Well Steves obviously been doing this for a while now so hes got the experience. Also how much easier would it be if he had 2 traktor S4 Midi Controllers. Ha, would save a lot of loops from repeating for long periods of time.
As if the crowd is gonna notice with 2 mixers support 24 bit 48kHz. As long as you keep the Master Out of the first mixer in the greens and don't use the Trim to push it up to the +10 dB range a vast majority of the people won't be able to tell the difference.
...and how many A list DJs do you know who only play in the green ;) anyway, we have it setup a better way, with both sets of masters going into our FOH console and all the monitor outs being routed / mixed via soundweb. the centre CDJ is actually hooked up to both setups so it's possible to kinda do what you suggest anyway.
yeah, but after reading what rekordbox can do, it's obvious he would also use it to pitch shift all his music so it's at the same bpm before getting to a gig. otherwise it would be imposible for him to play without headphones.
I like what he's doing. I try to do similar stuff when I DJ out. Granted I use 4 digital decks, and I'm no where near this good. I enjoy the hell out of it, hopefully someone has a recording from the actual club system.
I have been spinning since 87. I spin parties in New York city and Brooklyn.I also do a lot of dance contests. There are a lot of people who love the way i play. There is no tougher or knowledgeable crowd to please then a New York crowd that love to dance. With that, i don't have to shut nuthin' man! I paid my dues and did it the RIGHT way.A lot of so called dj's who can't really spin use the rocking the crowd and knowing the music excuse to cover up how wack they really are.....
He has boothmonitors and besides that about 14 years of experience.. It's his job man..Does a professional mason that has been doing the same thing for over 14 years need a ruler to build a straight wall?
booth monitors only play whats coming out the main usually. his point is he's not actually doing any beatmatching or anything (basically not djing) just playing with the sample buttons which are all in time already so theres no way he can mess up really.
i would of gave anything to see this live
Some ppl just cant accept that Steve knows how to mix
Smart move on his end to do 7 decks live. Catching so much flack from people about his pre made mixing, figured he should go over the top with something, and this video did just that. 5 decks looping and 2 decks providing beats. Pretty dope
SIZE MATTERS ! PURE TALENT !

Finally a person with brains on youtube.
I just re-watched the video and no the pitch sliders were not always at the 0 line he was using the side of the jog wheel to adjust. plus even if they were at the same BPM he still makes good work of mixing between several pioneers and the mixers. Somebody has the track list? Especially the beat that kicks in at 2:27, Steve is killing it!
HE is using 2 mixers.. no computer, these arent Cdj2000 Nexus. so no i dont think hes "cheating" Steve angello started to dj when he was 13 years. i'm dj and i dont use headphones when i mix and i dont use recordbox. and let me tell you that i saw him live i stockholm or 7 years ago in stockholm with 4 cdj1000 and he did the same. thats pretty awesome. would love to play around with this stuff. thanks for the insight!

thank you so much i was looking for this song for 10 months, i really apreciate your contribution
Prea tare frate...sa nu uitam ca a facut parte din Swedish Hosue Mafia.....si toti stiau sa faca atmosfera ......si sa mixeze muzica buna !!!Bravo Steve !!!
I seen this Steve live SHM in a small club and in Canada with 250 people and he was fucking amazing then and amazing now.
Anyone who hates here is just bitter. It takes skill to set that all at once and keep mixing, and as much as you hate there is no denying that! Angello has been around for years, he doesn't need to prove hi,self but damn if he enjoys to do it!

Hola q tal soy de mexico y quisiera saber como se llaman las canciones te lo agradecería mucho un saludo y muy buen video
id love to see him try that with vinyl
As far as no headphones, lots of big name DJ's have some monitors playing with speakers pointed their way so they can hear it and the rest of the crowd plays what's on the dance floor. Convenient as hell.
ministry's booth is like heaven
Sik sik sik!!!! Awesome!!! I'm still vonfused on the whole sync ordeal though. I mean it's synced right? Either through preseting bpms or what not???
I wonder if CDjs does not have SYNC button, Nice one DJ
he is looping and if you check all the CDJs rim lights are red so that meen that they are all playing live on the master output
Now he's a master! He knows what he's doing. Why you all hating?
there is a waveform display but it's not accurate enough to use it like you say, and you can set cue points, sometimes up to 5 i think, but to do that without headphones is impossible as well.
hell yea he is ridiculous so so mad i missed this :(
how can he mix that well without headphones though?
How could anyone ever lose faith in Steve Angello???
The best DJ
probably because he looped some CDJs for the parts that he sounded well with the other track (looping percussions, vocals, bassline, synth, etc.) kinda like building up a track which is what you see a lot of Ableton DJs/Live performer do
anyone know the tracks? Theres one in the background that stops at 1.12 that im after
Doesn't the flashing green light mean pause! Long time since I had CDJs so can't quite remember!
Anyone please say for me the name of song from beggining on 2nd plan. :/ sounds so amazing :(
in the beginning there are playin 3...at 1:25 you can see that 5 cdj's are playing
thank you
Sick!!! The boss
which one of the seven do you want to know :)
Wicked, thank you very much
actually if you look carefully, just 5 cdjs were playing
that takes full dedication
Your saying what Steve Angello said in an interview.
How... does... one do that?
Dont think so. With a little simple math, you can figure out how much you should move the fader to shift it up 1 bpm at a time and onwards if u want to go faster. Steve told on twitter, that was the way he did it without headphones.
he started with the vinyls & scratching and stuff.. watch Take One SHM Documentary, a short 45 min movie !
steve if you happen to see this, mad props man haha.
how u get tight without headphones?
most of the cdj's are in loop.
but i'n still impressed
Yeah! Like You can Loop tracks on vinyls!
Yet people still hate on this man smh
Good vibes! Angello is one of the best djs of all time !
i think that was made for SHM the other other 2 never showed lolz
Just to let everyone know Steve Angello doesnt need headphones, Depending on the situation he knows his tracks he knows where they start and what to do with them, and when u are playing 300 gigs a year u could do the same.
Im guessing he uses the last channel to connect the other mixer to his main mixer leaving no room for another pioneer
Swedish House Mafia could definitely fit with 7 decks, just sayin'
anyone knows the tracklist please?
1. the amount he is spinning the platters to adjust the sync of the songs is so much that you would hear they were off if it was playing out of the system.
2. no headphones means he's not previewing anything. which means those things he's adjusting can't be heard by him or the crowd.
Track is Pryda - Muranyi
Markus Shultz is currently doing the same thing right now... to be honest all DJ do this when they preform for ministry of sound. Dont get me wrong he is still a good DJ but he is not the only one thats done this
id vocal loop?
Acapella ID anybody?
I have never seen as sober as on this movie :) Steve did this shit well!
Any idea what the first melody is? any song ideas?
Does anyone know which song that melody is from? 5:10
+Furkan Yildiz It's Pryda - Muryani
even the people criticizing.....and saying he's not that good....could do this mix with headphones. I guarantee that
Steve Angello is amazing.........and I love Beat My Day!
Steve Angello was/is the best!!!!!! Haters gonna hate.
you mind that the cdj have a sync like traktor?
yeh wheres his headphones?
Both the Djm-900nex and Djm-2000nex have the Ethernet link to hook up 4x cdj's per mixer, with the 900, you need a router to use the Ethernet link. Pryda - Muranyi ?
I think it depends on the club, I've seen him live, shit was off the balls crazy and he was mixing the same way.
People are probably wondering if this is possible or not. Well Steves obviously been doing this for a while now so hes got the experience. Also how much easier would it be if he had 2 traktor S4 Midi Controllers. Ha, would save a lot of loops from repeating for long periods of time.
Pryda - Muryani, no ?
do anyone know the last track?? ID plz thanx
This is incredible 7 CDJ's , 2 Different mixer's , One of the worlds best DJ's and Producer . Thumbs up on this one!!
As if the crowd is gonna notice with 2 mixers support 24 bit 48kHz. As long as you keep the Master Out of the first mixer in the greens and don't use the Trim to push it up to the +10 dB range a vast majority of the people won't be able to tell the difference.
Very true about the new age of dj'ing, but think of the new heights we can now reach...
...and how many A list DJs do you know who only play in the green ;) anyway, we have it setup a better way, with both sets of masters going into our FOH console and all the monitor outs being routed / mixed via soundweb. the centre CDJ is actually hooked up to both setups so it's possible to kinda do what you suggest anyway.
what mixer can handle 7 cdjs?
2 mixers, bro! Mixer 1 = 4 CDJs + Mixer 2 = 3 CDJs.
track names ?
Good job...
On different DJ's?
yeah, but after reading what rekordbox can do, it's obvious he would also use it to pitch shift all his music so it's at the same bpm before getting to a gig. otherwise it would be imposible for him to play without headphones.
I like what he's doing. I try to do similar stuff when I DJ out. Granted I use 4 digital decks, and I'm no where near this good. I enjoy the hell out of it, hopefully someone has a recording from the actual club system.
steve rules...no doubt about it.like it :)
I have been spinning since 87. I never said it did.. What i pointed out was he could have easily set the bpm of every track the same on the CDs/USB, then you dont need "master sync"
name of the tracks please
He has boothmonitors and besides that about 14 years of experience.. It's his job man..Does a professional mason that has been doing the same thing for over 14 years need a ruler to build a straight wall?
didn't know that, thank you :)
Track 1 and 3 anyone?
booth monitors only play whats coming out the main usually. his point is he's not actually doing any beatmatching or anything (basically not djing) just playing with the sample buttons which are all in time already so theres no way he can mess up really.
Tracklist?
these are NOT cdj 2000 nexus, they are the mk1 version
Wow amazing!
last track?
What plays at 5:14
