I've been a beginner for years. I have watched countless guitar instructional videos from various different teachers, none of which covers this subject. This is so simple yet critical to being able to play guitar and sound musical instead of just strumming ups & downs. This is fundamental for anyone who really wants to play and sound like the artists songs they are learning.

I like the simplicity. Strumming in time is difficult for me. I will definitely practice this. Thanks.

Hi James. I really enjoyed this video. Technically, I am an intermediate player and know what the notes all mean, but just don’t feel it that way. I was a dancer first, then a singer, so can mimic songs pretty well from memorizing, or copying strum patterns but don’t really get how I got there. I did understand your handclap method though. Could you please give us examples on the guitar of how you would strum to the examples you have shown, e.g. Bingo. Much appreciated.🙏
