- On May 2, I visited Norvenich Air Base in Germany. My goal was to film a number of Panavia Tornado's and I succeeded very well. At the moment, TLG33 with the Tornado's is temporarily stationed at Norvenich Air Base until 2026 due to construction work at Buchel Air Base. Always very loud and cool when the afterburner is used.

Any tips for visiting Norvenich? as a casual spotter, do they still fly there with Tornado`s?
Yes the Tornado's will stay temporarily till 2026 at Norvenich as Buchel air base is still out of service, so you have still some time to see them at Norvenich.😊👍
Trained against them when i was in the swedish Navy on exercise with Royal Navy outside Plymouth. Somehow i was supposed to shoot them down with my M240 Machine gun, which ofcourse was just ridiculous.

Are tornadoes still in service with the German air force?
Yes they still are 😊
Tornado can be nuke fitted - not possible fit the eurofigher with nukes - so they bought a couple of F-35. when they arrived, the tornado will be retired....ECR will be replaced too

Some bla bla trivia…..Tornado never took off without reheat (afterburner), even when light, hence the aircraft always had a lengthy engine run up and reheat test before brake release.
Always like these engine reheating by the Tornado, Mirage 2000 do this procedure also.
