I was in tears by the end of the video. Your kind and loving energy is incredible. Your reverence and respect for nature is so heart warming.... very healing video.
its impressive how he can explain the plant and making an exact tincture and dosage in 30 seconds and its clear and concise. Sometimes its taken me years or months to learn about a plant and find a solid answer on how to use it, and that camera is so clear, I feel like im there in the woods too. what are you using for a camera?
Good morning Yarrow, I love the saprophyte video. I am especially drawn to Ghost pipe and have a fairly large stand at our property near Mt. Baker WA. that I tend to once in awhile. I am mostly concerned for them, as there is 36 holes of frisbee golf on the US Forest land on one side of us. They are so beautiful and strange! Ours have quite a bit of dark purplish black spotting and then the inside of the flower turns baby pink. This Summer I harvested 3 stalks on the full moon and made them into tincture. I would never harvest away from our property, as I believe they need to be there in most cases. I felt very drawn to these plants and had a feeling that I would benefit from their energy. I have taken one drop on a day that I could not get my chronic body pain under control. I felt an immediate change in my pupil and then sort of what felt like the beginning of a psilocybin high that never amplified. I was a little frightened and not sure what would happen. My anxiety subsided pretty quickly and I was then able to notice that I felt like I had an armor on between my actual pain and my brain that processes such pain. Super cool. I only made a very small amount and have kept 1 small bottle and gifted the other to my circle of people at Adiantum School here in Seattle. My questions to you are: 1)Do you believe that carrying this magical plant tincture in my pocket would benefit me in similar ways over time? and not taking it internally. 2)Have you ever dropped a saprophyte tincture onto your skin instead? and where? Thanks so much for your time and beautiful energy that you put into your teachings. The reason I chose the school that I did is because of our teacher Natalie Hammerquist. You invoke the same intrigue in focus and listening in me that she does. Much love, Mardi
Sometimes just watching these videos are healing. So much love for Mother Nature, it's transmitted through video. You're a truly powerful wizard, thanks 💚
When I lived in Cape Coral Florida 10 years ago I built a small 8 ft meditation pond in my back yard and transplanted a bunch of typical Florida plants around it! The following year about a half dozen varieties of those saprophytes came up all around ! all different colors , wish I had pictures, had no idea what they were! the ground i built on was new excavation dirt and sand mix, prior the lot was a field, curious no? Great videos!
Thanks for sharing this information! As Yarrow said, these plants (and yes, they are plants, despite the lack of chlorophyl) are very difficult to transplant. It makes me wonder where the dirt was sourced from.
Well that would make sense with his theory about them being to calm the forest. If you transplanted plants, those plants would be stressed and these lil guys popped up to calm them! LOVE it! 💕
Myself ,my son and granddaughter all have autism, I’m studying to be a master herbalist, I’m 67, I also live next to the new forest in southern England. I know what to look for now to help mend my broken spirit . Thank you yarrow . You always give me moments of peace
My husband and I just discovered your channel and are having so much fun learning from you! Thank you for creating such wonderful, inspiring content, Yarrow. We are hooked!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. You appear to be having a phenomenal experience simply exploring and turning to the camera, explaining to us your knowledge and ideas. This is a really wonderful opportunity for us to learn more about plant medicine. I'm super inspired by you!
Thank you Yarrow for sharing your spiritual connection and knowledge of our sacred plant allies...my heart is hopeful that you and other knowledgeable people continue to spread this message far and wide. If more humans could remember the sacred importance of our connection within this complex web of life we could all flourish and live together in abundance and sharing. My heart remains hopeful...Yesterday I visited my treasured friend in a rehab facility. I know in my heart that his answers and path to healing lie in the sacred medicine only found in the plant allies, the forests and fields in the sacred waters of our natural world. I can gently guide him in the direction of sites such as yours in hopes that it will resonate with a high enough frequency to reach through their darkness. The system that addicts eventually end up in, if they survive, seems tied to pharma and totally disconnected from the sacred web...The intention may be to help... but my heart knows it is not a very successful system. Thanks again for sharing and listening should you see this. Heart Hugs
You are so full of knowledge and amazing teacher! I'm learning so much and your vibe is so soothing, healing. Thank you for sharing this incredible world of medicine🌾🌿.much love💖
Hi, brother, what a lovely video. Nice to hear your vision of what the function of these plants in the forest context, is, and how we can make use of them with the micro-dose method. I have a technical observation i wanted to bring to your attention. When speaking about the ratios for the different plant preparation strengths, it will be easier for your students, (if you actually put the plants and solvents into the ratio form, in their proper order). This means that in the 1:2 ratio, used for most fresh plant materials, or the 1:5 ratio used for dried plant materials, the weight of the herb always is stated or written, FIRST. In the video, you said the ratio was 2:1.... and you clarified which part what which number later, but following the form where the plant weight is expressed first, and the solvent volume is expressed second, will result in less confusion for your students and those who watch this video. :-) Love your videos. :-) Thank you for making them.
Also it would be good to tell the strength of the Alcohol, usually when doing 1:2 Ratio you would use 190 proof or pure grain, grape, or sugarcane alcohol. Like Richard said above this will take some of the confusion out of how to make the proper tincture. Great video, I was just on an herb walk and was wishing I knew more about this magical "plants" to share with my students. Besides Ghost pipe I have been in the dark but now my curiosity has been blown open. Thanks for all you do
Thank you, Yarrow, for another wonderful teaching. These plants are magical, mystical. I would agree that they help with all types of overwhelm, especially during transitions.
An old Indian friend from Grande Ronde Oregon said they used Indian pipe traditionally prepared as a whole plant tea and used for the throat, lungs, and eyes. Yes the tea was placed directly in the eyes. Good information bud! Thank you.
Since a child my mind and soul has always seen these plants and herbs while on hikes, yet never knew exactly what they all were but diven to go check them out. Soul friends & family say I'm a super old soul in alchemy and more and that I purposefully wiped my memory after a major loss or heartbreak 4932yrs ago and thats the time I can almost remember back to. Wild stuff. Love your videos and energy brother! Keep on keepin on
Sooooo many this time of year in Montana up in the mountains, especially with all the rain! I never knew they had these medicinal properties. Great video, keep them up!
Thank you for all the great work, I absolutely love your videos! I was watching one of the videos, and you talk about the property of the plant and it’s use and how it can help, I could feel a sensation of relief almost as the knowledge over it produces the medication in my body, I’ve experienced myself telling myself not to produce a belly ache when nervous or upset, I was about 18, since that my powers have more or less stagnated. Your passion for every living being is refreshing and it nourishes my being. Best wishes and love ❤️
Very unique information. Thank you for sharing this. I've studied herbal medicine for decades and never heard anyone talk about using these unique plants. I'm in the Northeast/midatlantic region and have blooms of Ghost Pipe (I've known it as Corpse plant) in my forested yard.
Very interesting when you were tAlking about the memory of the trees storing information. And the mushrooms it made me so happy! I believe this too. Have you ever heard the stories of houses that will appear to people who later realize when they walk the same path that there is no house there but then they discover there used to be the exact house described. Many people have seen it! I wonder if this is why.... the memory and some other factors maybe... very strange
I'd probably give 100 bucks for 8 hours of walking through the woods with this guy... His knowledge is outstanding... Just listening to these videos I learn a lot.
I have been enthralled with these guys since I was a little girl. Thank you so much, you are amazing. Now I'm super curious to see who may be growing in my playground here in the jungle of the Talamanca, Costa Rica.
Kuku! So nice to discover you and your amazing channel Yarrow ^^ I'm an artivist and i'm right now learning a lot about plants so i can create toys and artistic experiences to help people to awake their senses and bonds with nature! Thanks for all the inspiration!
I found ghost pipe yesterday. Very exciting. I tinctures it in the field. I really enjoy all your videos! This one in particular. It sounds like it may help calm down seizures.
Hi Yarrow! What an amazing video. As an herbalist and practitioner of natures medicines I so appreciate the education and heart of the inter-connections with the plants & nature. So many years I have seen these saprophytes!!!! And I didn't know what these were called and the "Bridge Species" they are. Myself and friends long ago (40 yrs) found them so special, and also not to pick or destroy. ( strong natural intuition). They are on the land where I live in a coastal forest, in their diversity, with bunches of Indian Pipes. Even my children knew to respect them as such an unusual plant that we thought was a fungi. Want to learn more and explore this in greater depth. I grow many medicinal herbs, and they grow their own where they choose to be.Always interesting . Thank You so much for your inspirations, education and joy in what your share.
Just harvested my first monotropa uniflora and made a tincture. I'm looking forward to trying this magical medicine! I feel so blessed the forest allowed me to find and have this gift! Thanks for the video, blessings!
He did mention Asperger's, which is one of the names for autism spectrum disorder. I have ASD myself, so I shall have to find these -- I know my family lives where they grow, so maybe a visit is in order.
You make me want to go outside and run half naked in the forest LOL I love summer time and being Barefoot and learning all this new stuff hugs hugs hugs and thank you bunches
I had a brain tumor that affected all my sensory organs before they found it and were able to do surgery to remove most of it. It turned out to be astrocytoma so cancerous. I’m left with horrible migraines and pressure headaches after the surgery as well as altered blood flow because the tumor also squished some of my veins up there and what they couldn’t repair just kinda works like a plugged up hose, sometimes it works sometimes I get seizures. I’ve taken ghost pipe tincture that I get from a lady that I trust very much because I realize this magical plant can’t be propagated. But it grows quite prolific on her land so she makes me the tincture. I have had a beautiful experience with this super ally and magical medicine for which I am forever grateful. The very first time I tried it i felt like it was me and the plant getting to know each other and the plant looking for areas it could help me. I always ask it before I take it and somehow it lets me know if it can help me or not. As far as pain I feel like it lets me just sit beside my pain and work through it on my own while it is there with me as a friend. Where I notice a HUGE difference is with my seizures. It literally works in seconds to minutes before or after and I can think clearly again and the seizure is either over faster or stops in the midst or if it’s after I don’t have to wait 30-40 mins for my brain to reset and be able to speak again - it works immediately to clear my mind and help my speech and protects me from having further seizures. As far as what tissue it can repair in there I don’t know. But they told me I had 5-7 years even with the surgery and afterwards no one really said anything. In December it will be three. Sometimes the medicine tells me to stop- that it has done all it can do for now and so I listen. I have a very healthy respect and love for this plant and thank you for your reverence as well. I’m glad there are other types of saprophytic substitutes that I could potentially try and thus leave my friend ghost pipe in peace, if you ever want to have a Guinea pig to try one of them out on someone with severe brain trauma, sensory issues, seizures and likely a limited life time anyway I’d be happy to tell you what difference and similarities I find in them. All my senses are severely heightened since the tumor and never went away. My taste, hearing, sight, smell have all been severely damaged and heightened to the painful point ( like I can taste individual ingredients in foods and hear things like an animal and normal things are so loud that I have to stay n my room with white noise at all times or wear noise canceling headphones if I must go anywhere) so ghost pipe kinds mutes some of those things a bit too but it’s best features for me are the seizure prevention/help, and traumatic brain injury overall help. That’s my experience. Much love. I started watching your videos because I used to live in the Pacific Northwest ( Oregon ) and I loved seeing all the forest and herbs and plants that I used to go foraging for over there but I currently live in northwest Ohio about twenty mins from Canada by water so with my life the way it is I barely get out side and I only know the plants and fungi that are common to most of North America. Although the Ohio River valley does have some nice plants and trees and fungi that I’ve been slowly getting to discover on my walks.
Loved this, old growth forests have so many treasures. Do you think the candy canes in the santa claus story are referring to these saprophytes? certainly fits with the whole pine tree, amanita muscaria etc
Great video ! I'm a herbalist too and I have seen Ghost pipe but didn't know about the others. I'm disabled and in a lot of pain so I will be looking in the forest when I can Thanks!
Dig your videos very educational. I've seen these while hiking in Washington State always thought they were poisonous. Can't wait to get back out and pick a few keep the rad videos coming. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🌲🙏
How do you learn about plant/fungus identification. Books, websites, anything really. Thanks for making all the videos you do. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I enjoy your videos and the are my go to for medicinal plants. Do you have any recommendations for a field guide? I live in New England US.
Raw Utah thanks for the support and vision of a wider audience to share this info with. I makes me happy, just knowing that good people like yourself dig these videos. Blessings, Y~
Those video just popped up on channel...great great video...we do have ghost pipe in our woods now to go see if we have all of these beauties 😍 Tincture ghost pipe n put in my water n drink before bed n it helps my relax n sleep well!!!
Lovely thankyou. I this year have found broomrape in my permaculture layered no dig gardens. I've been told to kill them. I can't bring myself to do this. I feel they are important to the microrizal organism of the soil. Could you down a few moments to tell me. Are they the same as those you speak of in this video? Is my gut feeling to keep them safe correct ? Many thanks. They are in my orchard on self set sunflowers and in my vegetable gardens on the self set sunflowers there too.
Talk about the magickal. These come to you..for example, i met this stranger, a woman, at a naturalist rally. We were talking about plant spirits. So we went to the back of her car and i took a bit of a dropfull of her indian pipe tincture( lavender color) I normally would not trust doing this. Same day at my home in the moutains of Southwest Va. I found indian pipe, ghost pipe under my favorite pine tree! Just wanted to share.
This guy reminds me of a chilled out Steve Irwin. So excited about his passion and so nice.
YES PASSION.
Its because he whispers when he walks up on a Saprophyte
Yes. Keys to success and true happiness.
He reminds me of the happy painter.
Steve Irwin - the Plant Edition! RIP to the OG
I was in tears by the end of the video. Your kind and loving energy is incredible. Your reverence and respect for nature is so heart warming.... very healing video.
Surya c w I love Yarrow l
Love you and the work you do Yarrow!! 🥰
Yarrow your are amazing! Such a Mother Earth's child :) Such a reverence and gentle teaching 💕😘
I adore how much you soften your voice as to not disturb the forest around you. It really shows how compassionate you are for the world around you.
Lol, Yarrow is that dude at every festival giving out herbal remedies to calm down bad trip sufferers.
bless his heart
I was laughing my heart out too hearing it. Yes Yarrow! Someone got to do it 😂
This is exactly the type of videos I'll have my kids watching for education. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Awww great idea
I was just thinking that'll be playing this one in the background to introduce their inquisitive minds

You are the Bob Ross of the forest. Love your demeanor, ethic, and presentation of information.

This guy rocks - he needs his own tv show
Just harvested my first monotropa uniflora and made a tincture. I'm looking forward to trying this magical medicine! I feel so blessed the forest allowed me to find and have this gift! Thanks for the video, blessings!
Its funny how he whispers like the plants are going to run off and hide. I like this guy. So chill! Must use that Dutchman's pipe.
Curious about how this might be beneficial with people who are autistic. They frequently suffer from sensory issues.

Loving your energy and passion, thanks for all the info
Im interested in how the candystick tincture went!?
wow man love your love for the woods. good on you mate.
You have great picking practice, always leaving more than you take!
Love your approach and passion for all things growing 💜💚🌟🌳
Yarrow, I'm a huge fan. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm.

Hi Melissa, PerHAps you would als0 Like to check out the "Chris Beat Cancer" Inf0 on RUclips... BLiSSingS, WiLL0w : )
Loved this, old growth forests have so many treasures. Do you think the candy canes in the santa claus story are referring to these saprophytes? certainly fits with the whole pine tree, amanita muscaria etc
Tom O'Rourke love that.. 🤔 I think your theory is right on point.

Love your lesson!
Great video by the way, we are in Minnesota and have these in the north woods.
I really like how you explain how to use and what the plant does. Thank you
Lovely thankyou.
Much love from the Cowichan bush!
Amazing video. Thank you 😊
Great video.. new to your channel... thx!!!!
Sounds dry there... like here in Sweden... don’t think we will get many mushrooms this fall.....
I'm glad I found this video. I was going crazy finding out what the name of those beautiful plants.😀😀.I will try to make tincture out of it.
Talk about the magickal. These come to you..for example, i met this stranger, a woman, at a naturalist rally. We were talking about plant spirits. So we went to the back of her car and i took a bit of a dropfull of her indian pipe tincture(
lavender color) I normally would not trust doing this. Same day at my home in the moutains of Southwest Va. I found indian pipe, ghost pipe under my favorite pine tree! Just wanted to share.
